The cold evening breeze slapped at Scarlett's face like whiplash, inducing a jolt of realization.
Her body still burned, her blood sizzling and smoking from all the feelings and emotions coursing through her all at once. It felt like she was loosing her mind, and was going through an awakening at the same time.
Her lips tingled as the cold breeze brushed its whispery fingers against them as if purposely reminding her of all that had just happened.
The way his lips had felt against hers, so soft and warm and yet filled with bitter regret and longing. The way his hands had held her body to his like his life would end if he ever lost her again.
But he'd lost her once already. And he'd lost her forever.
Scarlett wiped at her tears angrily as she marched down the Pantheon steps, towards where her rented car was parked, but the tears were adamant and they wouldn't stop pouring.
