Chapter 44 - The Expansion

General Jaeger, Kha Vulpus and Lucia Vonderlorne, hands now unbound, looked over a holo table displaying a galactic map. The map had many different sectors within it, each sector showing who was in control of which sector. Obviously, the Empire covered a large portion of the map, with scattered spots labeled as Rebel sectors, and another large chunk left neutral, but the three knew that it was owned by the Hutt clans and other rogue factions. Looking through the names of the systems in the neutral sectors, one caught Jaeger's eyes and caused Grievous to grow angry.

The Kalee system.

It was a system Jaeger would have to address later on. For now, they needed to find a worthy ally to help them expand their influence of this new faction. They needed an already powerful group which they could covertly operate within, and Kha was the first to suggest something.

He raised his hand and selected the Tatoo system, the holographic image growing to show the binary star system. He the selected the planet Tatooine, enlarging the desert planet. "MIGHT I SUGGEST THE HUTT CLANS? MORE SPECIFICALLY, JABBA THE HUTT?" The wolfish leader spoke, turning his gaze towards Jaeger.

"Well, he is a crime lord, but working alongside him to form a new galactic order may be on the good side. He's already slightly against the Empire since he controls most of the illegal operations taking place within their sectors, and for the right price, he gains a new trading partner and future ally..." Jaeger elaborated, scratching his thin faceplate with his claw. He then stopped when he realized there was nothing to scratch and that it was something he used to do when he was a full human.

Lucia took control of the map, zooming back out to the greater galaxy then quickly focusing in on the Naboo system. "While Jabba may be a powerful ally, he is highly untrustworthy. He is a crime lord after all. I suggest we head for Naboo and seek my family there. They used to be bankers for the Republic, but after the Empire took control, most of our operations are now focused on private security forces planet side." She focuses on the planet Naboo. It was in the Mid rim territories, and held an Imperial garrison o the surface.

"Getting planet side would be a problem, and if your family assists us, there may be complications in the future. Are you certain you want to bring that down upon your remaining family?" Jaeger asked, focusing on the blonde woman. Her facial expression was stoic and unmoving, a show of resolve.

"My father may have been to most outspoken of us, but my family all agreed that the Empire was illegitimate. They will help no matter what." She replied. Jaeger nodded, focusing on their options.

"So we either go towards Tatooine and seek aid from the crime lord Jabba, or we infiltrate Naboo and seek aid from the Voderlorne family." Jaeger spoke their choices aloud, the two planets coming into view. He looked towards Vulpus. "Are you certain their are no other Separatists who would join the cause?"

He sighed, looking to the smaller galaxy map. "I WOULD HAVE SUGGESTED GEONOSIS, BUT I HEARD REPORTS THAT THE PLANET IS A DESOLATE WASTELAND NOW. THE EMPIRE PURGED THEM." He lowered his head, a whine lining his last words. This was the first time Jaeger had seen the otherwise wild Separatist appear depressed.

Jaeger nodded, focusing back on the map. After a moment, he looked to the two. "Please leave me to contemplate our course of action. I'll summon you when I have decided." The two simply nodded, turning to leave the room they were in, leaving Jaeger alone with his thoughts.

'You know either path will be a troublesome road.' Jaeger heard the voice of Grievous echo in his mind, disturbing his focus,

'Yes...' was all Jaeger could reply with. Fighting the Empire was a herculean task on its own, trying to decide who to trust with aiding the task was no small thing to scoff at. One wrong choice down this path and it could lead to disaster. 'That's why I need to think about the options, and not have you bother me.'

The only reply Grievous gave was a laugh before Jaeger felt his mind was clear. He breathed in deeply and exhaled sharply, turning back to the holo table and looking at the two planets.
