Chapter 45 - The Beginning

Jaeger finally reached a decision, one that should have come rather easily but he felt he needed time to think about it. Why not seek the aid of both groups. Sure, it would be a strange alliance, but he was certain that they both hated the Empire equally to work together. Plus, with Jabba's connection, they could find more former Separatist forces willing to rise up against the tyrannical Empire.

'Interesting path, child. Trusting a slime like Jabba will be problematic. He will want many things from this new faction you're asking him to form with you.' Grievous commented, making my eye twitch in annoyance.

"Well, he has a vast network throughout the Outer Rim. With his force, we have a pirate army which can distract the Empire effectively and stir up the other rogue elements to join the fight." Jaeger replied, getting some of the B1 droids to look in his direction, their metaphorical eyebrows arching in confusion as their leader spoke to himself. One was foolish enough to approach and address the General.

"Um sir? You know your speaking to-" The droid's head was quickly smashed into scrap as Jaeger's clawed hand lashed out. It was not of his own will, but that of the one buried inside.

'Grievous, relax. That was my fault. I spoke aloud for what you needed to hear.' I said, quickly regaining control of my rogue limb.

'I just hate those annoying droids! They are a waste of material!' The soul of Grievous raged within Jaeger, causing his body to shake. His claws twitched uncontrollably as Grievous fought to take control, but I breathed calmly and managed to keep hold of my new body.

'You need to relax. There's no way for us to get back at Palpatine if we have no army.' Jaeger explains, mentally pinning him down as his rage subsided. Eventually, he scoffed and returned to being calm, allowing Jaeger to take control of his body once more and study their options.

'I don't think this Vonderlorne family would enjoy working with the Hutt clans, ;et alone the former enemy of the Republic.' Grievous said while Jaeger looked through the information regarding Lucia's family.

'It's not like they'll have a choice. I'm certain that the Empire will start trying to tie up loose ends. Sooner or later, they'll join us. If not to fight back, than simply because their daughter is with us.' Jaeger says, studying the N-1 Starfighter that they owned. The shape was similar to a normal N-1 starfighter, but the markings along the armor were separate, giving the vehicle the image of a sea monster. Studying it closer, the image was that of a Sando. This family must use the monster as it's image.

Turning to the droid that was collecting what remained of the damaged droid, Jaeger pointed towards it, causing it to jump. "Go collect Kha and Lucia." The droid nodded, running away to find the two, leaving another droid to drag the body away, saying something about how he wished Grievous had stayed dead. After struggling with the enraged soul once more, Jaeger was face to face with Kha and Lucia once more, ready to reveal their plan of action. "So, I've decided to work with both groups. Jabba's forces will act as good skirmishers and raiders against Imperial forces, and the Vonderlornes and their professional security force will be good with fighting alongside the droids, taking command positions, not to mention their fleet of Star Fighters."

Kha and Lucia looked to one another as if they had come to the same conclusion while waiting for Jaeger to decide. They turned their heads to their leader and nodded, showing that they supported this strategy. "I THINK THAT WILL BE FOR THE BEST. THE ENEMY OF OUR ENEMY IS OUR FRIEND, AFTER ALL." Kha said, his hands clasped behind his back.

"Yes, plus we'll need all the firepower we can get to fight the Empire. Who knows what else they have since they lost you, Sir." Lucia commented, her arms crossed against her chest. Jaeger nodded, looking back out the window.

"It's true. They had me to hunt rebels, but who knows what else the Empire is hiding up their sleeves. More killer drones? Elite Storm Trooper Squads? More Inquisitors?" As he spoke, his voice slowly began to turn into a growl, and when he turned around, Kha and Lucia gasped as he looked at them. One eye was Jaeger's green, and the other was Grievous' yellow. "No matter what happens, the Empire, and Palpatine, dies by my blade!"

The two nodded before turning around and leaving the room. Jaeger shook his head, his eyes returning to normal. Facing the droids, he walked into the command center proper. "Prep my vessel to launch. The Galactic Commonwealth begins here and will rise up from the ashes of the Republic and strike down the False Emperor!" He shouted as his ship, The Imperial Bane, began to light up. The droids within the room began to cheer, and the droids in the dock cheered as well.

Having heard that, Kha and Lucia walked through the halls again, Escorted by two of the Red Commandos. "I HAVE A GIFT FOR YOU, GIRL." Kha said, approaching a guarded door.

"Incorrect. We have decided to give it to you." One of the droids said, their voice still bugging Lucia on how human it sounded. "While you were speaking with William, we took the liberty of trying to repair your armor, but it was damaged beyond restoration."

"So we decided to offer you the last of our armor." The other spoke, causing confusion to fill Lucia's mind. Last she heard, all of the Red Death Troopers had dies, and only a few survived. Even if they had their armor still, who knows if it was a full set.

"Are you certain? Would that not be disrespectful?" She asked, walking up to the door. The two commandos stepped aside, and Kha opened the door, revealing a stand with armor mounted on it. It was rather damaged, but it was a full set of the Red Death Trooper armor.

"We collected what remained of our allies and combined the armor, forging it into one solid suit of armor." One of the droids said, holstering her blaster and walking up towards the armor, reaching out. She touched the chest piece, where there was still a burn mark where a blaster had pierced. The droid turned back to Lucia, who had followed her in. "This armor reminds all of us that we were once human, even before the Lo-bots. If you wear this, It will give us hope." The droid said, tapping her temple.

Lucia, struggling to keep her composure, looked towards the armor that the Commandos believed represented them. If she wore it, she would not only become one of Jaeger's lieutenants, but the physical representation of the people that were the Red Death, giving them life once more. She would become a symbol for those who were stuck as synthetic life. She nodded, and two of the droids began to pull the armor down, preparing to place it on her.

Kha nodded as she accepted the Commando's gift, walking away and intending to return to the Dry Dock, the birth place of the Galactic Commonwealth.
