Chapter 3 - Chapter 3- The Redhunter

Getting a Sentinel to come over from Liberty city to kill Landers is a difficult task to do as long as you live on the outskirts of the city. At first, I started to hunt off Landers as a way to experience the actual thing, the feels, and adrenaline of being on the front lines. After I killed my first one, I killed another then another, as if I poured all my hatred and pain onto them. I became obsessed with killing Landers. E-ranks and D-ranks weren't even enough for me, I wanted to feel how I felt the day my parents died, that fear, that fear...is what made me stronger. I've conquered that fear to make me stronger.

The more I killed, the more people started to know about this mysterious man, who is out killing Landers. Village Chiefs started to hire me for unofficial jobs, for me to kill Landers, and in return, they'd pay me for my struggles. But I never accepted money they had given me, instead, I relied on the crystals that the Landers dropped. Depending on the rank, you can pay a whole month's worth of rent on a kill.

My actions made people think I was a rogue hunter because I didn't accept any type of rewards and they might have seen it as some type of boycotting. They knew nothing of me, just a mysterious Red-headed boy killing Landers for free, they gave me the name Redhunter.

My obsession with Landers grew stronger and stronger, all I seek was strength, I was obsessed with power. And I was only 11.

Aunt Mary noticed my obsession and suggested I travel across the lands and learn new things. I noticed that I had even changed personally, I was more and more angry and moody. I traveled over the 4 kingdoms, the Air Mountains, the Water Terrains, the Earth Kingdom, and the Fire Empire. I learned the basics of the Orizambi, but I still hunted down Landers, all kinds now. But I remember a particular job when I was in the Earth Kingdom.

Hordes of Landers have been attacking villages on the outskirts, and the Sentinels of the Earth capital ignored it, thinking it was just a joke. But I checked it out. There were dozens of them, maybe even hundreds. I couldn't believe it. There were so many of them, that it reminded me of when my sector was attacked. "I won't let anyone else die," I told myself that night. I used every single ounce of strength I had, every single Orizambi I could manage, and I stood victorious. I had slaughtered them all. But I found out that a mysterious group were controlling the Landers. Even though they were Landers and still monsters, I felt an ounce of guilt because they didn't attack with their own free will. In a way, they were innocent. But I realized something even greater about myself, when I fought the hundred Landers, it wasn't fear that motivated me all the way through, but rather, to protect the innocent people of the village. I was fighting for them, something that I'd forgotten to do. A few days after the attack, I left the Earth Kingdom and returned home after 3 years on the road. The Redhunter had become a name known throughout the world.

"You okay in there?" Aunt Mary said behind the door.

"Ah, yes, I'm fine," I said. "You can come in if you want to" I added.

10:14 pm. I watched the clock tick.

"How do you know that guy, Insunya," I finally asked. I had been wondering all night.

"I used to be a Sentinel too you know," Aunt Mary said. She was a healer type, just like Bell.

I nodded. "Yeah, I know that, but that doesn't answer anything, Aunty,"

"The Tonans are close friends with the Blevans," Aunt Mary said, with a dimmer tone now.

Blevan is a noble name, highly respected figures not just in Liberty, but across the world. But the Blevan name was something Aunt Mary doesn't like to hear or talk about. Because that's the name of her ex-husband, Bells father.

James Blevan, Bell's biological father, is a nobleman, he had fallen in love with a commoner, Mary Kain. Nobles are expected to mary people of the same status, so their love was something that could never be accepted. Aunt Mary tried everything in her power to be with James Blevan, but at the end of the day, he chose his reputation over love and abandoned his lover and daughter.

"I met Insunya back when I was seeing James; he was such an optimistic kid; he was always happy and hungry as well." Aunt Mary chuckled. "He was a good kid, so I always had kept in touch with him,"

"He reminds me of you actually, you can be so foolish but yet so serious at times," She continued. "I trust him completely,"

I smiled vividly at Aunt Mary.

"That's assuring," I said. "I'll try my best to pass the trials, along with Bell, and I'm going to look after her, okay Aunty,"

She smiled. "I know you will,"

"Everything okay?" Bell asked, walking in.

"Reid was just telling me how he would protect you at all cost, and look after you as if you were...together," She emphasized "together".

Bells faced turned red, and stood quietly. Which is very unusual for her standards.

"Really?" She mumbled under her breath.

I smiled.

"Anyways, I was looking over the books Insunya was given us, and this healing arts book, it has the advanced arts," She said. "I was wondering, mom, if you could teach me the basics."

"Of course honey, I think you're ready now, I can also teach you to Reid," Aunt Mary suggested.

"I'm not too good with the healing arts, and I'm still stuck on the Shinrai Style, but I'm counting on you Bell, teach me after you learn it alright,"

"If I'm not busy then," She said, sounding all mighty.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been stuck on the Shinrai style for about 4 years now, it requires one to know the basics of at least 2 elements, and since I have 5 elements, I needed to know the basics of all 5 of them. I don't know all of them, but about 80%, which is still pretty good for my age. The Shinrai Style is the art of decomposing the Orizambi structure of an element and recomposing it as a different element altogether. It can only be used by elementals though, and you have to unlock your device, in this case, mine being Starfall, my dual katanas. An example of the Shinrai Style is me decomposing the structure of a fireball release and turning it into icicles. Or me turning an earth bullet release into dust. It's a very useful technique to master, but very hard as well, and the more elements you possess, the harder it gets for you. It's been my main focus, but I've been working on different techniques and releases as well. I've been focusing on my fire bind and lighting bind for a couple of months now since they deal the most damage. But the Shinrai style also takes a lot of Orizambi, making it even harder to master it. And you have to be mentally and physically prepared. I mean it's an A-rank technique, so it makes a lot of sense. But I'm proud of myself for getting this far.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been practicing my Orizambi and my martial arts skills as well since it's important too. The books Insunya gave to us have been very helpful. Some explain the nobility system and the history of Liberty City. Others have a wide range of elemental releases and even basic Orizmabi skills like Illusions and sealing. Bell has also gotten a lot better with her healing, she is even learning how to restore Orizambi, which would be very useful. It's been a week and we are about to go to Liberty City, the first part of the exams starts later this morning and the second part 3 hours later, there's no way I'm failing this.
