Chapter 5 - Chapter 5- The Entrance Exams Part 2

They divided us into different sections based on last names, so I ended up in a different classroom than Bell, Christian, and Liz. But I think Bell and Christian are in the same room though. The room was big enough to hold about 100 students, but there were about 30 of us there. There were papers on the desk, each one with our names on it. I found mine and sat down.

The proctor was an older woman, she wore a jacket that complimented her jeans.

"Good morning everyone," She greeted. "You should've seen your name on one of the desks. If you didn't find your name, please raise your hands,"

No movement and dead silent. Kinda bothered me how silent it was. The proctors' voice echoed in the room.

"Perfect, now check the information on the paper and make sure it's correct," She instructed.

I looked down on the paper in front of me.

Name- Reid Flannel

Age- 17

Sex- Male

Height- 6 foot 1 inch

Date Of Birth- October 13th

Orizambi- 5 marks of Element

Device- Starfall

I thought Aunt Mary forgot about the name of my device. She probably filled this out, since she is my legal guardian. But they were all correct.

"Any problems?"

No one rose their hands, so I guess we are all good.

"You may now open the exam booklet, any forms of communication will result in automatic failure, If you have a question, come ask me, not a friend. If you finish before the time is over, which I doubt you will; turn it in to me and you may leave. Any questions."

I rose up my hands. "What if you want to use the bathroom?" I asked.

"You'll need to hold it in," She replied swiftly. "Why, do you need to use the restroom sir?"

I shook my head, "No, just wondering ma'am" I said.

"Okay then, you may start, good luck to you all," She said, then took a seat.

"Okay let's do this," I said in my thoughts. "Q1, when fighting a Lander, which part should you target, A. The head. B. The core C. Heart D. Its Limbs."

Easy. It's B.

If all of the questions are this easy, then I'll finish in no time.

And based on the few questions I've answered, this part is about fighting Landers.

Bell, I know you're doing just fine.

I will not fail.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay and done.

That wasn't too bad. I looked around and the other participants were all focused on the exams. I could feel the tension in the room.

There were some hard questions here and there, but I think I did okay. I can't believe how hard these nobles are struggling, guess they aren't as good as they put themselves to be.

I got up and handed the exam to the proctor.

She skimmed through it then nodded, "didn't skip a single question huh," She said, in a lower tone.

I nodded. I didn't want to talk to distract the other students.

"You may leave, good luck on the rest," She said. "And, good job,"

I smiled at her then left.

She was nicer than she looks.

I had 10 minutes remaining. So I finished in 57 minutes huh. I was aiming for 50 minutes, or less maybe. But It's not bad.

I pat myself on the shoulder, "not bad Reid, not bad," I said to myself walking through the halls.

I went back to the student area, hoping to see Bell over there.

But there wasn't anyone else over there.

I guess I finished first then.

I turned around and saw six students. One looked particularly familiar.

I guess I was seventh then.

"You guys must be really smart to have finished this early," I said, approaching them.

"I didn't know they gave restroom breaks," a girl with a phoenix tattoo on her hand said.

"Of course they don't," I said. "I just finished."

"And how many questions did you skip?" One guy said.

"none," I said.

"How many did you guess," The girl said.

"About 10 of them, though I wouldn't call it guessing though, more like knowing the answer, but being cautious about it if that makes any sense,"

"It doesn't,"

The guy who sat over at the edge of the bench looks so familiar, but I can't figure who he is. He had no expression whatsoever, I don't think he had even noticed me. He had long grey hair and a tattoo of a dragon on his arm.

"got a problem?" He asked.

I guess I was looking at him for way too long.

"No," I said.

I don't like this guy and his attitude.

"So you guys didn't take the exams?" I asked.

"No, we didn't" The girl with the phoenix tattoo said.

"We are the six recommended students, which means we are levels above you," The moody guy said.

"Is that so," I said.

"Tell me your name," The phoenix girl said.

"Reid Flannel, but you can call me Red,"

"That's an unfamiliar name," She said. "I doubt I'll see you again, you won't make it past the second trials, but good luck anyway."

"Can you tell the future? Is that your Orizambi art?" I said, panicking.

They laughed at me.

"You're an idiot; I'm Inita Pasan of the phoenix style,"

"the phoenix style?"

"I doubt your simple-minded brain can comprehend it, so I won't waste my time explaining it."

"Rude," I said. "I guess I'll meet you guys in class 1-S then,"

"I won't be holding my breath,"

Those guys were so rude. I was just trying to make some new friends but all they did was look down on me, especially that Inita girl. If she was a bit nicer, I would've asked her to dinner.

I laughed.

"What's so funny?" Bell asked, standing right in front of me.

"Nothing," I said.

I then realized that the student area was filled up once again. I guess everyone was done.

"How was it?" I asked.

"Kinda difficult, lucky that I listen to your rambling about fighting Landers, that helped a lot,"

"I'm glad to hear that," I said, turning to Christian. "How about you, Christain,"

"I think I passed," He said.

I turned, looking for Liz.

"Is Liz not back yet?"

"She's probably with Sukai," Christain said.

"What's a Sukai?"

"That's my name," A brunette girl with a headband said. Standing next to Liz.

"Oh, my bad, It's the first time I've heard of that name,"

"It's the first time I heard that name," She said, mocking me.

"Why Is every girl here so mean," I said to myself.

"I'm not mean," Liz said.

"You may seem sweet and kind, but you...are...mean. I asked a question and you ignored me. That's mean."

"He's still on that?" Liz turned to Bell.

"Let him be, his stupidity is beyond us."

They all laughed.

Christain gave a little chuckle.

"You too? Don't side with the girls," I said.

One of the proctors stood in front of us and called for attention.

"The exams are currently being graded as we speak, results will be out in about 2 hours. Maybe less or more. It's almost midday now. Make sure to be back before 2 pm. And remember, only 300 will pass and move on to the last trials. And speaking of the second trials here is professor Storm to give details about the second trials,"

He handed the microphone to Storm.

"I'll make this short and sweet. In the second trial, you will be up against Landers, all differing from Rank E through to Rank A. The more you kill, the higher score you get. We will put all of you in the training sector along with the Landers. You will get 30 minutes to get the highest score you can possibly get, you can have teamed up to 5 people, but each person is responsible for the own kill. Goodluck,"

This couldn't get any easier, because killing Landers is my specialty.

"See you in class 1-S, Inita Pasan." I grinned.
