Chapter 20 - Secrets and Forgiveness

"So how did your task go?" Norsoe asked. He was sitting on his throne; waiting. Waiting for the perfect  opportunity to strike.

"It's fine." The captain replied, rather plainly. He was hiding in the shadows, stomping his paw impatiently.

"Don't talk to your master like that, boy!" Norsoe fumed. "You may be powerful as that, but remember-"

"Remember that you gave me those powers and blah blah blah..." The captain simpered in a rather sarcastic manner, enraging his master.

"Do you dare to challenge me?!!!" Norsoe shouted, seething with anger.

"C'mon, chill..." The captain deadpanned as he stepped into the faint light of the hall. His fur crackled with sparks of pure electricity, adorning his wild, messy pelt. It was Philip, with a proud smirk on his face.

"I just wanted to tell you that I want to go out. It's getting boring here..."

"Is that so?" Norsoe questioned, incredulously glancing at him. "Well, fine. I'll let you go out, but don't blow your cover, or else..."

"Like that would happen." Philip shot back. Norsoe opened up the portal for him, which he immediately crossed over.

Norsoe opened up the portal, and I leaped on the void space, taking me to the worthless outside world.

------

I grunted as the portal disappeared, leaving remnants of darkness from its retreat.

"Phil! There you are!"

I cocked my head to my side, and saw Sun, the Espeon panting heavily.

"Phil, do you have any idea how many hours we looked for you?" Lance the Lucario grumbled.

"Yeah, yeah, just get on with it." I growled.

"Hey, chill buddy!" Sun says, putting a paw on my back. "We're best buds, remember?"

Enough with the 'best bud' thingy already. How childish.

"Yeah, we are!"

I groaned. "Guys, get off me..."

"Nope!"

"Argh! Why are you two so annoying?!"

"Hahahaha!"

Yes, we may be 'friends', but I hate these 'friendship activities'. We're just friends because I owe them my life. It happened when I was still an Eevee...

Flashback

I woke up when I heard some Pokémon chatting endeslessly, which was seemingly annoying to my ears. My eyes blinked and fluttered open, catching a blurry image of a Pokémon.

I squinted my eyes, and saw an Espeon and a Riolu. They turned to me, seeing I was awake, which brought bright smiles on their muzzles.

"Oh my Arceus! Good thing you're finally awake!"

"Yeah, and I thought you were dead. Thank Arceus!"

"Who are you guys?" I asked, confused.

"I'm Sun, while that Riolu over there is Lance."

"Sooo... what's your name?" Lance asked.

Then it hit me. I couldn't think straight. I couldn't remember anything. It was like a giant eraser came and erased every memory I had.

I shook my head, causing Sun and Lance to frown.

"You don't remember?!" Lance gasped.

My head hurts, and it was covered in bandages. I also had a broken paw and a scraped ear; both were hurting terribly.

"Just as I feared." Sun sighed. "You lost your memories."

No... it can't be...

I stared sadly at him, wondering if I could ever have them back. I would do anything just to have them back. Now, I'm stuck with these two.

"Can I borrow your scarf?" Sun asked. I took it off for a moment and placed it on the bed.

"S-Sure."

Sun checked every corner of my scarf, squinting his purple eyes. He rubbed his chin as he went on, joined with a curious expression on his face.

"Hmm, I see."

"What is it Sun?" Lance questioned, curiously.

"I think... this scarf has your name in it..."

"It does?"

"Yep. The scarf says it all."

"But scarves don't talk..."

"Lance! You know what I mean!"

I smiled in pure hope as I read the name that was written on it.

"P-Philip." I stuttered. "T-this must be... my name..."

End Flashback

------

That memory...

I was twelve back then. Remembering it felt refreshing, and it snapped me out of it for a new day. I guess I had to forget about Norsoe for a while...

"Phil, you got a new job right? Tell your leader that I'll be sure to hit him if he ever mistreats you." Lance joked.

Darkrai, did he just call her a him? Stupid Lance...

"Hah, honestly, I think you wouldn't want to hit her."

"Wait... your leader's a she?"

"Yup."

"Ahhh... okay! I can even imagine you hitting on her..."

"Lance!"

I sat at the river's edge near our house, the cold wind ruffling my fur. It felt relaxing watching the currents flow to the depths of the oceon. I even saw a pair of Swanna and their Ducklett go out for swimming, the little ones laughing happily with their parents beside them.

I smiled sadly; it brought back memories I'd been trying hard to forget. I wiped a tear from my cheek; my eyes had been welling up with tears again. It was pretty, along with the perfect view of the sunset.

"Hey."

"Kya!"

Splash!

"Blake! Lonnie!" I screamed out in haste, slightly infuriated. I was wet all over, due to jumping into the river face-first! The duo started laughing very hard. My face turned bright red in embarassment.

"Ha ha ha ha ha ha! We never thought you'll get surprized with that so easily!" Lonnie says between giggles. She extended her vines to help me out, and with a cheeky grin on my face, I pulled her in along with Blake!

I laughed, joined with their own laughs. We got out of the water, dripping all over. Lonnie shook the water out of her fur. Blake just extended the height of his temperature, causing the water to evaporate from his body.

I didn't do anything; just sighed and pawed nervously at the dirt. I'm not a Pokémon to do these things. I was a human, after all...

"Um... Kate? Why won't you shake the water out of your fur?" Lonnie asked.

"W-well... I-I..."

"She just likes the water, that's all..." Blake lied.

"Kate... I know he's lying..." Lonnie says, her voice sounding sincere and even more serious. "Please. Tell me the truth."

She sounded desperate; I... I couldn't hide it anymore. It has been locked away for so long now. And now, I must open it to her. I'll tell Philip about this too, when the right time comes.

I sat down, ignoring the wet grass, and my friends joined in. I took a deep breath and exhaled, letting out some Icy Wind, cooling the refreshing air. I blinked gently before glancing at Lonnie.

"Lonnie... I... I used to be a human before I came here. The legendaries brought me here, transforming me into a Pokémon, and the reason, was because of a prophecy. Darkrai, or Norsoe, found the fusion stone, and he happened to fuse himself with Yveltal, thus, combining his ability to distort time and space along with death itself. I don't know why they chose me, and... in that prophecy, I am... the hero."

Blake and Lonnie's jaws hung open, gaping at my words.

"Yeah, I know you're human." Lonnie confessed. "But Blake never told me that you're some kind of hero! I can't believe I--- met you!"

"You know I'm human?" I asked, shocked.

"Heh, I told her about it..." Blake chuckled. "So... what's about the prophecy?"

I racked my brain, trying to recall the words in that poetic heck of a prophecy. Just then, Irazi's voice made its way to my head.

In a thousand years,

A dark one will rise,

fusing nightmares and death

into one,

Peace will erupt into chaos,

nightmares will invade one's dreams,

and power that will

truly destroy the worlds.

A hero will come to stop him,

neither Pokémon or spirit,

armed with abilities and the form

of a Pokémon, characterized with courage, grace, a great longing for justice, and tasked with a journey to complete five tasks to discover powers of her own through passing temptations, an element to be chosen from eight, a scar to one envies most, a sacrifice to save one's life, and a discovery of a lifetime!

"Irazi?"

No reply. I heaved a deep sigh. It was possible she was still upset about me.

I told them about the prophecy, and every word in it seemed to come out unknowingly from my lips.

They stared at me, impressed. Even I was surprized at myself. I hardly ever memorized the prophecy, and it was like I was the one who made it for recalling every word of it.

"But I did something terrible..."

"What is it?"

"I had shouted mean words at Palkia, or Irazi..."

"You mean the Pokémon that controls space?"

"Exactly. I got mad at her, for telling me that my parents are gone..."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

Blake was thinking about something, rubbing his chin repeatedly. Suddenly, he snapped his fingers, brightening up.

"Aha! Maybe we could accompany you to apologize to her!"

"W-what?! How can that be possible?!"

"Listen, you said they could take you to the dream world, right?"

"Yeah, but... that was according to Irazi's powers!"

"Kate, I believe you can do this," the Charmeleon says, with Lonnie holding his left paw. I gotta admit; they looked cute together. My friends took my forepaws in theirs, as we took deep breaths.

"By the power of space, please, bring us to the dream world." I said, the words feeling like a small, slimy pebble rolling down my tongue. Nothing happened.

"By the power of space, I command you to bring us to the dream world!"

And soon, to our surprize, a whirlwind of multiple colors surrounded us, taking my breath away.

--------

I opened my eyes, seeing that we made it!

"Kate! You did it!" Blake and Lonnie cheered.

"No. We did it."

"Ahem." Someone coughed, clearing her throat.

"I-Irazi-"

The legendary raised a paw to cut me off, and my mouth clamped shut. My ears quivered nervously, and I stared at the floor below me.

"Hmm. I see you brought some friends here."

"I-I can explain-"

"No need for that. Using the power of space? Clever. I've never thought you can do that."

I hung my head as low as I could. Maybe she was even more angry at me using her own power? I opened my muzzle to speak, but Blake beat me to it.

"She's here to apologize, oh great Palkia."

Irazi's eyes narrowed, and she locked her eyes with mine. My heart pounded against my ribs; who knows what punishment will I get for shouting to a deity?

"No human and Pokémon has ever succeeded in using my power of space. It is indeed difficult to understand its uses and meaning, along with its purpose. But you, you managed to do it, along with your friends. I guess friendship really saved the day, huh?"

I never looked behind me, but I know what they're doing. They are grinning in pride.

"Irazi, I just wanted to tell you that I'm really sorry about yesterday. I acted like a real jerk to you, when you were only trying to explain! I know, I'm a really stupid person to doubt you, and I have no right for that! I've been disrespectful and indeed super dense to understand things properly, and I'm sorry for that. Please, forgive me, and I'm willing to take any punishment from you just to be forgiven."

Saying those words I dropped to the floor and bowed respectfully to the high ruler of space.

"Stand up, child."

Child? Does that mean...?

"I already forgave you for that. I understand your love for your parents, and I know how much it hurts to lose someone you loved. I know you're only distraught and confused yesterday, causing you anger. That's why-"

Irazi was cut off when a blue ball of fur had rammed against her; which was obviously me, giving her a big hug. She wrapped a paw around me, hugging me back.

"Child-"

Blake and Lonnie started cheering with joy. She forgave me, and I must cherish her forgiveness with great care, not to break it again. Tears of joy rained from my eyes. It was a moment worth to cry for, and it was better than to hold yourself back.
