Chapter 25 - A Leader's Advice

Lonnie's P.OV.

****

I know that Kate had recovered from her injuries for several weeks, and right now, she's been training like it was the last day of her life. Taking a glance from her, she's been using trees as training dummies, knocking rows of them with series of attacks and Iron Tails.

"That's your fifth tree today." I called out. She grinned and again, the sharp glint of her Iron Tail swallowed the blue from her tail into steel-white, proudly displaying its fine, majestic structure. Leaping up, another tree went down from one slice, thanks to the sharp blade of her Iron Tail.

"Sixth." She replied with a smirk. I let out a laugh as she did that; it felt silly.

"Cool." Blake smiled behind me.

"Now, can I put this training to a test?" Kate smiled, her tail wagging slightly.

"A battle, is it?" Blake beamed. "Count me in!"

"I-I'll just... you know... w-watch..." I stuttered as I padded quietly to a corner, sitting down.

"Kate, are you sure to go against Blake? I mean, he's a fire type while you are an ice type!" I exclaimed.

"Lonnie, I'll be fine. What's the worst that could happen?"

"Fine. Just make sure you'll be okay, okay?"

"Okay."

Kate positioned into her occasional stance while Blake just crossed his forepaws, smiling calmly at the ice fox in front of him.

"You go first." Blake smirked. The Glaceon smiled and immediately shot an Ice Beam at him, which he simply retaliated with a Flamethrower; both moves colliding at the center of the field, causing themselves to be covered in a cloud of smoke.

An Icy Wind blew up, blowing away the smoke. With the now-visible field, the two was back at having advantage again. The Charmeleon took a deep breath before exhaling a Heat Wave, only to be blown away by Kate's Blizzard.

Blake grunted at frustration as Kate rushed towards him with Iron Tail. He raised his fists and began striking the ground with Power-Up Punches, causing the ground to crumble beneath him and cause a slight fissure. Kate tripped and fell, and Blake tried to land a fist on her face, and as he did, his paw was effortlessly warded off by Kate's, along with a smirk on her face.

Stunned, the Charmeleon stood there for a few seconds, and the Glaceon immediately grabbed Blake's other paw and threw him behind her. The fire lizard landed on his paws and growled. The battle seemed to be a draw between them, and Blake was eager to win.

He screamed in anger and a Dragon Rage erupted from him, hitting Kate. Blake smirked as he opened his eyes, glancing at his opponent. His smile tilted into a frown as she remained standing without a single scratch on her.

"Are you sure about a Dragon Rage?" Kate teased. I heard Philip chuckle when she said that; the Jolteon eyeing her with amazement.

"Just wait 'till you see, ice fox!" Blake roared. I frowned at him, remembering that Charmeleon turn aggresive whenever they cross paths with a strong opponent.

"Kate, watch out! There's something wrong about Blake!" I called. Kate frowned when I said that, and I could see the guilt etching on her face. Blake charged and Kate simply side stepped; the Charmeleon crashing into a tree. She shook her head in disappointment.

"Relax, Blake. You let frustration take control of you, and it made you too impulsive about your movements. Just relax and control your instincts. Don't let them control your real self. Take a deep breath in and breath out..."

Blake stood up and smiled. He seemed calmer now, different from the Blake I saw earlier who was fighting like a reckless monster.

"Thanks Kate. I'm sure that no one ever regrets about you being our leader."

The Glaceon just smiled and blushed as Philip clapped his paws for her. I giggled; she obviously has a crush on him.

Then all of a sudden, her ears perked up as she turned and raced into the forest.
