Chapter 30 - Alpha and Omega

Katherine's P.O.V.

It took a long walk to get to the get in Everglade Forest. The place was murky and spooky enough to scare a Pyroar away, and I identified that it would take us more than fifteen minutes to get to our destination. Also, the map was adding the stress. It was hectically confusing with lots of twists in the pathlines, breaking out my happy mood.

My paws ached and became weary from the walk and it almost took all of my willpower to walk on. I snorted grumpily and angrily stuffed back the map into my saddlebag.

My friends were eerily silent and it made me feel uncomfortable; I wasn't really used to this. Bushes rustled against my pelt and the sound of snapping twigs made it quite disturbing.

Soon enough, the shrubbery opened into a clearing, revealing clusters of permafrost coming out from the dungeon. I sighed out in relief as I happily trudged inside.

"Not bad." Blake murmured. My ears pricked as they flicked around like radars. I swear I could see a dark silhouette in the shadows, but maybe it was just something; a trick on my eyes.

"How come the other team didn't reach it here now?" I asked. Lonnie shrugged and Philip just looked away. I let out a sigh as I took a step inside. Snow crunched against my paws; my fur starting to blend in with the icy blanket, and it briefly camouflaged my body.

I flinched as I felt tufts of fur tangled against my left paw. My teammates gasped as a yelp escaped my throat as the mysterious being grabbed me by my tail. My natural instincts got triggered and it forced an Ice Beam to exceed as a ball of icy energy.

The beam of ice sent the attacker backwards and using it as an advantage, I rushed forward and pinned its shoulders into the ground. Greenish light covered the mysterious Pokémon and after a few seconds, it altered to a shape of a Zoroark.

"Not bad, alpha!" It laughed. I realized it was a female. Laughing nervously, I released her as I stepped aside, immediately feeling senses of déjà vu crossing my mind. Luckily, Philip managed to snap me out of it.

"Zora," He rasped. "Its no wonder why we've met again."

"Wait... you know her?" Blake, Lonnie and I gasped in sync. He gave a plain, unbellishing nod as he gave a sheepish scratch at the back of his neck, joined by a nervous laugh. At that very moment, a Lucario, Espeon, and an Absol descended from the darkness. They seemed to be of a noble kind, judging by the humble aura they gave off.

"Sun and Lance." I echoed, dramatically raising an eyebrow as I synched every name with Philip. The Jolteon was shocked, whipping his sight onto mine. He seemed more mortified than surprized, which snaked a muffled laugh into my muzzle.

"H-how did you know?! What are you; some kind of creepy stalker?! How?!"

I turned pale, couldn't take the holding anymore. I laughed tremendously, giggles echoing the dungeon walls. He stood back, abashed from his reaction from earlier. His face had flushed completely red.

"Once upon a dream~" I giggled, sarcastically trying to sound as it was just a simple, funny joke. Lonnie laughed beside me, trying hard to hold it.

"Phil, you rascal, why are so embarrased?" Lance snickered, roughly messing his fur atop his head with series of ruffles. Philip grunted and slapped the Lucario's paw away, growling menacingly.

"Idiot!" He barked. Sun and the Absol beside him snickered in laughter.

"How casual is it, Philip?" Lonnie giggled. Sun gasped and immediately stepped forward, shaking Lonnie's right paw. "Nice to meet you, my beautiful demoiselle!" He grinned, giving a kiss on the grass fox's paw. She blushed and backed away, causing Blake to frown, mortified; he knew she is his crush.

"We're Team Omega, by the way." Absol stated. "I'm Aiden, and as you probably know, the Zoroark is Zora the team leader, the Lucario is Lance, while this little Espeon here is Sun."

"Little?! Ai-dy! It sounds so unmanly and childish! How could you!"

"It's the same way that you called me Ai-dy instead of Aiden!"

Zora slapped a paw against her forehead in embarassment. Ai-dy? Sun is calling him with such a cute name. No wonder why these two had a unique connection somehow.

"Team Alpha," I said, shaking Zora's paw. "I'm Katherine, while these are my friends, Lonnie, Blake, and you know- P-Philip."

Zora chuckled as she heard his name. "Alpha. Omega. Alpha and Omega. Such a coincidence! Goes for the name and the team-up!"

She seemed cheerful and kind; the total opposite of that certain Zoroark that attacked me a day ago. I smiled brightly as we observed the other team.
