Chapter 5 - Dark Pokémon?!

I walked through the noisy crowd, hearing multiple comments about my so-called victory. I rolled my eyes and I knew Blake did the same.

"Where do you think we should go next?" Blake asked.

"Why? Shouldn't we-"

"Come on, it's our chance to have fun!" He insisted.

"Promise you won't regret this?"

"Of course! One hundred percent?"

"Oh, really?"

"Promise! I swear!"

"Okay then..."

"I think we should go to..."

Blake's eyes widened, expecting for my answer.

"-THE BOOKSTORE!"

I heard him groan behind me.

--------

"That's a lot of books."

"Hey! I only brought four books!"

"W-Whatever! Don't you have mercy on my Poké? Why, Arceus?! Why?"

I took a glance to the Pokémon on the counter. He was a Lucario with a cool hairstyle on him.

"Thanks for shoppin' miss. Hope ya'll havin' an awesome day."

I smiled back at him. Just then, I heard something I shouldn't.

"But Dad-"

"Stop it, runt! You're the reason why she's not in this world anymore!"

The deep voice said, giving the owner of the sweet voice a push.

I ran outside and saw a male Luxray and a female Leafeon. The Leafeon had a mix of emotions on her face; fear and anger. But the most visible of all was sadness.

"I SWEAR WHEN I SEE YOU AGAIN, I WON'T HESITATE TO ELECTROCUTE YOU UNTIL YOU DROP DEAD IN FRONT OF EVERYONE HERE!! UNDERSTAND?!!"

The Leafeon cowered before him, shivering in fear.

"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!!! GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!!"

The Leafeon bolted away from him, crying as if in agony, her long leafy tail waving in the wind. That's it. I'm not taking any chances.

"Hey Sir!" I yelled at the Luxray. Blake quickly covered my mouth, but I managed to break away from him.

"She's your daughter, isn't she?"

"This is none of your business, kid-"

"Wrong. I'm a teenager." I said, standing as bold as I can. "Why did do it?!" I asked.

"I DID IT BECAUSE SHE IS THE REASON

WHY MY WIFE IS NOT HERE ANYMORE!!!" He screamed at my face. Blake turned pale as if he saw a legendary. Luckily, I managed to stay undaunted and shot back, "Why do you keep blaming her?! It's not her fault! You should be happy your daughter is still here to love you!!!"

Many Pokémon stared at us for making a scene. Good. I have their attention now. The Luxray's face crumpled in shame, but he did not show it.

"Anyway, I had to go now."

I turned towards the direction of the running Leafeon and ran after her.

"Wait up!"

"Get away from me!"

"I'm trying to help!"

"Stay away!" She said, and shot a Magical Leaf at my direction. I countered it using Swift, but some of the remaining leaves hit me and sent me tumbling backwards. Something on my neck came off and I didn't know what it is.

"Leafeon!" I yelled at her. I realized she has came to a stop near the fountain, leaning on it and crying her eyes out.

(Come to think of it, it kinda reminds me of Cinderella crying on the fountain)

I approached her and said,

"Are you okay?"

"O-of course I'm not okay!" She shouted at me with a low growl coming from her. I was taken aback by her hostility, and she was twice my size, but I let it slide and went on.

"I-It's gonna be alright-" I said, caressing her back, then she cut me off.

"N-no *sob* it isn't!" She sobbed. "He's *sob*terrible! I won't go *sob* home to him ever again!"

"But he's still your Dad." I said. "Nothing can change that."

"I-*sob* I'm afraid-*sob* I have-*sob*to leave and never return!" Then she squeezed me with a hug. I let her tears sink on my mangled Eevee fur. That'll calm her nerves.

I'm not really used to dramatic scenes, but I'll just let this one slide.

"Y-You can...let...me go..now..." I rasped.

"S-Sorry..."

Then she turned tail and started to walk away.

"Kate." Someone whispered. Startled,I turned around and saw Blake.

"That was insane! Why did you do it?"

I ignored him as I looked at the Leafeon. I realized I didn't even ask for her name.

"Now what?" Blake asked. "Don't forget you made quite a scene out here!"

I glared at him and said,

"It was nothing. It just-it kind of bugs me to see someone get...you know..."

My voice trailed off as I heard a high-pitched scream.

"SOMEBODY HEEEEELP!!!"

"A NIDOKING?!!"

"HE'S GOING CRAZY!"

"THE PROPHECY MUST BE TRUE!"

"THE UNKNOWN HERO; HE OR SHE MUST HAVE TAKEN A STEP INTO THIS WORLD!!!"

"HERE?"

"HERE!"

Prophecy? Hero? What are they talking about? I was deep in my thoughts when I felt a push from someone.

"WATCH OUUUUTTT!!!"

"OW!" I yowled. I saw a female Arcanine with a white scarf on her neck. She was staring at me, her black eyes expressed with concern.

"Are you okay?" She asked. Her voice was young and pleasant to hear.

"I-I'm fine..."

"Good. Now go, we'll handle this."

So there's more of her-I mean... Does she have a team or something?

I looked up and saw the others. One was a male Sceptile, second was a male Pyroar, third was a female Pidgeot, and of course, the female Arcanine.

I saw the rampaging Nidoking, and it went straight for the Arcanine, but I used a Hyper Beam on Nidoking, which caused him to tumble backwards.

"I want to help!" I shouted at her.

"Thanks, but stay out of this!" She shouted back at me.

I didn't listen. I want to prove myself if I want to become a rescuer at the Rescue Team Guild.

"C'mon, Blake!" I yelled at the paralyzed lizard. He charged at the Nidoking with a Flamethrower from his mouth.

I went on and used Swift, until the Nidoking got enraged and used Slash on me. I dodged all his attacks and jumped clean on him, and used an Iron Tail attack.

The Pyroar used a Flame Charge, the Sceptile with a Leaf Blade, the Pidgeot with an Air Slash, and the Arcanine with a Fire Blast.

And finally, Blake with an Inferno, and me with a Hyper Beam. The combination went successful.... or so we thought. The Nidoking remained standing, and I heard it speak,

"You're very lucky to have someone with you, human girl. I'll be back!" It said, and vanished. Blake and I couldn't believe our eyes.

The Nidoking appeared inside a dark and gloomy palace. Stumbling in the darkness, he mentally cursed himself, and muttered, "Damn that stupid human, she managed to escape my grasp..."

"Escaped?!" A deep voice interrupted the silence. The Nidoking bowed in the direction and said,

"Oh, great Lord, King of darkness and nightmares-"

"Enough stalling. I knew what you did. What a shame. You can't even accomplish that simple task I gave to you. You can't even catch that simple human girl..."

"Simple?! She's getting stronger my Lord! What should we do?!" The Nidoking asked. The mysterious Pokemon snapped its fingers, and the Nidoking crumbled into ash before his very eyes.

"That Arceus..." He muttered, spitting the Alpha Pokemon's name like poison. "She's just a tiny, weak Eevee, and that damn Arceus managed to make her strong like any other hero before HER!How could this happen?!"

Just then, a Mightyena appeared before him.

"My Lord-"

"Stop blabbering and get to work!" He snapped.

"But I have an idea!" The Mightyena shouted with glee. "We can recruit another one! One who is strong and smeared with jealousy and hatred towards the human girl! Isn't that great?" He beamed.

"Great idea!" The dark one smirked. "Go, and don't return until you found another one!" He ordered with an evil laugh.

-----------That night--------------------------------

I was in a place full of swirling colors. Again.

"Hello? Anyone here?" I asked.

"Hello, child."

I jumped in surprize as another voice joined me. It was a gigantic dragon Pokémon with pearls on its body.

"Do not be afraid. I won't hurt you."

"W-Why did you bring me here?" I stuttered, intimidated by the dragon's large size.

"I brought you here, for a reason." It spoke in a female voice, in a calm tone.

"Now, do not be flustered child." She said. I felt more flattened than flustered. The one I am speaking with was Palkia, one of the greatest legendaries of all time, er...space.

"Arceus has taken a liking to you." She continued. "He gave you those Pokemon abilities for protection. A dark soul is rising. We need your help."

"H-How can I help you? I'm just a sixteen-year old girl! I almost got pummeled by a fighting type and almost got mauled by Nidoking!"

"You are the unknown hero, Katherine."

Shocked for her to know my name, Palkia just smiled a warm one and said,

"I can read inside hearts, you know. You have a good heart. You fight for your friends. And..."

Her voice trailed off.

"He's here."

"He-who?"

"It's up to you now, child. He's been here spreading nightmares and chaos! You must be good to fulfill the prophecy and-"

"And?"

"Your fate..." She said. "Will be a dangerous one. Dark Pokémon will come after you, and the dark soul itself. You must have the courage, and never give in to darkness. Understand?"

Palkia stared at me, her eyes looking deep into mine.

"U-Understood..." I stuttered.

"Good. I have faith in you."
