Chapter 6 - Application

Katherine's P.O.V.

*******

I woke up from my dream, her voice still ringing in my ears.

"You are the unknown hero, Katherine."

No. I'm no hero! There's seems to be a mistake. What did Arceus see in me? I can't be a hero. I couldn't. I wouldn't. I looked up to the sky and saw a full moon. It was late at night, I'm awake, and legendaries call me a hero.

Hero...

The word was bugging me. I couldn't sleep. I mean-when was the last time you saw a sixteen-year old become a hero? I knew I read these from books, but this is real life. This... could all be a dream. But no.

"Dark Pokemon, even the dark soul itself will come after you."

"The prophecy is all about you."

"He's here."

Stop it! I'm not a hero! I said, mentally cursing at myself.

"Katherine."

Startled, I turned around and saw no one. Am I going nuts or something?

"You're not going 'nuts', child."

"Palkia?" I asked.

"Hush... I'm speaking towards you with telepathy. You can speak with your mind."

"Sorry..."

"I heard you were troubled. You still  can't believe you're the hero, don't you?"

Oh crap. This is embarassing.

"Well... I-"

"I understand. But explain why you are so bold and brave then during the time that Dark Nidoking attacked. Those are the common traits of a hero, you know."

"N-No it isn't! It's just-that-I-"

"You have to admit you're a heroic person, Katherine. I now see what Arceus saw in you. Even Akael-Mewtwo, saw it in you too."

"Wait, did you say-you got nicknames?"

"W-we, all right. We got nicknames, but we prefer humans to call us by our Pokemon names. That is, well... something you need to know."

"What's yours then?"

"My name's Irazi. As you know, Akael is Mewtwo, Timinium is Dialga, and Sulu is Entei, Jetstream is Suicune, Electron is Raikou, Himoto is Terrakion, Steele is Cobalion, Elena is Virizion, Terrallia is Xerneas, Orion is Yveltal, Skylon is Reshiram, and finally, Doxium, is Zekrom."

"Are there more of the legendaries out there?"

"Yes, but most of them prefer to be called by their Pokemon names."

Oh... So this proves legendaries are like us...

"Go to sleep now child. You still have someone to recruit in your rescue team tommorow. Good night."

"Good night, Irazi."

I yawned, feeling very sleepy indeed. I need some sleep!

------------------Next morning---------------------

I covered my eyes with a blanket when the sunlight hit my eyelids. I yawned lazily and got up for the day, stretching

my limbs in puppy style. Too bad I can't use my old method though.

I got out from my room, still deep in my thoughts. I knew I was confident enough to talk to Irazi, but this one's different.

Suddenly, Blake's voice broke into my thoughts.

"-Morning. Did you have a good night?" He asked. I gave a plain nod and sat on a corner.

"Arceus..." Blake muttered. "It's been days, and we didn't even find a new member yet. I'm afraid we had to let go of this-"

"NO!" I shouted.

Blake stared at me, startled by my sudden outburst. My face flushed light pink in embarassment.

"Uh... I mean... we-we can't just give up yet..."

Then all of a sudden, something

flashed in my mind. Arceus! I must have forgotten it somewhere in town!

"Gotta run!"

"Where in the world are you going?"

"To the town! I'll be back soon!"

Lonnie's P.O.V.

I stared at the purple scarf on my paw. The Eevee from yesterday had forgotten it, and I had to give it back.

But how?

"E-Excuse me sir." I asked a Zoaroark. "Have you seen a female Eevee in these parts? She kinda wears this purple scarf."

"Ah... You mean the winner from yesterday? Well, too bad. She left, and I saw no sign of her."

Argh... Where does she even live anyway?

"It's got to be around here somewhere..."

That voice sounds familiar... I turned around and saw her, her face flushed with dismay.

"Hey."

She turned around and saw me.

"Oh, hi. You're the Leafeon from yesterday, aren't you?"

"T-Thanks for standing up for me. See, I found your scarf..."

"Thank you!" She beamed, swiping it from my grasp. "You have no idea how hard I looked for it!"

"Well... It was nothing." I said, still baffled at the fact that she sounded more like a grown, teenage Pokémon than an Eevee-kit at her size. "I'm Lonnie."

"My name's Katherine, but you can call me Kate for short." She introduced herself.

I took a glance on the articles that were pasted on the brick wall. Still a job hunter...

"Are you looking for a job?" Katherine asked, her voice breaking into my thoughts.

"Y-Yeah. Been searching for one in days, still no one suited me for it.

Are you looking for a job too?"

Kate's eyes widened, and replied, "Um...actually, I was looking for a member in our Rescue Team. Still looking for one though."

Gasping, we looked at each other. Now this is a job I could apply into!

"Were going to the Rescue Team Guild!" We synched. We high-fived, knowing we could be teammates. A bad day, as a good day!

Katherine's P.O.V.

"I'm sooo tired of waiting...." Blake complained.

"Let's just wait a little longer...." I said. "Ah! There she is!"

I saw the grass fox, wearing a brown treasure bag, her tongue lolling out.

"H-Hey..." She said. "You're Blake,right?

Kate told me a lot about you. Anyway, I'm Lonnie... and as you know, I ran away from home."

There was still a trace of sadness on her face.

"I-It's gonna be alright." says Blake. Lonnie's tears came out, and cried on Blake.

"Lets just go already, and let go of the past, okay?" I said. We walked on the path, on the way to the...

------------------Hall of Guilds---------------------

We walked on the amazing hallway, its walls decorated with pictures of legendary teams and heroes. Blake's eyes shimmered with happiness, as he was ready to have adventures, even become a legend.

We walked past the Medical Guild, Exploration Guild, Engineering Guild, Science Guild, until we reached the Rescue Team Guild. So cool, I thought. We're about to become rescuers!

We entered the Guild's Hall and asked for directions to the Rescue Team Guildmaster's office.

"Who is your leader?" A Braviary asked.

"I think the position goes to Bla-"

"Katherine is our leader." Blake replied.

"What?!" I asked in disbelief. "But I-"

"Kate, you are one of the bravest Pokemon I've ever met. The position goes to you. You are worthy of it. The spotlight is yours."

Blushing, I raised my paw.

"The leader, eh? I think you should decide what you would evolve into sometime."

"But I'm not that short-"

"Hush! Do you want to go in or not?"

He opened the door and motioned for me to go inside.

"Hello again, little Eevee."

Surprised, I saw it was the Arcanine from yesterday!

"H-Hello, Guildmaster..."

"Please, just call me Plasma. I suppose you're Team Alpha's leader, right?"

"Uh-huh.." I gave a nod.

"Well, that's good. You're in!"

"What?!"

"Well, normally, you have to take a test before you become a team here in the Guild. But since we're running out of applicants, you're automatically-IN!"

"KYAAAAAHHH! Thank you Plasma! I'll never forget your kindness!"

"Wait, It's not over yet... here are your badges. You may need them to help other Pokemon recognize you as rescuers, and they present your positions." She says, giving me three of them, each showing an image of a Pokeball with wings.

"And it is a tradition that every rescuer should wear a scarf; you tell your Leafeon friend for that."

I nodded.

"And here are your equipment for tommorow's mission, just in case. You're starting tommorow."

I rushed out of the room, and tackled Blake playfully on the ground.

"WE'RE IN!" I said.
