I was pretty sure she was pissed by this from her glare which I could feel along my back. Pretty soon I could hear someone walking towards us which I assumed was Dilya's mother. Instead it was King Bronze of the human kingdom of Azeroth when I looked back at him, he seemed pleased.
"You love getting under your mothers skin don't you Dilya?" Bronze asked her as he walked over "If so you have done a splendid job at it, I won't be surprised if she ends up yelling at everyone. Although she might disown you and congratulations Dust, Dilya on this" Bronze said as he stood by my side.
"I know that's a possibility but its a risk I'm willing to take" Dilya said simply "If she does ask, tell her there is nothing she can do to make me change my mind"
Bronze nods "Will do and Dust? How are things going for the final preparation before activation of construct?"
"Smoothly, so far so good you can expect the construct to be up and running shortly" I told Bronze in a formal tone of voice.
"Good, now I'll leave you two love birds to be." With that he gave us a slight wave and walked off back to the gathering. Dilya looked back at the gathering and stuck her tongue out at her mother before looking back at me and then the Void Construct.
Soon indeed one of the scientist came up to me and informed me that everything was ready. I looked at the gathering and announced this news to them, in that moment I saw hope for a better future for us all. I was given the go sign as they put on the protective eyewear myself, Dilya and everyone else did the same. Then the activation trigger was pulled, all 5 years of my work is now coming to life in front of me.
Gears chugging and churning, belts moving, the machinery configuring itself for this specific task. Parts slamming and locking together, making ready for the void's intervention. The center where the portal was going to be made is crackling with energy, a dark spot forming there with an eerie hum. The glowing spot increased. It was blindingly bright even though it was as dark as the night.
And finally there was a immense burst of power like never before surging through our systems. Three Void tendrils lashed out violently before anchoring itself to its surroundings. Then there was silence waiting on the results of this experiment. The silence was deafening to me, then a voice spoke up.
"The experiment… was a success! The energy levels are off the charts, there has never been a source of power that strong before. These readings are even stronger than forbidden and lost magic!" The voice exclaimed.
That moment was joy, all of my work is not a waste after all! People looked at each other and the machine. As fast as our joy came it vanished when a laugh was heard through the portal.
