Camryn's POV
My head felt as if it was on fire; the pressure was becoming almost unbearable. The smell of metal and something rotten burned my nose.
In the distance I could hear whispers but maybe it was just my mind playing tricks on me. I had been in and out of consciousness for who knows how long, never being able to tell dreams from reality.
I opened my eyes reluctantly, feeling heavy as they fluttered open.
I was in a dark room, a cell of some sort judging by the iron door. The room was completely made of concrete, the leftover residue of blood splattered across the walls.
The room was cold, and heavy, and it had me trembling in my skin.
The heavy door to the room opened with a loud creek. Angello followed by a man walked in shutting the door behind them.
I jolted to life once I felt water splashed on me, adding to my already freezing body, Angello smiled and threw the empty bucket across the room.
"Wakey, wakey, Princessa," he said, grabbing a chair from the far corner of the room and setting it in front of me.
The other man leaned against the wall with his arms and legs crossed, his face void of emotion. He resembled Angello, brothers maybe?
Unlike Angello, the man had short dark brown curly hair, and piercing glacier eyes. He wore a white fitted T-shirt and dark blue jeans, he was way more handsome than Angello was.
"Eyes over here, princessa," Angello hummed, grabbing my chin. "Who do you work for?"
I simply shrugged, "I don't know."
"What the fuck do you mean you don't know."
"I. Don't. know."
"Don't lie to me princessa, my patience is low and I might resort to violence."
His serious face curved into a sinister smile that sent goosebumps all over my body. He pulled out a small pocket knife and my heart rate skyrocketed.
"I'm not lying I really don't know!! All I know is I received an unknown number and they asked me to meet them at a random location. Never the same person twice, and never the same location. They give me jobs and I don't question it."
My breathing was sporadic as I revealed all that I know. Angello looked towards the guy still leaning against the wall as if communicating through telepathy.
"So you worked with these people before on numerous occasions?"
"Yes, I always know it's them because they hand me a piece of paper, 3 pieces of information and one photo of the target."
Both the men laughed as if I had told the funniest joke. God I wanted nothing more than to be curled up in my bed far away from these two.
"Thank you princessa, your services are no longer needed."
Angello put the small knife back into his pocket and took the glock the other man held out and pointed it to my head.
Oh god, oh god, think!!!
My adrenaline was kicking in, my mind raced with infinite possibilities of how I could go about this situation. The cold metal of the barrel pierced my chilled skin, as Angello eyes became merciless.
"Any last words," he asked, that sinister smile appearing on his stupid face.
"Yeah...fuck you."
Although my arms had been tied to the chair, my legs had not and I brought my heel to his shin and kicked as hard as I could allowing me to fall back and the chair to break.
I got up quickly and grabbed the gun he had dropped in order to cradle his now pained leg. I slowly backed away.
"Let's make a deal," I said watching both of them now standing side by side.
"You don't have the right to-,"
"The way I see it, I'm the one with the gun, so let's make a deal I'm sure will benefit both of us."
Both men contemplated my words with careful consideration, displeasure smeared on their faces.
"What do you propose?"
It was the first time the man had spoken and his deep menacing voice boomed with authority.
"I want to live, so in return for not killing me...I can help bring down whoever wanted Angello dead. Once whoever that is is killed, I leave with my life, and your worries are sated. It's a win win for everyone."
Angello tried to step forward but the man held his arm out for him to stop. He wore a cheshire smile, and it chilled me to the bone.
"How about you help us bring down who we already know sent you to kill my brother; you get to live but I own you. You work for me, you fight for me, your life is mine. Consider it a fair trade for trying to take the life of my brother."
"WHAT!! NO!!"
"Then consider yourself as good as dead, because you're not leaving this room and there's two against one. I've humored your petty attempt in trying to save your life, but I have better things to do than waste my time with a little girl holding a gun."
I contemplated his words. WHO THE FUCK WERE THESE PEOPLE!!
"I'm not leaving this room...am I?"
Their silence was all I needed to confirm their truths. Before they changed their minds I made up my own.
"Fine. But one more condition," they wait for me to continue. "This is my business, no one I know will be involved."
The man scoffed, "and why should I honor your condition?"
"Because like you, I do what I have to to keep my people safe. I'm not asking for your protection, just that whatever happens is my consequence."
The man walked over towards me with slow unpredictable steps, I backed further and further away until I hit a wall. The gun I held in my hand was of no protection as he tightened his grip around my wrists making the weapon drop to the floor; our bodies only inches away from each other.
He towered over me, those lifeless glacier eyes set upon my brown ones. My heart rate quickened, not sure of what was going to happen. Would he kill me? Surely not with his bare hands...right?
I felt as if I couldn't breath, maybe I wasn't. Calm down!! You're losing it, control, you need control!!
The man smiled evilly, letting out a small scoff.
"I agree to your condition," he said, releasing my now reddened wrists.
Without another word he turned around and walked towards the door, but not before giving Angello a nod.
"Name?"
I looked at Angello who was now reaching down for the gun, safely tucking it away on his belt .
"My name…"
"Yes, you never gave me your name at the club, what do I call you?"
I laughed internally. Ohhhh yeah, it didn't even phase me.
"Camryn...Camryn Reed."
Angello walked to the cell door and held it open. He smiled warmly, giving a small bow and gesturing for me to walk through.
"Well, Camryn...welcome to Hell."
