A few days back
Two black S.U.V.s parker a few meters away from Det. Kyle's home. Six individuals came out of the vehicles and began surveying the neighborhood. It was about eleven pm, and most suburban folks were either in their homes sleeping or away for their night shifts. The only sounds one could hear were from the night creatures.
"This is the target location." The leader of the team said once they had ensured nothing was out of the ordinary. "We'll split into three teams, Dan and I will take the front. Team two, Grey and Saul, will take the rear while team three, Sam and Drew, will handle the perimeter. Keep your eyes open and neutralize any threats."
"Copy." They all replied in unison before splitting up.
The leader, Grim, and Dan approached the front door while studying the porch. There was no vehicle or any sign of the owner being at home. No front lights, and everything was pitch black inside.
"Did you catch any scent?" Grim asked.
"Several, but none of them are good news. Several humans have been here in the past few days." Dan replied, as a Lykan, his sense of smell was the best on the team and was why Grim wanted him to tag along.
"And the Silent One?"
"It's still there but very faint," Dan replied.
On reaching the door, Grim and Dan's comms received confirmation of the two other teams being in position. "Breach!" Grim gave the order.
Inside, Dan's face scrunched up, "Everything is like you suspected. There was a cleanup. This whole place reeks."
Grim nodded and then spoke into his comms. "Team two rally on me, team three pull back. Code two; we're on a hunt."
The six proceeded to comb the whole house looking for any clue that their mission intel might have missed.
…
John's phone rang as he was driving to his motel. He picked it up, "Philip, what do you have for me?"
"Our drone just picked up another team that showed up at Kyle's house." Philip (I.S.I., the I.T. expert) voice spoke from the other side.
"Where is Kyle right now?" John asked.
"He's still at the Station investigating his partner's disappearance. But should be closing for the day soon."
"Any movement on the other hotspots?" John asked as he picked the nearest exit and turning his car around to head back to the Black Site.
"None. The Mansion is quiet, the Orphanage seems asleep, and so is Emma's house. Bob's house has the usual activity at this hour." Philip gave a brief situational report of all the spots they were currently monitoring. Thanks to Raymond, they were able to pinpoint four locations that they suspected to harbor the Supernatural.
"I'll be there in five minutes. Keep an eye on everything."
"Sure." Both Philip and John hang up.
John then made another call to Price and ordered him to assemble a tactical team and wait for his arrival.
In about five minutes, he pulled up on the Black Site and went straight in. Inside he found Price and a couple dozen men already geared up and waiting. He geared up too, and they went down to the basement.
"What's the situation at Kyle's house?" John asked immediately after joining their secure channel.
"They are still looking for clues," Philip replied. He had activated all the surveillance they had available inside Kyle's house, allowing him to have video feedback from inside the house.
"Good, we're en-route, E.T.A. ten minutes," John said as they got into four black vans before leaving.
…
Back at Kyle's house, the Tracking Team had gone through the house looking for any clues but found none. The only evidence they had of something happening a few nights ago was the strong smell of cleaning chemicals all over the living room. The rest of the house was relatively normal.
"Whatever happened here was done by professionals. They even cleared the usual mistakes a lot of professionals make," Drew reported.
Grim nodded before asking, "any magical footprint?"
Drew shook his head. As a Daemon, he was the sole magical class on the team comprised of a Lykan, Griffin, Satyr, Manticore, and a Harpy. As the two spoke, Saul, the Harpy, had been silently setting up a device on the living room's coffee table. Once done, he clicked on a peculiar button, and the device came live.
A blue beam shot to the living room roof before giving a short blip and then expanded to cover the whole living room. "The sweeper is activated," Saul said into his comms before the whole team converged into the living room.
A moment later, under the blue light, several objects were highlighted in different shades of blue. The highlights started forming outlines of footprints and body shapes. There were four outlines of humans in various states on the floor.
Saul then grabbed at empty air near a particular shape on the floor. The shape was raised and then compressed. He did the same to the other body shapes until he had all four shapes arranged side by side.
"Based on this data, the fight was only between two people. The Silent One and the Police Detective. Then there is this…" Saul then separated another outline; this one was the outline of a butt. "…This outline doesn't match the three and isn't in our database. Based on the data, this guy was seated on one this seat." Saul then showed the team the seat where he picked the outline from. "Finally, the multiple footprints that put a total of fourteen individuals. The Detective and the Silent One not included."
"So, there is also a likelihood the Silent One was kidnapped?" Grim asked, not looking happy at all. Dealing with a dead body was easier than kidnappings. A kidnapping would mean their enemy was expecting them and was probably prepared for them.
A clean up after a dead body usually implied their enemy didn't want to be found, which he wanted to deal with. If the situation turned into a kidnapping, they would go from being hunters to prey, and he had to change tactics.
"Sweep the house for any surveillance devices," Grim ordered immediately.
Saul immediately reached for his backpack and got out a small laptop and a portable antenna, which he set up on the table before working on the laptop. A few seconds later, he gave Grim a grim look.
"There's several of them," Saul stated solemnly.
"Disable them, and alert command we have an information breach. Whoever took the Silent One knows of our existence and might be coming straight for us. Trace the signal. We need to be on the offensive and not the other way round." Grim ordered before Saul began working on his laptop again.
"Tracking them now."
…
"Sir, we lost connection to Kyle's house," Philip said over the comms.
"What happened?" John asked as they were still en-route.
"They figured out we were monitoring them, and the next thing I know, we lose our feeds."
"And the drone?"
"Still operational," Philip replied as he switched to his drone feed.
"Keep on the lookout for any changes. We're almost there." John said before switching to the team channel. "Everyone listen up. Our target knows we are coming. Disregard my initial order. Switch to live rounds if possible. Our first priority is still to capture them alive."
…
"Found our target. Seven miles from our location." Saul declared.
"Other than losing their signal, they have no idea we tracked them. Their technology is still at humans' standards. They won't even notice my hack."
"Good, let's move. In here, we're sitting ducks." Grim ordered before all of them rushed back to their S.U.V.s. He'd rather hit the enemy on his own terms than wait for them to come hit them.
…
As John and his team were nearing Kyle's house, Philip spoke to him again. "They are leaving."
"Follow them," John ordered before broadcasting Philip to the whole team. The four vans then changed their directions and followed the direction Philip gave them.
Soon the two parties were hunting each other down with Grim's team heading for the Black Site while a reasonable distance away from sight, John's team relied on their drone to monitor them.
