Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven

We're now nearly done with the supply run. We only have one house left then we will head to the camp. The back where I'm sitting with Wyatt has bags and crates of food and other supplies. Archer and Coby have stuff in the backseat too.

We hit a couple houses on the run as well. They didn't have much but one had a good bit of medical supplies.

"How do you think the others are doing?" asked Wyatt.

"Hopefully as good as us. If we're lucky, better than us.

"What about Liam and Mom? The ones who stayed at the camp."

"I'm sure they're doing just fine. There's no need to worry about them."

"I can't help but worry about them."

"I understand, and it's okay. It's okay to worry about people."

Coby leaned out the window and looked back to us, "Last stop is a house. It's two stories. You and Wyatt and take one floor and Archer and I can take the other."

"We will take the top floor," I replied.

Coby then backed us into the driveway. We jumped out of the back and stood before the door, waiting on Coby and Archer.

The house looked like a nice house from the outside. It had a garage and a front porch.

Archer swung the door open and we cleared the first floor of the one walker there was.

"We're gonna go upstairs to check and we'll come back down once we're done," I say to the other two.

Coby nodded and I walked up the spiral stairs with my son.

"I can check the master bed and bathroom while you get the other rooms, if you want," I suggest.

"Yeah," replies Wyatt.

I entered the master bedroom and started to search the drawers.

I found a fully loaded beretta with some lose ammo. I put the ammo in my chest pocket.

I took a couple jackets and shirts from the closet. Once it gets cold we will need the jackets and I figured I might as well grab some shirts too.

What I found weird is that there were no pairs of pants in the closet or in any drawers.

After searching the entire room, I went on to the master bathroom.

The first thing I checked was the medicine cabinet. I found some Oxycodone, Azithromycin, and Ibuprofen. I didn't really expect there to be anything in there, so I was lucky to find what I did.

In the counter cabinets I found some rubbing alcohol, gauzes, and some cotton balls.

I put all the stuff in my backpack and was zipping it up when I heard Wyatt shout.

I felt my heart stop as I left the bag on the counter and ran out into the hallway. When I finally found him he was in the last room on the right, well, was in.

Now he was out on the roof above the front porch with a walker crawling through the window to get him.

I ran over the window and sunk the end of the pole into the back of the walker's head, and it went tumbling down.

Wyatt dodged the body as it went off the edge and fell to the grass below.

I grabbed my son's hand and helped him back into the room.

"We are not telling your mother about that," I say once he's back on his feet, "what happened?"

"I came in here and I turn around and there's a walker. It was blocking the doorway so I decided to open the window and the window got stuck, but I got it open enough to get through. Then you came in."

"You have your gun, so why didn't you shoot it?"

"I didn't want to attract more to the house."

"Do you have a knife or something?"

"No."

I sighed and asked, "Are you okay?" P

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Did you search all the rooms?"

"No, this is the last room I have to check though."

"Alright, I'll look with you."

The two of us found a radio and batteries in a drawer and some water bottles on the nightstand.

"Is that everything?" I turned to him.

"Yep. Let's get going."

In the hallway was another door that was, what I'm assuming to be, a closet. It was pushing open a little, then closing again. Like someone or something couldn't get it open.

I gave Wyatt a look that told him to get ready, then opened the door.

A single walker tumbled out and fell down the staircase. It fell over the railing and hit the floor with a loud thud.

"What's going on up there?" I heard Coby shout from the lower floor.

"We're fine," I replied, "and sorry about that."

"Are you guys ready to go?" asked Archer.

"Yeah," I answered as I walked down the now bloody staircase.

"Let's get out of here then," Coby slung his bag over his shoulder as I stepped off the stairs.

The four of us walked out of the house together.

Coby saw the dead walker laying in the grass and asked, "What happened here?"

"Would you like to explain, Wyatt?" I asked him.

Wyatt told Coby and Archer the story while we packed up the truck.

"We're not telling Thea this, by the way," I added.

They laughed as they nodded.

Wyatt and I climbed in the back and as the other two got in the front seats.

****************

When we got back to the camp, they had everything packed up and ready to go.

"Let's figure out the vehicle arrangements before we load up the stuff.

After a few minutes of decided who's gonna ride in which car, we came up with this.

I'll drive my car with Thea, Wyatt, Noah, and Maya.

Coby is driving his truck with Arya and with Daniela and Lucina in the back with the supplies we can fit.

Liam will drive his car with Damien, and Nat.

Adrian will be driving his car with Adira.

Archer will drive the RV with Lucas, Robert, and Katrina.

We managed to fit all our supplies in the vehicles and started on the way to North Augusta.
