Chapter 24 - CHAPTER TWENTY

"Let Brotherly Love Continues"

As months goes by, my business became a success. Juliana and I are now on the third month of our marriage and Juliana is now expecting our first baby. She is seven weeks pregnant on our first baby.

Deep inside, I am so proud for my wife because in spite of me, always staying in New York, she still made sure for us to have a quality time for each other during weekends.

Juliana is still working as a part time teacher on Sunday Schools and an active member of our church in North Carolina, wherein her Dad, David, serves as the senior pastor.

If I will go to describe my life today, I can say that I am happy and contented. Juliana and I serve the Lord together and my work is stable. From time-to-time, I still submit daily devotionals for my column in Reader's Time.

At night, I write my autobiography.

While my life with Juliana is always smooth sailing, it's not the same to the people that are close to me.

Michigan blew her news to our office in New York one day about her engagement. That same day, Franz returned to Ireland.

I still tried to contact Michigan several times but it only goes to voice mail. Franz on the other hand sends me an email.

Subject: Broken and Moving On

I need to take some time off. Send me office works through fax. I just need to mend my broken heart and move on. Sorry for all the trouble.

I place my palm on my face. Oh, God! I need you here for my friends that are so dear to me. Jesus, give me strength!

That same moment, I got a phone call from my wife. "Hon," she said.

I smile. "Hey . . . ," I said.

"Hey yourself. How's your day? Dad brought the girls in a field trip in Brooklyn today. He phoned me and wonder if he can see you. I cannot go there though because I volunteered to facilitate in a pre-encounter."

"Fine by me. I am just so worn out today."

"What happened?"

"Couple's quarrel between my buddies here."

"Oh, sorry. If you're not available, I gonna tell Dad."

"No!" I said. "I actually want some advice from him."

"That's great, and mind you about our couple's encounter Friday night."

I smile again. "I am wondering if we could get the two there."

"You mean Franz and Michy."

"Yeah," I nod.

"You want a help? I think you could get to use a hand there. I'll send an invitation through mail for them."

"That's great. I'll text you their email."

"Nat, I love you."

"Love you too, and be careful," I said as she ends the call.

I meet up with David that day on a nearby Starbucks.

"Hey, Dave," I said as I extend my hand to him. The old man pulls me into a hug and led us both to our seats.

"How's work boy?"

"Not that easy with me hands on, while the other two broke off."

"Oh- I guess that's much of a hand work," he comments.

"Where are the girls?"

"I left them in McDonalds and I'll fetch them later. I just want to talk to you. There's a voice telling me that you could need some talk."

"I'd been praying actually for some Divine intervention here."

"I guess God sent me."

With that, I smile. We are being interrupted by the waiter that hands us our order.

"Thank you," we both said.

"Pal," he said again, "God is actually looking in our hearts, not on our face value. If we let the Lord as the sole motivation and sole reason of everything we do, God will actually blessed the things that you are doing. Even though we haven't started doing it, God is actually finished on fixing our lives. He is very much ahead on. Let me ask you kid, why don't we see more people put their whole heart into their endeavors?"

"Because they lost their sense of purpose that leads to apathy or lack of interest in what they do. It is driven mostly by the influence and lack of motivation or factors that surrounds them."

This time, David smiles to me widely.

"And your friend Michigan is being caught up in an unrequited love to that boy Franz because of her family and another is because of the guilt on their youth."

"How did you know?"

"I am an observant person. Pastoral days help me to know a person just by looking at them."

"So what should I do then?" I ask him while looking straight at his eyes.

David smiles again. "You help them. Your heart tells me so that you must to."

"You think I can do it?"

"You know, faith is easy when you're standing in front of a miracle. The real test of any faith is when there aren't any signs."

"Go that extra mile buddy," he urges me again. "Render more service to others even more of what you are ask of."

That night, I phone Juliana and told her that I can handle this one. "Just reserve seats for four," I said.

"Got it," Juliana replies behind the line. "I'm counting on you. I love you."

"I love you too."

As I hung the phone, I email Michy, Franz, Alfred and his girlfriend Sophie.
