Chapter 34 - Training 17

"Do you guys remember what professor Pier said?" In the middle of the predicament, Stell suddenly asked a question with a bold look on his face.

"What are you talking about? Of course, we do. It is all about the use of our magic, right?" Lee answered him.

"That's correct, but that is not what I am asking about..." Stell responded as he monitors the movements of the scorpions. Five Astrochist fled the battlefield to support the girl who got impaled earlier. They were given an opportunity to save their own selves from fighting these monsters.

"Then, what is it?" A girl named Lynn approached Stell and asked him with a serious face. She looks scared as Stell examined her figure. He nodded and gave a sigh before answering.

"He said that we should use our full power to manifest both of our magical abilities and our own personal synchronization release weapons." He answered.

"Then..." Lee was surprised.

"Yeah... In order to beat these guys. We need to equip all of our PECW and use them to the full extent. That's what Pier has been implying the whole time." Stell smirked. Everyone suddenly regained their confidence after they heard what Stell said.

At this point, everyone thought that they cannot actually use their PECW. They are preoccupied with the plan to engage the enemies and beat one hundred of them without using their own weapons and just their elemental abilities. This plan, however, has been disputed by Pier since even though they are strong with just using their magical abilities and learned spell, it is not easy to take down the monsters that are lurking around the area.

"Now then, everyone who has their PEWC synchronized. Please come with me to fight on the front line. We are going to be the fighter for this round. For those of you who don't have any synchronized weapons yet, please stay on a medium distance and provide any support as you can to help us beat the enemies. Whatever spells that are under the category of long-ranged attacks, please use them to defeat the scorpions!" Stell shouted as he commanded everyone.

All of them started looking at each other while completely being silent. But after a few seconds, they nodded and responded to Stell's commands.

"Yeah!"

"Let's do it!"

"I'll use this sword, just for the sake of defeating them!"

Lee was surprised that Stell has able to command the front line. He walked a few steps in order to approach Stell.

"You... Who taught you all of these?" Lee asked.

"Hmm? What do you mean?" He didn't answer.

"I mean, these leadership abilities. They are precise but it is somehow personalized. And you're not really the type to go on for this command at all." Lee noticed that fact.

Stell has been described to be the most fierce warrior in the group of the Earth Elemental Mages. His charisma didn't come from him being able to wield the idea of becoming a leader. He is supposed to charge the enemies without having any plan but still managed to defeat them and give a better score. However, in this scenario, he was different. It's more like something has changed ever since the last training.

"Well... I have a friend who's really clever to pull anything when he is in a bad condition. Every time that he thinks he lost, he always finds a way to do the impossible and somehow ended up winning. I am applying his technique right here, right now. And to be fair, I'm not really interested in having a plan or leading the whole group. I always wanted to take everything alone. But this time, it is different. I have you, the other Astrochist, and those scared girls out there. If I'm going to charge them alone and died, my pride would have been shattered in an instance. That's why I'm taking all that I have learned from him in order to surpass this test." He answered in a rather, blaring sound.

"Heh... I see, alright then..." Lee shifted his body on the left side and began performing a stance. He reached out his left arm while holding his wand. Yellow particles appeared on the handle and after a few seconds, a large pole popped out and the synchronization was perfectly executed.

"Let's do this!"

"Yeah!"

"AAAAAAA!"

At least 20 of the earth elemental users with their PEWC synchronized ran off to fight the scorpions. Most of them are wielding their personal weapons. Swords, staves, truncheons, axes, shields, and other lethal weapons were used.

"How many of them are here?" Lynn asked while running with Stell and the others.

"Huh? Well... Let's see... About 40 of them are currently spawned right now!" Stell answered.

"Okay, you guys take the right side, I will lead the others for the left side, and let's split up the kills!" She re-routed her position to the left side while commanding the other Astrochist on the front lines.

"Alright! Be careful out there!" Stell responded.

"Stell, what should we do?" Lee asked.

"We will take the right side and meet up with Lynn at the center. For now, let's take them out." He responded with a serious raspy voice.

"Got it!"

Lee evaded the swing of the scorpion's tail. He quickly rolled over the side of it and smashed it with his staff. The damage is not that pretty hard at all so he went back into his position,

"Damn it! Their skin and shells are pretty damn hard. I don't think this will help me do damage to them." Lee said.

"You're just doing it wrong, Lee." Stell said.

"What?"

"Again, use both of your elemental skills, knowledge, and synchronization release in order for you to amplify your attacks. We've discussed this last week." Stell said.

After realizing that Lee was doing it wrong, he started to go in the front line again to engage the scorpion he picked. Once again, he evaded the swing of the venomous tail as he step aside. He continuously rolled his staff while running as fast as he can to avoid being hit by the tail. After doing it for like ten seconds, he saw an opening on its outer shell.

Scorpion's attack is less quick than a normal monster. Every time they swing their tail, the took more time in recovering their momentum before hitting someone. That's why it is easier to evade them mainly because it has timing that could be easily pulled off even if you don't have a keen sense of the surroundings.

Lee didn't stop his rolling as he eventually reached out of the outer shell. Using his elemental powers, he amplified the force of his staff and it gave a yellow glow on its outline pertaining that he used its power. He smashed the scorpion three times and it was a success. The large shockwave of the stick managed to break its body.

Next, he aimed for the legs and it was now vulnerable to kill.

"Earth Magic Skill: Synchronization release: Death stomp!" After casting a spell, he destroyed the Scorpion's head in an instant using his staff. The green blood splattered around the ground and particles were oozing on the air.

"Yes! That's the first kill! How about the others?" He looked around to see what was happening."

Stell using his ax have managed to kill two scorpions in a row. The power of Drake's tooth will amplify his weapon control ten times than a normal fragment. He continued to run in the field while negating the tails of the three scorpions. Eventually, he was cornered in the center. He directly looked at the three scorpions and then suddenly, he jumped in the air.

"Earth Magic Skill: Synchronization Release: Tornado swing!" He cast a spell. He landed on the center once again and it made the ground break apart. Multiple layers of smokes appeared in the sight of the scorpion and it was distracted. However, as they were laying down in the fog, their bodies were suddenly slashed into half instantly and because of this powerful wield, the smokes were also slashed in half.

It was the skill of Stell.

The right side of the field was tainted with green-colored blood. Everyone was able to defeat at least 30 of them and it keeps spawning more scorpions as they kill it.

"We've managed to hold them off for a couple of hours, I guess." Lee said while panting.

"Yeah, it is really hard to keep on fighting when you're exhausted. I think for now we should aid the left side, I'm worried about Lynn's position." Stell didn't hesitate on sitting down to take a rest. He continued to walk even when he cannot lift his Ax anymore.

"This guy... you really have a lot of energy... huh." Lee followed him.

The left side of the field was having trouble with beating the other scorpions. Lynn's team are lacking the members with their PEWC synchronized. They are barely keeping them off by continuously casting a spell on the far left side.

"Lynn! What's the situation?" Stell arrived alongside with the other elemental mages.

"This is bad, some of them are injured. We cannot beat them because we're lacking the front liners. Please save them!" She exclaimed.

"Alright, those of you who still have energy and mana left, please help the other front liners on the left side to fight the scorpions. I'm going to join you guys in a minute. Lee, please take care of the injured Astrochist and bring them on the far side of the mountain with the others." Stell commanded everyone again and they agreed with him.

"Got it!" Lee fled the battlefield and stayed with the injured.

The rest of the Astrochist fought their way off to the left side while beating the scorpions. Lynn, using her sword, slashed multiple scorpions.

She swung her sword in an impactful manner that it made a one-hit damage to the scorpions however after she killed the scorpion on her left side, she failed to swing her sword because her mana is now depleted. The scorpion's side tail hit her belly and she flinched away. Stell noticed this and he immediately left the battlefield to save her.

"Damn it!" He shouted while slashing multiple scorpions at once. Lynn faltered into the ground and she was no longer standing up.

"Lynn!" Stell reached Lynn's position and he defeated all of the scorpions that were surrounding her.

"Are you okay? I think you should stop." Stell said.

"I'm okay, I can still fight..."

"No, I'll take you to Lee and have you treated. We will take care of this battle and will end it once and for all." Stell said.

After returning Lynn on the far side of the battlefield, Stell continued to fight alongside with the other Astrochist. Some of them are already exhausted, however, the scorpions kept on spawning.

"This is bad, they keep on spawning, what should we do. I'm already tired and I twisted some of my joints." Lee said.

"Lee... Go distract them for a bit, I have a plan." Stell said.

"What are you going to do?" He asked.

"I noticed something while we're fighting them off. These scorpions are not spawning at all, they are multiplying after we kill them. Noticed how some of them are small now, that is the evidence that they become small after we kill the big scorpion. In order for us to end this battle, we'll have to kill them simultaneously." Stell noticed the factor that has been keeping them worked out.

"But how the hell are we supposed to do that?" Lee asked.

"I need you to be a decoy, you're the only one who can run fast. Everyone is seemingly tired. You just need to do one thing, and this is to gather them all in the center." Stell said.

"Center? Wait?"

"Yeah, we'll leave the magic attacks to our long-ranged mages. Using the deformation spell, we will create a meteor shower to defeat all of them." Stell answered brimming with confidence.

"Alright, let's do it!" The mission to kill all of the scorpions have commenced. Lee ran off the field to gather the attention of the scorpions in which he successfully managed to make them follow him. He was running around the field in a circular path to have them stay on the center field as much as possible.

"Alright guys, Once I give the signal, please use all of your mana to create a deformation meteor shower spell. Make sure that you guys aim it directly on the scorpions on the center. We will end this quickly!" Stell announced everyone from the backside to charge their spells. Since most of them are not that tired, it is not the time to let them experience the final battle to end the test.

"Stell? Any time now?" Lee asked while running.

"Good, you're now keeping them in the center. At the count of three, Lee get out of their position as quickly as you can!"

"Alright!"

"One"

"Two"

"Three!"

"Earth Magic Skill: Deformation: Boulder meteor shower!" Everyone cast their spells. The center field started to shake. Lee managed to get out of the position when it happened. The rocks were breaking apart and large debris flew in the mid-air.

And then after that, it rained.

The large rocks and debris that were accumulated in the sky suddenly dropped down causing multiple breakdowns on the ground and all of the scorpions were hit by it. It was a successful plan. The test were passed and they have managed to kill at least two hundred twelve scorpions.
