The sun was set in a perfect way. The heat that they were feeling earlier suddenly dissipated and the sky turned dark. Clouds were formed in a strange shape all while taking in the scary atmosphere. The fogs are also covering the entire area. It is like the world has been devastated and they are now completely trapped under a spell of darkness. This is how they are going to perform their trial. The more dangerous the place is, the more tampered their soul and mindset. It is not a good idea to venture into these kinds of places however, because of the tremendous amount of time, they'll be able to reach a certain part of their skills that would help them eventually in the upcoming war.
"I don't like how this goes..." Sofia stepped back while clinging into Aella's right arm. She is literally scared about the fact that the place turned into a dark abyss. Meanwhile, the other groups have separated their path accidentally because of the fogs that were covering up the entire area.
"Yeah, an abyss like this is not a joke. I could've wished they provided us a more suitable explanation and instruction. We're out here risking our lives for the sake of becoming strong." Hayato expounded his feelings through words. He is one of the strongest magicians among the rest of the Wind Elemental Users but even though that's the case, he is still not a perfect warrior yet.
"There's no time to think about it, for the time being, please use your synchronized PEWC to get ready for a sudden attack." Krone released a set of instructions to the whole group. Hayato grabbed his wand and it turned into a golden sword. The reason why it is golden is that he used a fragment of gold that he received from his father. Their family is not an ordinary citizen of the Raiaterra, they are one of those rich royalties that have access to gems and other rare artifacts.
Krone's wand became a hammer of steel in which it is made out of pure iron. It is partly different from normal iron because of its shiny attributes. Krone's father is a construction worker and was used to get paid with iron bars for his generous work. Krone is also part of that work and that's why his figure is patently distinct and bulky among the rest. His muscles could be used on various things that they might encounter soon enough.
After the two had brought up their synchronized weapons, Sofia also grabbed her wand and it turns into a bow with an adequate set of arrows. As it turns out, she pretty has a unique set of weapons that could be used in a long-range fight. Sofia has yellowish blonde hair and a cute face. Ever since that she joined the training, she wouldn't really get that score that is pretty moderate and prominent. That's why she is often relying on Aella for support. And because of that, Sofia had improved over the course of 2 months and she's been stuck with Aella for a long time now. She is probably returning the favor for helping her.
"Huh? Aella, you're not going to activate your PECW yet?" Hayato asked Aella. She suddenly twitched as she heard the question.
"Oh! Umm, I think I'm good for now to be the support. I'll just watch everyone and attack with spells. I'm not really good at fighting in such a close distance." She smiled as she responded.
"Alright then, you and Sofia should go on the backside. I and Krone will have to circulate the area a bit more to know the pathway. We cannot exit this abyss unless if we kill all of these creatures." Hayato gave them instructions to follow. They nodded in response.
"Well, yeah. But we still don't know how they look like, right?" Krone asked while holding a stable position. Upon hearing his question, a soft growl of some kind was distinguished along the way.
"Hey... What is that?" Sofia tensed up as she saw a black figure in the distance. Everyone noticed this as well and they formed a circle. The black figure was constantly dispersing around the fog. Every second passed and their image was being dragged out as they approach the four.
"That should be it..." Hayato let out a soft answer. Sofia and Aella looked at him.
"They are the enemies that we need to kill." He followed up.
The image is now clear, the figures that have been lurking in the shadows finally revealed themselves. The necromancers. This type of creature only appears on abandoned sanctuaries and pretty much all around the chapel. They are once a human being that was tortured into death while performing dark arts. The Moon elemental users once used them in the war seven hundred years ago but because of the bad influence and potential rate of harm, they were banished from the land, and those who perform a ritual to summon the necromancers are sentences into a major identity punishment.
That factor that makes the necromancers easy to beat was their soul's accumulated health. Necromancers are born using dark magic arts and the index that were ripped upon the ritual. They are not really a physical type of monster, but rather, they are a spirit that can cause damage using dark magic. Upon seeing them in close distance, their look is preferably scarier than the scorpions that Stell encountered. They have a skeletal face shape outlook, a dark cloak that is covering their head and body and they have staves that can be used to attack.
The illusion that was brought inside the area was all the same. Necromancers have started to appear on another side of the places as well including the three unique standpoints. Everyone who's been dragged out has been forced to create and form a new team to prepare for the battle while the rest is alone and has been finding someone to help them.
The key to beating necromancers revolves around their chest. Necromancers have an amulet that preserves their soul for a long period of time and they are imbued in their chest. To kill them, they need to aim for the chest however, even if they know the weakness of the monster, they still need to keep in mind that they are still an illusion, meaning that it is not going to be easy to hit them because they are a spirit. They are not in a physical form and the only way they can hit is when the necromancer opens itself in the realm of the human.
This could be activated when they became invisible. Once they start to appear again, there are approximately three seconds of time and reaction in order to hit them.
"There's so many of them, what should we do?" Aella asked after being bewildered by the sheer amount of necromancers.
"Krone, let's hit them head-on. Sofia and Aella, I need you to provide some aerial support." Hayato finally showed his leadership abilities.
"Alright, leave it to me!" Krone exclaimed.
The time to fight the necromancers has finally commenter. Krone rushed into the front line to swing his steel hammer. By the time he was about to hit it, the steel hammer passed through the necromancers' body and it didn't do anything. After realizing that he wasn't able to deal with any damage, he immediately fled away to evade the purple blast that was shot through the area.
"That was close, they are not bulging at all. My hammer only passed through them like I'm hitting an air." Krone nagged his experience to the rest of them.
"I see, so any close combat weapon won't work on them. This is bad news." Hayato clenched his fist and ticked off.
"Watch out!" Sofia's instant reaction saved all of them from an incoming number of purple waves. The ground broke into pieces and bolts were erupting from the radius. This is an example of dark art that uses the ability to accumulate mana and release them all together for a powerful blast. It is really dangerous because the heat of these blasts is impulsive and might cut someone in half.
"Sofia, try hitting it with your arrow." Krone said. Sofia used grabbed her bow and arrow and started placing it on the hilt. She used her wind magical abilities to boost the aim and precision and power. As soon as she pointed out the center, she released the arrow and it passed through the necromancer's body. It failed to kill something.
"It's not working..." She gazed down.
"Damn it, what should we do?" Krone was out of options.
"Hold on, let me try attacking with my spell." Aella suggested to hit it with her magic spell.
"Alright, be careful." Sofia responded.
After evading a lot of waved attacks, they were forced to retreat to their original position. Krone tried swinging his hammer multiple times but to no avail, he wouldn't actually deal any damage aside from waving them off. Aella started doing a stance to perform a spell while Hayato is monitoring the area.
"Wind Magic Skill: Chaos wind!" Aella started spewing a lot of chaos magic waves but it didn't work as well.
"It doesn't work as well." She tried to explain.
"Hm..." Hayato stopped his position for a while and tried to think for a while. He monitored the movements of the Necromancers and noticed something as it goes beyond the walls.
"That is it!" He shouted. Everyone was startled.
"What do you mean? Did you figured it out how to beat it?" Krone asked.
"I'm not sure if this is going to work but I want all of you to take a look on how they move around." Hayato was unsure whether his deduction is correct so he decided to let everyone see what he meant.
"What about it?" They all asked.
"The thing is, every time they move, the illusion was vulnerable. Necromancers are commonly known as undead spirits. The reason why they are immune to close combats and even ranged attacks is that they are not imbued in a physical form. They are transcending from their realm to the human realm in a couple of seconds. And when they do that..." While explaining to them the attack pattern and plan, Hayato suddenly rushed in to kill one necromancer that transcends the human realm. He swung his golden sword left and right and managed to kill one.
"Woah, that's awesome." And everyone was surprised when they saw Hayato killed one.
"Now then, every time you see something pop out, attack them with all your might and kill them." Hayato declared.
After a couple of minutes, they finally reached the peak of where they managed to kill every necromancer that transcends the realm. All of them used their mana to kill everything however, on the verge of winning, Aella suffered a wave attack from one of the Necromancers.
"Aella!" Sofia noticed this as she shriek. Using her bow and arrow, she killed the necromancer who hit her and managed to save Aella. Her back is burned and she can't stand.
"Aella! Are you okay?" Sofia rushed to aid her.
"Damn it! There's so many of them!" Krone continuously swung his hammer.
"Krone, I want you to take care of them for a while..." Hayato suddenly changed his tactic.
"What? What are you going to do?" Krone asked while holding them off.
"I'm going to release a special attack." He responded.
"That's absurd! You don't know when or how many of them are going to pop out. What is your plan?" He disputed.
"Don't worry, I know that some of them are not going to pop out when I release it. However, this spell will make them vulnerable." Hayato smirked as he swings his golden sword.
"I see... Alright, leave this to me!"
"Thanks! I'll get back to you later!" Hayato fled the scene and started accumulating some mana.
"Time to end this..."
