"Earth Magic Skill: Deformation!" Alongside the other Earth Elemental User Astrochist, Stell has managed to recreate a transformation of an object without having to use his wand. The rock has formed into a large nail and shot it through the doll's body. Everyone applauded him for being able to hit it precisely. However, Grandmaster Brook was not happy with it.
"Hey, you're focusing your mana too much on your firepower. That's not how you manipulate it. Being able to deform an earth object is decent but you're too slow and reckless." Brook exclaimed. Stell got shocked over his words.
"Let me show you how it is done, in a non-reckless way." Brook stood up from the wooden bench and started approaching the field. Everyone walked away to proceed in their position.
"Aw come on..." Stell nagged as he returned back as well.
"Alright, listen here, brat. When you're deforming a certain elemental object, you start off with the center core of that object and piece them all together based on what you've created in your mind. What you did earlier was an instant transformation without any details at all. If you're going to create a barrier with that ability, It won't stand a chance against your enemy since it will be easily destroyed. What you need to remember is the process of how you create a certain object and amplify your mindset with the shape of it. Just like this..." Brook explained everything not just on Stell but on everybody else who was watching him.
He made a stance in the middle of the area and started gathering mana. Everyone can feel that subtle rumbling from the ground. Brook suddenly raised his hands to pull out a large rock from the ground. It left a lot of debris and a medium-sized crater. He then began to control it in mid-air without any problem.
"Earth Magic Skill: Deformation!" After the chants the spell for the transformation, the rock suddenly became a wide spear with some details on its handle and sharp end. Everyone dropped their jaw as they noticed it.
Brook threw the large spear directly on the doll but instead of hitting one doll, he managed to destroy all of it in one single blow. Stell was in awe after he saw it.
"See? That's the power you can compose if you're doing the right process. Now get back to work and practice it!" Brook exclaimed.
"Yes, Sir!" Stell and the rest of the Astrochist responded with confidence.
Meanwhile, on the 2nd yard not that far away from Stell, Adara can be seen playing with her fire. She is constantly making a wave of flames using her manipulation ability in which Lars didn't find it good enough nor satisfying based on his scorned expression.
"Hey you, over there! What the hell are you doing?!" Lars exclaimed. He called out Adara while everyone is practicing their own skills.
Adara noticed that she's been called in which after she turned her body back, her nerves popped out.
"Ugh, this guy again." She whispered.
"You're not doing the correct process I've shown you! How are you supposed to pass the evaluation if you will just keep on waving your hands randomly!?" He shouted once again. Adara gritted her teeth as she stopped her movement.
"Oh yeah?! Then show us the process again, you shorty!" She got mad for getting called out and started backfiring words at Lars.
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING SHORTY!? HUH!?" He rushed over to approach Adara. Lars had been called 'short' for a long time now because of his height. But he cannot do anything about it.
"Hey brat, you think I'll let you pass..." He menacingly said.
Adara didn't give any reaction, she just glared at him like usual. Luong noticed the fight between the two in which he suddenly stopped them.
"Hey, Lars. Are you a kid? Why are you picking a fight with the Astrochist?" He asked.
"Oh, Luong you're here. I apologize, this kid is just too toxic." He nonchalantly responded.
"Nevermind that, you're also goofing off that's why everyone doesn't know the right process." Luong seriously said.
"Geh!"
"Don't 'Geh!' me. Come on, show them the right process." Luong ordered him.
"Alright everyone, I'm gonna show you the 'real' process on how to obtain a large scale magic spell. In history, we were titled as 'The mightiest elemental mages' Do you know why? It's because we are always good at destroying enemies in one shot and we have amazing firepower. The fire element is known for its high destructive power, that's why most enemies are afraid of us. And now it is time for all of you to learn how to intimidate them. But of course, you're not going to use these methods on your allies or if you're going to bully someone. Remember this: The Salamander won't get along with you if you're not getting along with the others as well." Lars explained to everybody the concept of a mage with a Fire elemental power.
He stepped away from Adara and started forming a stance. Everyone returned back to their position after they noticed that Lars is performing it once again.
"Now listen, the only key in order for you to do this skill is to put all of your accumulated mana in one certain edge. You gathered all of it first using your body and instinct, and then after you felt the energy oozing out, using your desired goal, you need to aim properly on your target and release all of the mana you have been collecting. In the other elements, they don't really gather their mana in one single attempt. For example, the Wind elemental magic, their mana accumulation is different from all of us. They are good at covering their own spells with mana, which means that their power is scattered around it. While in our case, our mana is centered to one point only." After he gave a brief introduction, Lars raised his right hand.
He aimed right into the center doll. After a few seconds, the area started to get its temperature hot. It turns out that Lars is gathering all of the mana on his right palm.
"FIREBOLT!" He shouted really loud. After he chants the spell, a massive ball-shaped fire appeared with a taste of little electricity. Lars shot the firebolt spell directly into the centered position doll. Everyone felt the shockwave and the heat emitting from the magic Lars have cast. Adara had her jaw dropped as well when she saw it.
Lars has managed to destroy the doll but aside from that, he also destroyed the ground and made a fire throughout the entire area.
"You've overdone it a little, Lars." Luong said.
"Haha, sorry, that just proves that I'm still lively and strong," Lars said.
"Now, I want all of you to imitate what I just did. Just remember the steps I've shown you. First, clear your mind, second, focus on your target, third, gather as much mana as you can, and strike your target. It all depends on whether you're able to control your mana and gather them precisely. If you cannot collect a large amount of mana then you have to train your own individual skill using your Wand and grimoire. It will help you accumulate energy in which you will be able to use it." He followed up.
On the 3rd yard where Aella can be seen practicing her own spell. In her own case, everyone from the 3rd yard is able to do their own magic spell with each other. This is because it was supervised by Syphyl.
Syphyl is known for her ability to lead the elemental mages. In her position, she's assigned in the frontline. Due to her incredible coordination with the other soldiers and mages, she's able to communicate precisely and order them as well without any problem. She also has a lot of knowledge about Wind Elemental Magic. Her father is a former Grandmaster of the same Capital. He trained her when she was little as well.
"Alright everyone, we will do each spell accordingly. Everyone should master every basic spell first before we go through the next step and process. Since most of you are able to cast basic spells at this point, we can proceed easily. But remember, we need to master all of our skills first and memorize each step, or else it will be problematic to you." She ordered everyone to continue their practice.
Among all of the yards, she's the only one who made everyone practice their spells all together. For her, individual evaluation doesn't matter. What she needs to see is how they are able to do a certain task without any pressure. Every Astrochist on her own section are lined up horizontally and everyone has at least 3-5 meters of spaces in order to cast their spells without harming everyone.
"Okay, let's do this again, using your wand, let us cast the Chaos Wind. Chaos wind is the most basic spells among the Wind Elemental skill tree. It sounds 'basic' to you but this spell is actually dangerous if you put too much mana into it. The reason why is because it is made to cut someone in half. Chaos wind are magic with sharp energies that can blast someone or cut someone. So be careful about using it. I might get problematic if you're going to use to someone. Then again, let's perform it nice and easy with simple mana accumulation." She said while wearing a smile. Everyone seems to like her as a Grandmaster and as a teacher because of her lively personality and coordination in teaching.
"All together, Wind Magic Skill: Chaos Wind!" Everyone did the exact same process and chant. Aella seems to be able to follow it without any hindrances.
After that, they've blasted the spell on the dolls located far away from the field. It's far away from them to avoid any accident in case someone hit another Astrochist.
"Good job! Seems like you guys have memorized although I can still see that most of you are lacking energy. Make sure that you guys are eating breakfast. If your stomach is empty then you won't be able to concentrate precisely. Food is also a great source of Mana. Unlike Mana, it can be found anywhere but if there's no Mana in that particular space then you won't be able to use your magic. However, food is a good conductor of it as well. It converts what you eat into Mana which will make your body store an adequate amount of it in case of emergency. But still, even if you're eating a lot, you still need to keep your body fit and healthy. Otherwise, it will give you the opposite result of it." Syphyl said with a happy tone.
On the other hand
"No no no no, that's not how you do it." Brook were still having a hard time teaching the other Astrochist.
Stell was able to get it right, at some point. He managed to create a strong fortification after watching Brook demonstrate the correct process of obtaining a larger amount of mana. Every element has their own respective skill tree and how are you able to perform it. It is not the same as the other Element. Its own power and effectiveness will not just depend on the User's will, the process of how you serve it and how you perform will be key factors as well.
Inside the grimoire, there's also some justification on how each spell works. From basic up to the advanced category. But all of those are not free to cast. Some spells have requirements based on the User's ability. Sometimes, they also need to train their body and mindset and be healthy, while some of them need to upgrade their decision making and memorization. Every strategy in order to defeat the other elements are needed in their term. This is the reason why they need to learn the basic functions of each category of elements first before they learn the other lesson.
"Firebolt!"
"Firebolt!"
"Firebolt!" Adara did a lot of attempts to imitate the spell Lars did a while ago but it still lacking a lot of firepower and will.
"What? Still nothing?" Lars smirked as he stared Adara.
"FIREBOLT!" But it actually worked as a trigger to amplify Adara's ability. She cast a Firebolt spell near Lars that made him flinched. Adara destroyed the remaining wooden dolls and left a massive damage effect on the ground much like what Lars did. She overdid her power because of her emotional factor.
For the Fire elemental power, emotion is also necessary. But it can be also applied to other elements as well. Fire users are known for their ferocious behavior, that's why most of their spells are destructive. They are more likely to use high quantity power and less defensive power. Well that's the purpose of frontliners. Earth elemental users are assigned for the defensive side. It could be the reason of why Earth and Fire get along well with each other. The polar opposite of each side. The fire is the attacker and the earth is the defender.
Meanwhile, on Aella's yard. They all have managed to do all spells until page 3. Everyone seems to be affected by the large amount of execution of Mana.
"Good job, alright everyone, let's take a break and then we will proceed once again." Syphyl said.
"This is so hard..." Aella said.
"I know right, things have gotten serious after our 1st day." Someone responded.
"Yeah, but still though, I'm not gonna give up. It's time for all of us to rise and save our own hometown from bad guys." She answered lively.
"Yeah!" Everyone agreed. Syphyl smiled as she heard them talking about their motives and purposes.
After quite a while, from the hallway inside the central building. Faye was walking. She reached the 2nd floor of the building and passed through the archives. She opened the door of the room on the end of the hall, and then she saw Denz sitting beside Nile.
"You can go now, I'll take care of him." Faye said.
Denz gave Nile a worried look. He stood up from the stool and left the room. He closed the door and left Faye and Nile inside.
Nile was badly hurt because of overdrive fatigue. This kind of case is prominent when someone used their mana to the max without a proper training of their own body. When someone used advanced magic spell, the mana inside their body will get depleted quickly. In order for the body to function and for the spell to work, a person needs to have an adequate amount of Mana. In Nile's case, he ran out of mana because he was unable to convert all of them in one attempt. He needs to train his body in order for the Mana to reduce its fluctuation.
An advanced spell requires more mana, if someone's mana has been drained, it will not rely on its own body anymore. The spell will collect mana from outside and it will pass through someone's body. And if that happens, if they cannot take that much mana, it will pop out of nowhere and you'll get depleted.
