Faye opened the door to get into the room. She quietly moved it and then she saw Denz, monitoring Nile's condition. He had a concerned face and Faye noticed this. Denz noticed that the door had opened, he reverted back to normal and stared at Faye.
"How is she?" Faye asked.
"He's breathing, but still unconscious." He answered with a little waver on his voice.
"I see, thank you so much for monitoring and for helping me bring him here, Denz. I've talked about his condition on his other teachers and grandmasters. You may now go." Faye said as she entered the room.
"What about you?" Denz asked.
"I'll be the one to monitor him from now on. It is my responsibility to take care of him as his teacher. And it is my fault anyway, I didn't warn you guys about the consequences and dangers you could've encountered during the evaluation." Faye answered.
Denz didn't say anything. He is still thinking about what happened earlier and how they should have made a choice. But he cannot do anything about it, if that's their decision, then it's for the best. Nile would have gotten killed if they told everyone about his existence and the way he is wearing one of the Elemental Rings.
"Anyway, you should go back to your class now. For now, I want you to watch all of the Astrochist in your section. Monitor them and if there's anyone out there who will break the rule, make sure that you stand behind them or list their names and I will deal with them later. Again, I can't take you enough for helping me fix my mistakes." Faye asked with a smile.
"No, that's okay, Ma'am. I understand. I'll go back there now and do what you asked. I'll be sure to lead them for a while without you." Denz said. He stood up from the stool and left the room. He closed the door quietly and soon enough, Faye and Nile were left all alone in the room.
Faye grabbed the stool that Denz has been using for a long time and she placed it near the window. She noticed that the window is closed and the room is getting its own temperature high. She opened it and swayed the curtain, she also tied it so that the curtain won't fall off.
As soon as she opened the window, the hot air inside the room suddenly dissipated and the cold breeze outside the field entered the room giving them an adequate amount of cold wind to refresher themselves. Faye's hair waved when it entered and she took a deep inhalation and exhaled.
She sat down while looking outside, but while she is preoccupied, Nile's left hand suddenly twitched. He made a crease on his face and he gritted his teeth. He carefully opened his eyes but his vision is blurry. It will take a while to return back to its normal state.
Faye noticed the movement that Nile has been doing, she quickly stood up and checked on him.
"Nile are you okay? Are you hurt somewhere? How are you feeling?" She rammed him with a bunch of questions. Nile didn't respond quickly, he dragged his body upward to lean on the wall as he stood up. Since he has been unconscious for a while, he will be feeling a bit distressed and some headaches. After a few moments, his vision returned back to normal and he stared at Faye.
"Where am I?" He asked. Faye gave a sigh.
"You're in the infirmary." Faye answered.
"What? Why? What happened to me?" Nile asked.
"Well, after you performed an advanced magic spell earlier, you collapsed because of Overdrive fatigue."
"Overdrive what?"
"Overdrive Fatigue. To put it simply, you ran out of mana when you cast the spell a while ago. This kind of case happens when a user reached their limit when manipulating their own Mana while converting it. Your body didn't have the requirements to produce mana to convey the spell you've been doing. It can't handle that much power since you're still inexperienced. I don't know what happened back there or what was your desire in obtaining such large scale power but please, don't do that again, Nile." Faye explained while scolding Nile.
Nile was speechless for the entire time, he shifted his gaze from her to the window. The cold air breeze is still scattered around the room making their hair wave. After a few seconds, Nile spoke.
"I see... So I've caused another trouble again, huh? I'm really sorry about that, Ma'am. It's because I'm weak, I've been overthinking and it ended up like this." He said.
"No no no, that's now what I meant, Nile. It's not your fault. I should be the one who's getting scolded right now. I didn't warn not just you but everyone in the class about the safeness and provided measure when casting spells. I just literally made you guys take the test without considering the result or what accident might happen if you guys do it. I'm really sorry that you have to hurt yourself because of me." Faye bowed as she apologized to Nile formally.
"No, that's okay, Ma'am. I understand. But still, though, I keep overthinking about my desire. That might've been the reason why I gathered that much of Mana in the first place and cast a spell I shouldn't have cast."
"Well, what did you wished for? Why did you have to obtain that much power?" Faye asked him. Nile twitched when he heard it.
"I don't know... To be honest with you, I'm not even sure about what my purpose is here. It's just that I'm tired of doing the same thing over and over again. I want to meet my other family, I want to see them, but the cruelty of the world is what hinders me from doing so. I'm not sure if that is the correct mindset I should have though." Nile smiled as he said the reason why he is in the Mana Zone program.
"Well, if you're confused, then you need to keep going with it. You're here because of one particular reason. Even if you don't know the outcome, you should still stick to it because that is what your heart told you." Faye smiled as she advised Nile.
"Hey... I've been meaning to ask you about something... Do you mind?" Suddenly, Faye twitched. She grabbed her ponytailed hair and placed it on her left shoulder while whirling it. After she does it, she sat right beside Nile on the bed. She smiled.
"Sure... I don't mind, what is it?" She accepted.
"Well, I'm not sure how many years was it, but, If I remember correctly, you were with my Uncle Martin right?" Nile asked. Faye gasp as she heard the question.
"H-How did you know?" Faye asked with a light curiousness.
"How did I know? Well, I'm not exactly sure. But you and Uncle Martin were talking while wearing black clothes. The look on both of your faces is sad and stressed. I don't know what you guys are talking about but, more importantly. I wanted to ask about what is your relationship with my Uncle?" He continued.
"I see... Well, to be fair with you, I actually want to make this information discreet. But since you've known all along already, I'll tell you the truth." Faye said.
"But before that, here, take this..." Faye grabbed a glass and poured water in it. She gave it to Nile.
"Thanks..." Nile chugged it down quickly and exhaled. He placed the glass on the table and now the confession will start.
"Me and Martin, are actually lovers. We've been going out with each other for a few years now. But everything changes when he got admitted to the Capital's military job. Our time to each other vanished in an instant. To be honest, I was still a trainee back then, I don't have the Grandmaster title yet. When Martin left me, I continued my training with the other Grandmaster title holders until they passed it to me eventually." She started talking.
"Wow... I'm actually speechless about that. So what happened after that?" Nile continued to get curious.
"Well, it's been 5 years, I still have no news about Martin, or should I call your uncle. Didn't he told you things about me? I'm still wondering of why you're asking me these kinds of things." Faye returned back the question to Nile.
"No, not really. Uncle Martin hasn't told me anything about you yet not his past. He is always preoccupied about his job on the front line. Well not that I'm curious but I prefer to not ask him question that is not really relatable to what I'm actually after." Nile said.
"My, you don't have to go that far. That damn geezer..." She glared while smirking.
"So... Is that all you have to ask?" Faye stared at Nile once again.
"No... I actually... Still have more question."
"Hmm, sure, just keep on asking." She responded.
"It's about my mother"
A sudden stop.
Faye suddenly began to feel shivered. She twitched as she heard him. She returned back to her normal serious look on her face and then gazed through the floor.
"That's actually the reason of why I am here. The main purpose of me being here is so I can find a clue on where to find. But since you're connected with my Uncle, do you have any idea on where my mother went? Whenever I ask Uncle about it, he always told me that she went far away from our hometown to go in to the front line and kill some bad guys or some sort. But that's what he's been telling me all the time, he didn't really told me some things bout my mother's past, where she went, or what happened to her. And it's been a lot of years. That's why I want to know where she went so I can meet her." Nile kept on explaining about why she asked these questions.
Faye didn't respond. She went silent while blankly staring on the floor.
"Hey, do you hear me–"
"He still haven't told you?"
Nile stopped. Faye smiled as she slowly look at Nile.
"Told me what? What do you mean?" nile asked another question.
"Linda... Your mother..." Nile noticed that Faye is having a hard time grasping the situation and answering his question. He waited until Faye finally told the truth about Nile's mother.
"She's dead..."
Nile's eyes grew larger. The time slowly passed by, but in Nile's point of view, he knows that this moment is what he's been waiting for and she finally answered the question he's been asking for a long time.
"What? Are you joking? No, that's not possible." Nile placed his right hand on his head. He felt dizzy when he heard the answer from Faye.
"No... She died when you were still a baby." Faye didn't act immaturely. She did her best to tell him the truth.
"No! That's a lie right? You're just messing with me? Come on please be serious." Nile kept on begging her to tell the truth.
"No... She's really dead, Nile. I know that it is hard for you to know this truth. I'm actually surprised that your uncle hasn't told you anything about her. The reason why he can't say anything is because she's already dead. All of those story about her being on the front line and punishing bad guys are not true. She's already dead." Faye said with a worrying look. Nile went speechless as he heard the answer. He bowed his head without saying anything.
"I'm sorry..." Faye apologized.
Things went fazed for a moment. The room is silent and the clock ticking is gradually getting louder as time pass by.
"Who killed her...?" Out of the blue, Nile began to ask something in a soft yet wavering voice. Faye noticed this.
"It's Yama. He's the one who killed her. She gave you that ring and sealed your power inside. In order for you to survive, she sacrificed herself without the ring. If she hadn't done that, Yama would have killed you as well and stole the 2nd ring." Faye answered.
Everything went silent once again, Nile didn't say any word after she answered his question. He eventually tilted his head, with his eyes opened widely, he began to sob. Faye barely hold her tears as well. When she saw Nile that he's about to cry, she quickly hugged him.
"It's okay... Shh... I know the pain you've been through. After 14 years of trying hard, the outcome of what you've chose as a path won't be enough to stop you. I'm sorry that you have to hear this after a lot of work." Faye tried to calm Nile down but he can't stop crying.
"I can't believe it... Why did Uncle have to lie to me! Why does she have to die for my sake! This is so unfair!" He exclaimed.
Faye kept on embracing him while she stroke his back. She smiled but she also left a tear.
Outside the room, Luong can be seen standing right behind the door with his arm crossed. He's been listening to their conversation for quite a while. After he heard the sobbing kid, he decided to left the hall and walked downstairs.
"Soon..." Nile suddenly spoke. He sniffed so hard and tried to hold back his tears.
"Soon enough, I'll kill him." Faye gasped.
"I'll definitely kill him!" He exclaimed.
