Synopsis
Alissa Wood’s life started out completely normal. But when she gets kidnapped and is forced to drink some sort of poison, she gets saved by a strange group of people who look just like her. Slowly, the wall of lies Alissa’s mother carefully built around her start to break down to reveal the truth about Darkbloods and Lightbloods, showing Alissa a horrible truth about herself that puts her in terrible danger. Will she be alright? With her new friends, they see something that threatens the lives of all Lightbloods. Going against the rule for underage Lightbloods to stay safe at home, they leave and try to save everyone on their own. This upsets the Lightbloods so not only the impending danger is out to get them, but their own families. Will they be alright? As the situation gets worse and worse, Alissa finds herself in the middle of it all. She and her friends are clearly outmatched on their own and they can’t gather an army. When her friends get taken, Alissa goes to save them and there she is forced to make a choice. A choice that will end in destruction no matter what. A choice that will force her to do something to save her loved ones or bring them to a suffering end. Will the Lightblood race be alright?

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

I cleared my plate and headed upstairs to the tiny bedroom I shared with my cousin Alexandria. I lived in my Aunt Evelyn's house with my three cousins, Jason, Alexandria, and Charlotte. My father died before I was born and my mother died when I was 9, so her sister, my Aunt Evelyn, who I didn't even know existed at the time, took me in because she was my last living relative.

At first it was odd living with them. My cousins were scared of me because of my unusually large and bright green eyes. Neither of my parents had them, (at least my mother didn't and she told me my father didn't) and sometimes I even scare myself with these eyes that look like they can light up darkness. But as the years passed, everyone seemed to get used to me and treat me normally. I've lived with my cousins for 6 years now in Los Angeles, and my life is completely normal.

"Alissa! Come here! It's an emergency!" A familiar voice yelled. I rushed to Charlotte's bedroom and saw her staring at me holding up two tops: a white crop-top that was supposed to show much more skin than a normal 14 year old should show and a dark red tube top. Charlotte was only 14, the youngest of us, and she acts like the typical modern teenager, acting 17 and wearing clothes that give her dirty looks from middle-aged women. I sighed. Not this again. But there's no reasoning with her, so I went with it.

"The red one." At least the red one is a little less showy. Charlotte's face lit up.

"You're so right. The red one makes me look so much hotter. Go away now I have to change," she said, gesturing for me to get out. I left and closed the door behind me.

Who knows where she's going with THAT on.

I reached my bedroom to find Alexandria on her bed, reading a book. I grabbed my phone from my bed.

"I'm going out," I announced.

"Bye," Alex said, not raising her blonde head from her book. I glanced at myself in the mirror. My straight brown hair fell down to just above my waist and my light skin had a golden tan from the sun. My eyes looked like big glowing emeralds that I never really thought of as pretty. I glanced at my phone and looked at the time. 8:12 pm. I went downstairs and out the door.
