Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

I pulled out my phone and texted my best friend, Elena. The text read: "Almost there." She immediately texted back, like she always did, and her text said: "k. I have a surprise for you when you get here." I smiled at that. Elena was the most thoughtful friend I had, and I saw her almost every day. I took a turn into an alley, which I hated, but this was the shortcut to Elena's house and I wanted to get there quickly to see the surprise. I looked back down at my phone. I started typing back when a big, strong hand reached out and grabbed the back of my jacket. Before I could even process what was happening, I felt something big and hard collide with my head, plunging me into darkness.

*******

I opened my eyes slowly, my head throbbing. I groaned and try to sit up, but I failed because of the immense pain it brought to move. I blinked once, taking in my surroundings. I was in a big, dark room with only a wardrobe, a mirror, a sofa, and this bed. "Where am I?" I asked groggily. To my surprise, a voice answered me. I thought I was alone.

"Get up. Drink this now." The voice said rather harshly. I tried once again to sit up, and failed a second time. The voice made an impatient noice and seized my shirt and yanked me up, causing me to whimper in pain. I looked down at myself. My clothes had been changed to a plain white T-shirt and light gray sweatpants. I smelled something horrible, and looked to my side to see a bony hand holding out a mug with a brownish liquid in it.

"What-what is that?" I asked, looking up at the person for the first time. The figure was tall and slim, with a hood over their face, covering it up. I could tell it was a woman beneath the hood from her voice.

"Drink!" The woman said again, thrusting the mug under my nose. I took a sniff and gagged in disgust. The contents inside smelled of death.

"All right," I said, barely a whisper. I took the mug, my hands shaking uncontrollably. The brown drink sloshed around in the mug from the shaking. I pressed the mug to my lips and drank. I immediately started choking the second I swallowed, feeling as if the drink had done something to me, but I cannot say what. In the pain, I accidentally dropped the mug, spilling its contents all over the floor. Suddenly, I felt a sharp slap on my cheek. I gasped in pain and surprise. I looked up at the woman.

"YOU STUPID GIRL!" She shrieked at me. I put a hand to my cheek as the hooded woman stormed out of my room and slammed the door shut. I felt the tears dripping slowly down my cheeks. I had never felt so helpless and afraid. I looked out the window. It was still dark. Just a few hours ago, I was excited to go to my best friend's house. Now I had been kidnapped and I have no idea where I am. I hug my knees to my chest, letting the tears drop slowly and hearing the soft pat as they landed on the bed. I shut my eyes and cried, all alone, with no hope.
