Larry was watching from his glass orb as the groups defeated undead orc after undead orc. he had to admit that these people were extremely good at fighting. he was now scratching his bald head while wondering whether he should mess with these people.
not that he didn't have a way to deal with them.
he was extremely lazy whenever it came to fighting. he preferred doing experiments to learn more about the power of necromancy. he had tried commanding the body of several dead beings. angels, demons, wyverns, manticores and some others who ended up extinct. he dipped his fingers into the lake and watched the ripples.
he had cast his [undead legion] skill some time ago and was waiting for the adventurers to get close to his hideout.
he, however, was now bored waiting for them and decided to send one of his subordinates to kill them all. he raised his fingers out of the water as he looked at the ripples stretch across the lake.

Larry had telepathically informed Monica of the location of the adventurers. he then put his focus back on the glass orb to see how they would handle his knight. he put one of his wet fingers in an earhole and removed it with no sign of dirt.
even if he had no emotions, Larry was proud of himself.

Margaret was trying to think of a quick answer to Marv's question. Marv was still staring at the cloudy sky as he waited for an answer while giving Brianna head pats. Margaret finally decided on an answer as she looked at Marv.
"We are adventurers...just like you...we had found a quest and thought that we could use you-"
"stop."
Marv looked directly at Margaret as his different coloured eyes searched her over. he wasn't going to believe that she was just an adventurer with no larger identity to her name. he had met several people back in his own world who had tried hiding their large names so as to get what they wanted.
there was even someone who was a CEO of a startup and had tried to act like an average citizen and got a job at the cafe Marv often frequented. why? so that he could get a closer relationship with Marv to get the blueprints of Marv's FIVR headset technology.
it actually worked and Marv was more than willing to give the guy the blueprints.
only because Marv had created a version that worked three times more efficiently, reduces the body development to a ratio of 2:5 when inside, was more eco-friendly and could be wirelessly connected to the FIVR pod he also created. when the guy heard of Marv's new release he was enraged as he kept demanding that he had been tricked.
Marv simply told him that...he had worked at the cafe Marv frequented to get certain blueprints for one of Marv's inventions...he got them and Marv let him have the rights for distribution and manufacturing...and then Marv made a new release...so how did Marv trick him?
turned out the guy was the nephew of a former United Nations secretary-general
anyways this story isn't relevant.
Margaret didn't know how she should talk to Marv. Marv was seeing her as somebody who wanted something from him, but if she didn't specify then she would continue being ignored.
he stopped giving Brianna head pats as he put his arm around Margaret's shoulder. she gave a small yelp while Marv made sure that nobody was watching. he then leaned in close so as to whisper something in Margaret's ear.
"you know...if you want Finn, all you needed to do was ask and I would give him to you for free. heck, I could even pay you to take him."
"NO!!!"
Margaret immediately started blushing as she pushed Marv away to see his smiling face. he was joking around. Margaret mumbled to herself as she rubbed her rosy cheeks. she really didn't want to think of Finn in such a manner.
she decided it was best to clear future misunderstandings and cleared her throat a bit. she then stared Marv dead in the eye as she put on a serious expression.
"The truth is...we-"
"SWOOSH!!"
everybody looked towards the direction of the sound in wonder. Marv stood up and activated his [divine radar] skill to see if he could find a new monster. but his skill picked up nothing.
although it wasn't too clear, a tall figure was standing in the centre of a sandstorm that had appeared from nowhere. it looked like the figure was holding some kind of long object in one hand.
the figure then stepped out of the sandstorm and revealed itself.
a person wearing complete black armour stepped forward. the person held a three-metre spear in their hand and the other was placed at their hip. the helmet they wore had two holes at the sides which let out what looked like small red nubs.
the person in question was letting off a powerful sword aura. that was when a female voice spoke.
"ok! I was ordered to -Atchoo!- kill you guys so -Atchoo!- please make this easy for me."

Monica was having a really tough day. she had been sick all week with a cold that she received from her younger brother when caring for him. she was a half-demon with the power of a knight of the dark country. she had received official orders from her master to kill some pesky adventurers.
Monica eyed the adventurers who were standing a bit far from her. she sneezed a bit more before she shrugged and stepped forward. she made no sound as she kept performing tricks with her spear. she had made a guess at who was the strongest by looking at each person.
she placed Finn as the most dangerous and the first to go. not wanting to dally she raised her spear high and started her spellcasting. she hadn't noticed Marv who had summoned Angelina to his side and was whispering something in her ear.
Monica had just finished her spellcasting as she sensed an enormous pressure rushing at her. Monica smirked as she swung her spear downwards and tapped the ground twice.
the next second the ground shook before a large wall of earth rose from the ground and reinforced itself with seven more inches of earth. the wall suddenly had cracked as it tried to withstand the overbearing pressure. Monica furrowed her brows as she heard soft whistling and the wall seemed to be struggling to hold against the pressure even as she kept reinforcing it.
Monica then stabbed her spear forward while coalescing her dark magic at the tip. the result was a dark beam shooting from the spear tip while pushing Monica back slightly.
the wall was immediately destroyed as the beam travelled quickly and headed directly for the group while raising some cracked earth.
Finn was the first to respond as he clashed the beam with his longswords raised to his chest.
Finn managed to cast his [skycutter] skill to split the dark beam before it hit anybody.
the ground split and rocks flew everywhere as the beam strayed end hit the area around Finn instead.
