Chapter 63 - finally questing

{hmm...}

I'm not too sure but it seems Masha is being extremely quiet.

Masha and I split from the boys to go on a shopping spree. it's more direct to say that I wanted to go on a shopping spree while Masha insisted to tag along. I'm stronger than her yet she keeps insisting to be of use to me.

makes me feel like she's some type of slave...but she's my family.

I tried to head into several different clothing shops and asked what Masha would like. it was always the same response...

"Whatever you think is good Lady Alyssa."

I was really tired with this answer and at our fourth clothing shop, I forced Masha to pick some clothes. she then chose clothes that would allow her to move in combat and looked terrible.

the phoenixes, the witch and the audacity of this b**ch.

I then stopped Masha from choosing clothes herself and bought for her a couple of sweaters, dresses and shirts. there was some other stuff and I forced Masha to try all of them. Masha was slightly dissatisfied at this and let her thoughts be known by telling me how hard it would be for her to assist me if she was stuck wearing frilly skirts and walking around in high heels.

I really want to slap her for some reason.

I was happy with the clothes that I picked out for myself and headed for the adventurers guild with Masha just to see if there were any new quests we could do. I opened the large doors and walked over to the quest board that had very few quests right now. thanks to Marvin I had managed to learn how to use my inventory and placed all the clothes we bought in there. Masha was curious to know about how I learned storage magic and I told her that Marvin taught me.

I was looking around the board while Masha stood by my side. after what was two minutes of searching we heard a new voice behind our backs. I didn't turn but Masha looked to see who it was. I was reading what seemed to be a subjugation quest when I felt Masha tapping my shoulder.

I looked over at her and followed the direction her finger was pointing at to see a group of men and women in golden armour.

"Hello..."

I greeted the leading woman who held a sage's staff in her right hand. her armour was made of what I could see as enchanted Mithril with a large magic crystal in the shape of a diamond was smelted into the chest plate just below her large breasts. her robe was purple and was sweeping the floor.

her black hair completely covered her eyes so I couldn't really see them.

"um...do you mind if I ask what rank you are..."

"I'm a rank E plus..."

I responded to her question about my rank quickly so I could focus back on choosing a quest. that was when she started stuttering.

"u-um...if y-you do-don't mind...we would like to...do a quest w-with your party..."

"eh?"

I was surprised for a bit before I asked her what she meant. she introduced herself as Margaret and went into detail about why she wanted to do a quest with our party.

apparently, it was found that Finn was a member of our party and they wanted his assistance in doing a quest. I didn't know why they would want Finn's assistance though. I was intrigued so I asked her what quest she meant. she was extremely shy and was shrinking back before a man stepped forward and held her by the shoulder. the man whispered a bit in her ear before she calmed down and stood straight.

"I-I...would like your assistance w-with the quest to kill the necromancer in the undead plains..."

she was still stuttering but I had a general idea of what she wanted. I was not that willing to accept her quest so I just asked her what the rewards were on a whim. she instantly froze up and another woman stepped up to tell me.

she handed me the paper listing the basics of the quest and its rewards. I wasn't too impressed with the amount of gold but I liked the last few items. I turned to Masha and handed her the paper asking what she thought.

she read the paper slowly and handed it back to me with a frown. she didn't think the rewards were too interesting and left the handling to me.

honestly...

I just looked back to the woman and handed her the paper saying that we would assist them in their quest. Masha was surprised but I quickly told her it was best we got experience fighting all kinds of enemies so we could better prepare for future situations. that managed to convince her.

the group was immediately delighted at our decision and asked that we meet in front of the town hall within four days at noon. I saw no problem with that and agreed. after that Masha and I headed back to the hotel and went up to Marv and Brianna's room.

we had to notify them of the quest we had chosen.

I decided to enter the room without knocking since it wouldn't matter whether I knocked because of all the loud chatting they were doing. I pushed the room door open and saw Finn and Marv talking about something while sitting on one of the beds. Brianna was just looking at the city from the balcony.

I first greeted them and sat down on the empty chair positioned by the desk before Masha followed me and sat on the empty bed. when she saw Marv she had a slight red spread across her cheeks. Marv, Finn and I noticed it but pretended not to see it...it was strange enough that she was treating me like her master but suddenly having an interest in the person she disregarded as useless...was just strange.

I was not really too enthusiastic about the quest so I just described to Marv what the quest entailed. I also mentioned how they wanted Finn's assistance...I asked if they knew why and Marv just looked at the floor while Finn had a wide grin.

"why, of course, my lady...."

Finn got up from the bed and walked over to me with a placard in his hand.

{must be his adventuring license...wonder what rank he got.}

I wasn't too interested and took the placard from his hands.

I read the placard with my surprise rising as I saw the two large letters next to Finn's stats.

"What is this?"

I wasn't really sure of how to react and immediately thought that Finn must have cheated somehow. Finn looked insulted a bit before he described his test to me. when he was done I nodded my head in acceptance...

{seems I found the reason why they wanted his assistance...yet how did they know his test results so quickly and what party he was joining...pretty sure he refused to mention it during the test.}

something didn't feel right to me
