Chapter 11 - "We Have So Much Of Time Left, I'll Do It Later."

Have you ever said that?

Well at least, I have!

What is procrastination? Why does it happen to us? First of all, I refuse to believe that no one has ever gone through this. Every one of us, have delayed our work till the deadline comes. Whenever we feel like we're going to do better this year or this semester, it all just fails. We procrastinate a work once, then we feel like we're behind anyway so let's just ignore the entire thing and wait till another year comes and we make this "New year resolution" all over again.

How to cure this? Well, it doesn't really have a full-proof cure. But I suggest you don't force yourself. If you do so, you'll get defeated by your mischievous brain again and do it all wrong. Take it easy. It's a universal problem and it's definitely not a rare or 'incurable' disease.

One of the ways can be, that, try to complete all your work when it's really little. Don't let it pile up. When you get the thoughts of procrastinating again, just try to be an overthinker. Start thinking about the consequences of this. You can give reasons like, "Your work will grow more and more.". "If you don't complete it now, the professor would scold you". "If your work is shabby because of this, you won't get good marks/reach your goals."

Try to scare your brain. When it starts drifting from your work, speak out loud-- "FOCUS!". Pointing out things like that can decrease your chances of procrastinating.

When you have 6 months before your major exam, I suggest you start little by little right at the moment. This can help you prepare better for the same.

I know that planning out things doesn't help. God will decide what would happen next. But there is a saying, "An idiot can beat a genius without a plan"

Though, strictly speaking, creating a plan doesn't mean you will create a very difficult and tight schedule. It will make you get bored from it and drop the idea soon. As I stated in my previous chapter, start it slow and steady. Why? Because Slow and steady wins the race!

Before making a schedule, first, write the things that you do in the entire day-- Like brushing your teeth, taking a shower, drinking coffee, etc. Cut out the things which you're not supposed to do. For example, Snoozing your alarm, staring at your phone right after you wake up or right before you sleep at night.

Try to remove the bad habits one by one and add habits that you actually want to include in your daily lifestyle, then make a schedule according to it.

Again, don't push yourself too hard. If you can't complete a task or were 5 minutes late to do it, it's okay. you can continue following it. You don't have to be too accurate. It's okay as it's your first time. Once you are used to it, you can do it effortlessly.
