Chapter 8 - 8 I hate that girl, really I do

Eric and I were of coarse in different classes except for our 'Introduction to Gems' class which we probably didn't need to take. I then went to a private tutor for experiments and development of gem usage. From there I took basic usage of gem equipment and tools, such as swords, wands and staffs.

All gem users were required to take this class bit Eric attended the morning one then took lessons in fighting and weapon usages. While my luck had me attending with Melissa, luckily she only had two friends with her so far in her camp. This time I would have to make the right friends fast or. she could turn them against me once again.

Luck was on my side because three of the students were studying independently with the same master as me. That morning we had met and all three were very polite and social asking me to address them by first names. I didn't know at the time one was the crown prince Jarred and his personal guard Alex. The other was the son of the gem investigation tower a quiet man named Solo.

Jarred had red hair and sparkling blue eyes and a easy laugh which was a product of a born politician. Alex had black hair and dark brown eyes and an ability to fade into the background when he wanted too. Solo had a quick mind and was easy to read, inquisitive and child like in his intelligence.

I invited them to go to dinner after class but all three had prior appointments but promised to eat lunch together tomorrow after, private studies. The class then started and I noticed that Jarred and Alex left quietly and quickly it seemed that no one noticed. Solo sat in the very front and no one approached him so I took a seat next to him. His eyes met mine and seemed to relax a little as if he expected trouble.

So in the teacher was handing out books and assignments and started her lecture. Two large males who were seated behind us started whisper words loud enough to disturb us. Saying sometime about a bastards and his who're of a mother who let even the pigs rut with her.

As I started to turn to hush them I saw Solo face was beat red and his fist were clutched in anger. Then I knew why he had been glad I sat near him. I turn and raised my hand for the teacher and she called my name. " Mam I'm sorry I can not hear you because these two behind me are talking about doing indecent act with pigs could you please move them away from us."

The teachers face instantly turned red and she told them she would take them to the principals office and she would be sending a letter home as well. Saying such words in a classroom or anywhere was unacceptable. She told the class to read the first chapter of the book while she was gone and stepped out with them.

Of coarse, that gave Melissa the opportunity she had been waiting for so she quickly stood up with her friends and said I was a snitch and not to be trusted. That we were from the same town and I was know as the town liar and trouble maker.

Solo stood up in anger and started to stutters but I calmed him with a gentle touch and replayed, " I may be somethings but not what you are? How did you get into this school? How many favors and money did you give to get in I wonder? " Then we both sat down to read as she sputtered and screamed my name out loud.

By the time the teacher had came back I was on chapter three, by speed reading and Melissa and crew had left. Class ended pretty well if you ask me. Solo slowly calmed and his shoulders eased by the end so I felt glad maybe he would be a fellow wounded who I could connect with.

After we were let lose Eric and I had a great dinner in the cafeteria which was mostly empty due to the fact most students attending ether lived there or rated with relatives. I felt very small here due to the fact I was two to six years younger then most other attending students.

Luckily Eric was as large as the seniors in the school and was already being scouted by knight order sects and royal guard officials. So his size scared off many who might have approached me. This was both, a good and a bad thing because it scared off potential allies as well as enemies.

That night I finished my homework and started to make a list of possible experiments I wanted to look into. I sure hoped that my mentor would approve some of them and the other would show interest in them as well. I didn't know when I drifted off but in the morning I had to wash away pen marks from my face.

My pleasant sleep was not interrupted by Melissa's evil plotting or two young men wishing to break her in two. Guess it was a good thing they had no physic powers. One of Melissa's cousins shuttered at how evil she was and wished she had never gone to her side.

In the morning I realized that the two that had caused trouble yesterday were in my morning class but one threatening look from Eric was enough to shut them up. They even got up and hid towards the back of the class. It was so boring for me I decided to ask about transferring into a higher level class.

When I asked they gave me a placement test which qualified me to enter senior level gem history and current development class instead. I was sad to lose my time with Eric but he agreed to met me and my classmates at lunchtime. I was glad I would be able to shed myself of the harrashers.
