Chapter 13 - 13 A fool and a believer.

It took a bit to get it clean enough to be usable and to open the storage area which they were glad was still protected. A messenger bird would be sent out and trained griffins would be flown in to recover the gems and other parts so we would no longer have to take the chance to loss what was gained.

Being half way to our goal it would have be a great loss to the kingdoms and our group to suffer the loss. We had suffered many more losses due to having to be exposed to conditions and not having enough rest for our wounded. All together close to 60 people had die a and 60 had serious wounds that would take at least a week to heal.

The commander gave everyone a week off to heal up, rest up , and just plain get clean and some stable meals in. Everyone had loss weight however the loss of muscle mass was more of a threat. This week could help us to get back morale as well as combats illnesses.

The animals warmed up to me after a few days and warned of a bad storm coming in which was said to disturb the water in the nearby lake. This they said change the waters to turn poisonous due to the beasts that lived there so they would come on land to protect their young.

The animals told them to hide at least a week or two and to not go to or drank from the lake for at least that long or they would die. There was a stream to the west which would be good to drank from. Goldy healed many of the animals in the area which had suffered due to the beast in the lake.

After telling Eric what she had heard, Goldy decided that it would be necessary to tell the Crown Prince but first they would have to get pass his personal guards. The went through proper channels first, asking their party leader to request a personal audience. He just laughed and told them even his request had been ignored from the beginning how would theirs get through.

Then the went to his personal guard and made the request but even when they said it was of vital importance, he refused unless they told him first. When Eric asked why they could not speak with the Commander. They were told that the king warned that they in particular had a reason to harm the prince and to not let any accidents occur.

Goldy was stunned did they respect her so little even after being basically force to sign that agreement. The King would doubt her personal word and integrity with a son that stold her research and knowledge to make himself look good.

When they returned to their camping area she though for a few minutes screw them all, no one would believe her so why should she try to warn them at all. With a sad heart she and Eric gathered some buckets to try to fill the barrows inside their personal niche. Eric was organizing his party member to help out. When they asked why all he had to say was Goldy says a bad storms coming.

When Goldy got to the make she checked the waters and found they were still drinkable for now and with saddened heart started to fill their pails. Just then the scout named Arch came back from the nearby wooded area and shouted a hello. When she gave no answer he went to her side and was startled to see tears, when even the worst conditions did not effect her spirit.

Arch asked, "What's wrong bright eyes your not one for tears?" Goldy turned and started to ask if she told him a secret could he keep it, and he nodded yes. They walked a little into the woods to gain privacy. "Now it's safe to talk, tell this stupid man what troubles you?" Arch worried for a few seconds if it was Eric then knew that boy would never hurt her.

Goldy wiped the tears away and started to talk to him, " For as long as I have been able to think I have the ability to talk to animals. We exchange things from food, stories to others abilities. I have been telling you guys about this information which I did not get from other scouts but from them."

"You see they do not lie, they can be scary, fearful, cleaved but have a internal inability to lie. So I can trust what they say always. This morning I received a warning, about a upcoming disaster and yet when I tried to warn the Commander our Crown Prince no one will let me warn him. If we don't do what I say it will most likely be a end to this years great hunt as well as to most of us."

"This has been why there is little game in this area as well as why what's left has been heading westward to escape these two giant beasts. I'm so afraid of what will happen and don't know what to do!", with that being said she broke into tears once again.

Arch held her until she calmed A bit then offered her a solution he would tell his father about a need to talk to the Prince and since he was the head of the scouts should have no problem getting him in to talk on her behalf that way everything would turn out alright and they could play it smart and be protected.

Goldy jumped up and squeezed him tight laughing being ecstatic with joy and that's when Eric walked around the corner and saw them. Arch felt his heart stop beating when Eric's face flared in anger. Arch could swear later that Eric eyes flamed red and his face changed into a death mask.

Goldy noticing Arch face turned white and his breath stopped. She turned to see Eric with a frightful visage. Not the least scared she jumped into Eric's arms and gave him a even harder hug though it probably hurt her more then him and told him about Arch solution.

She skipped back towards the lake to help the others muttering about hard muscles and heads. Eric smiled slightly and said thanks then turned away. Only then did Arch finally fall to the ground and thank the Lord for life and start to breath easy once again. Man that boy was scarier then a mixture beast.
