Chapter 3 - Argument

He woke up surrounded by the coins. His vision blurry, he look up at Sebastian who was leaning over him confused. He was helped up the standing boy grabbed his wrist and pulled him to his feet. Theodore was gently forced into the bean bag, which sunk into the shape that it was most familiar with. Theodore couldn't see straight but he could hear Sebastian's leather shoes on the metal. He then walked back to the boy on the beanbag and handed him his favourite mug with some water in it. He then walked off again, by this time Theodore's vision started to clear up as he saw Sebastian return with the mask that he was wearing earlier, it was wet. Sebastian then kneeled on the floor next to where Theodore was sitting and pressed the wet piece of fabric stained the boys forehead.

With his free hand that was not holding the mug Theodore placed his hand under Sebastian's to have some control. The blond boy moved his hand away and was concerned.

"Are you okay? You hit your head quite hard"

"Yeah, I it's just that I haven't seen that amount of coins in one place before. I mean 2 platinum. That's-that's like 200 gold. My dad doesn't even earn that in a day. Wait" Theodore said realizing "How rich are you?"

"Does not matter"

Theodore stood up and picked one of the coins from the floor, he nearly fell again because of the weight of the one coin. He then noticed dent on the floor where the coin had been. Sebastian copied Theodore and surely enough there was another dent where the other coin had fell.

"Well that's another delay in our journey"

"Can you fix it?" Sebastian asked

"Well yeah, but it's going to take a couple of days, oh and put these back in you coin pouch please"

And Sebastian did.

Hours passed as the two boys made tea and spoke. Theodore learned that Sebastian was training to be a marine biologist and that he had to go to King's Gate and was to study on the way. Theodore knew who King Mathew was but had only seen him on pictures that Mrs McDerma her house when him and his dad when to see if she needed anything, once a week he would stare into the cold blue eyes of the king wondering what made him so special. To Theodore King Mathew was just a rich old man with a grey beard and a crown.

"Well how did you managed to get here then?" Theodore asked as he leaned forward as much as he could on his beanbag.

"They, the king, put me and four others at different point on his map and we have to race to get to the gate, who gets there first, with the most research that is, gets to study the sea from within the palace walls. Being the king's personal surveyor of the seas in order to help in trade and navy deals"

"You see, I've never met the King. I think he came here once when I was a baby but he hasn't been back since"

"How strange. But I mean why would he come to this smelly fishing town anyway?" Sebastian asked, he asked but Theodore took it differently.

"What's wrong with this 'smelly fishing town'?" Theodore asked standing.

Sebastian could see that the other boy was mad. "Nothing honestly but I mean he has his palace in the west, why would he want to travel north just to get fish?" He said standing to be on the same level as the other boy.

"There is nothing wrong with Darmhallow. Or should I say the 'place with the smelly fish that the king wouldn't want to see'". Theodore was raising his voice at this point "If you care so much than go back to King's Gate and tell him that no one wants him here anyway"

"Calm down Theodore I didn't mean it like that honestly. And I need your help to get there I can't just teleport" Sebastian said calmly putting his hand on his new friend's shoulders and guiding him down to where he was previously sat.

"I need to go" Theodore said through gritted teeth looking at the sun falling over the ocean. "My dad would be wondering where I am. You can stay here for the night while I think about what I'm going to do. Sleep on the beanbag, here have this" Theodore threw the blacket and Sebastian's chest "I'll come back tomorrow morning to see if you're still here. If you're not then I will leave and help my dad at the market." Theodore stood up and walked to the ladder, putting his boot on the first rung.

"Goodnight Sebastian."
