Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

RICHARD'S POV

It's not possible! He can't be back, he just can't! The light destroyed his voice, so how did he get back in.

'You can't be back in my head again.'

The sound of Annabelle's heavy breathing caught my attention. Her eyes were trying their best to stay open, her nails pressed to the sheets of her bed while her chest rose and fall with every passing second. "Annabelle, what's wrong with you?"

Her beautiful blue eyes flickered slowly. "Richard."

"Nurse! Doctor!" I yelled, rushing out of Annabelle's room so I can find the nurse that was assigned to Annabelle's room. "Nurse! Victoria!"

"Richard, what's wrong?" Victoria inquired immediately she caught sight of me. "I heard your voice from the kitchen, what's wrong, dear?"

"She isn't breathing normally." I gasped.

"Annabelle?" she inquired.

"Yes." I cried out. "Where are the doctors and nurses?"

"Calm down," she reassured.

"No, I can't!" I yelled at her, running my hands through my messed up hairs. "I'm so sorry Victoria, I didn't mean to yell at you it's just that I can't imagine anything happening to her."

"I understand." she grinned at me. "Let me get them."

"Please call The King as well," I called out to her before rushing back into her room. Her breathing was still irregular. The machines they placed her on were beeping loudly. Richard was the only name she uttered from her mouth. She was foaming from the mouth, her face was quite pale and it was making me scared to death.

"Annabelle, you will be fine," I whimpered. "Just take in deep breaths."

'It's time to die Princess.' the dark voice in my head laughed at Annabelle's despair.

'Ooh, just shut up Thogos!' I rebuked.

"What's going on here?" a man's voice interrupted Thogos' thought in my head "What happened to the Princess?"

"I have no idea," I replied to the voice before turning round to see who owns it. "Doctor, tell me what's wrong?"

"Stand back, Richard, please." the man intrusted as he checked Annabelle's pulse. "Her pulse level is very low."

"What?" I questioned. "How is that possible?"

"I have no idea," he said. "The poison is kicking its effect again."

"You said it was extracted from her body." I quoted Annabelle grandfather's words. "So how did this happen?"

"I can't answer that question," he said. "We need to operate on her immediately, so please leave the room."

"But.." I cut my voice off because of the doctor's glare. "Okay."

'She's going to die, so what's the need of the operation.' Thogos' voice surfaced in my head like a fucking parasite.

'Shut up Thogos, I don't need your voice in my head you bitch.' I spat.

'Show some respect, Richard.'

'I can't respect a demon like you.' I said.

'You know we are still related so wherever you accept it or not, the truth will always remain.' he said. 'We share a special connection.'

I don't need to focus on his voice right now. She needs my full attention. Thogos' voice will be dealt with later.

'Oh Lord of Light, I don't believe in your existence, but if you are real, then help Annabelle recover. She doesn't deserve this.' I prayed.

A tap on my shoulder prompted me to turn round. Victoria, Isabelle, George and Annabelle's grandfather were all standing behind me, each of them had concern written all over their face. "What wrong with her?" Victoria inquired, as she watched a few nurses rush into Annabelle's room.

"The poison is affecting Annabelle again." I sighed, earning a gasp from Victoria. "The doctor said he needed to perform an operation on her."

"How is that possible, Richard?" The King questioned. "The man told me they had extracted the poison from her body, so how did this happen?"

"I have no idea," I said. "But I'm sure she will recover."

Isabelle raised her hands up to the heavens. "Oh, Lord of Light, please help Annabelle recover!" She adjusted the part of her hair that covered her eyes. "A part of me doubts she will survive, what if she doesn't survive?"

"Enough, Isabelle!" I commanded in a firm tone. "We don't need your negative thoughts here, but if that's your motive, then you better leave here before I lose it."

"Richard, that's not how to speak to Isabelle," George growled at me, his eyes were filled with anger. "Mind the way you speak to my girlfriend!"

"And if I don't?" I challenged, taking a few steps towards him. "What will you do to me?" I felt Thogos having a huge effect on me. He was feasting on my pain and anger, which is a bad thing. I've got to get myself together.

"Richard, you need to watch yourself," George warned me, his fingers were raised to my face.

"We both know I will destroy you if I get provoked." I glared at him. "Before you say anything about what I said, tell your girlfriend to keep her negativity away from us."

"The both of you should stop this right now." The King commanded. "You two are not children who are fighting over a toy."

"Your Majesty.." George stated but sealed his lips after a deadly glare was sent to him.

"Isabelle, we don't need your negative thoughts here so please say nothing like that ever again," he warned. "And you two should never behave like this again, there's no need to lose it over a petty matter. I want you two to apologize now."

Rubbing my left hand through my scattered hair, I extended my other hand for a handshake. "I'm sorry George,"

George just walked out on me while Isabelle followed him from behind. "That was just rude!" I exclaimed when they were out of sight. "He walked out on King Elias' direct order."

"Richard, what you did was below my expectation," Victoria said. "You shouldn't have reacted like that."

"I was wrong but don't forget I attempted to make amendments between us." I reminded her. "But did he do? He walked out on me."

"You need to have control yourself, Richard," she advised. "Don't prompt his voice to make it's way back."

"I've heard from you," I said. "I will try to make it up to him."

"That's my boy!" she grinned as she gave me a tight hug.

He's back Victoria but I can't tell you, it will only make you scared to death and the last thing I want to do is make you worried to death.

The sound of Annabelle's door gained our attention. The doctor emerged from the room, causing our hearts to find their way to our mouth.

"How is she, doctor?" King Elias inquired. "Is she fine or in a terrible state?"

"Calm down, King Elias." the doctor said. "The Princess is perfectly fine, she's completely out of danger."

"Really?" We all chorused.

"Yes, she's okay and conscious." the doctor announced. "We have finally extracted the whole poison."

"Thank the Lights," Victoria exclaimed. "Tell us doctor does she need any specific diet plan?"

"Yes, she does," he stated. "Moderate sweet and fried foods, she needs foods that are high in minerals and vitamins also more rest. I will be here twice a week to give her a regular checkup"

"Can we see her now?" King Elias inquired.

"Sure." the doctor replied. "I advise you to serve her food now, it will help with her  recovery."

"I will get that in a jiffy," Victoria said as she darted into the kitchen.

"I will see Annabelle, join me, Richard." King Elias said.

"Will be there in a sec." I sighed.

"Okay," he said before entering Annabelle's room.

Annabelle's fine and I'm grateful to you, Lord of Lights, but there's one thing you can't- heal my pain.
