receive a direct message from Amelia.
It's pictures of her drawings.
"these are pretty good, like really good"
"you really think so?"
"I do, I also think that you should find the time to do what you enjoy"
I realize that I'm texting her during class. That's a first.
Lucky I sit at the back and no one really watches me that closely to take note and besides we're watching this documentary on the history of art around the world .
Her message pops up.
"I have thought about it, believe me, also.. Are you at class today? "
Why does she want to know if I'm here.
"I am.. What's up?"
"I'm walking to the parking lot, can you meet me there now?"
I'm beaming.
"sure, my class is about to end anyway"
She's standing next to her car. She looks so good in mom jeans, this wrapped shirt, docs and a blazer.
"hi, so I thought if you're not busy we could, uh get coffee " she says shyly.
Is she asking me out on a date? Or is this just a platonic coffee run.
Curiously I ask. "is this a date or"
She turns blood red.
"can we talk in my car, just for a bit"
We get into her car and she stares into the opposite direction of where I'm sitting.
"so... I recently came out to my friends...I don't know why I'm telling you this but uhm I weirdly feel like I can "
She takes what seems like a very long breath and says "I've never done anything like this before and by this I mean ask a girl out, I'd understand if you said no or if you're n.. no"
I cut her off mid-sentence.
"Amelia" I put my hand on her arm.
"I'd really like to get coffee with you"
She looks so relieved. It's adorable. Like I could say no to that face.
"I took a cab, Adrian has my car, we can leave now if you want"
We drive to nooks. She doesn't speak much.
I'm the first girl she's ever asked out?
No pressure.
