Chapter 2 - Reminiscing Memories

'Trng trng' the alarm rings and from the depth of the cozy blankets emerged a beautiful brunette. 'Argh why do you have to be so annoying Mr.Alarm?', she mumbled to herself.

Actually, Melina had the habit of calling her daily objects by names owing to a distant memory of her and her mum calling things by names so that she could learn things easily. Her mum...she still remembers her beautiful face. How she used to wake her up with a loving kiss on the cheek and how every day ended with caring hugs from her. Thinking of those memories she smiled sadly and finally got up and decided to get ready for her work.

Melina was a kind-hearted girl who believes in service and love. She became a doctor after years of hard work which she was extremely proud of. After completing her daily tasks, she came out of her washroom and decided to make a cup of tea. Yep, Melina was a tea person. Making tea she glanced at a small photo hanging near the shelf. It was a photo of her along with all the kids in the orphanage in which she grew up after her parents were gone. She saw herself standing near a young boy who had a light, a fierce light to survive in his eyes.

The little boy was Leonard...her best friend and her first love. She remembered the days in which she used to tutor him for math since he was very bad at it. The days they used to sneak out of their dorms at midnight and watch the stars laying next to each other in the mats of grasses, feeling a strange sense of belonging. It's a beautiful thing to be devoured by the silence which speaks your love for each other so loud that it provides an unusual longing though you lie in each other's arms.

' Those times when we used to fight which one's better...Tea or coffee' Melina reminisced and drank her cup of tea. Finally coming out of her unspoken thoughts, she finally got dressed up and got ready.

Melina loved her job. It gave immense delight to see the smiles of the patients and the cute faces of the children in the clinic. Everyone she knew loved her cause they knew what she had gone through and how she still is strong and has the determination to make people's lives better. Sometimes the only way to recover from past trauma is to help people like you smile again.

Now and then she still thinks of Leonard who vanished into thin air suddenly one day. She still hopes that she would see him again. With the same hope, she sets out for work not knowing what the day has in store for her.
