Chapter 4 - Chapter 3:Devian

I woke up to the smell of... mmm! Breakfast! I flew my feet over the edge of my bed, and stood, ready to start the day. And that was when I was painfully reminded of my injuries. "Ahhh!" The burning pain gripped my ribs. I grabbed onto the edge of the bed and my side, as my legs buckled beneath me. I gently lowered myself to the floor, unable to resume my previous position.

That's when the door flew open! A girl with fiery red hair and a first aid kit, came charging through the door and headed straight towards me! I tried to stand, but the attempt was unsuccessful... again.

"Hey! What are you trying to accomplish, you idiot!?" The girl yelled, as she ran towards me. Once she reached me, she gently took my arm, and helped me to stand.

"I-I was hungry." I stammered. I was so confused. Who the heck was she!?

The girl snorted (which I figured was a laugh), and spoke, "I was just bringing your breakfast... Devian, right?"

At first, the name escaped my mind. And then I remembered the boy, Parker, had mentioned it when he was rescuing me. But I still wasn't sure. "Uh. Y-yeah?"

The Girl smiled. "I'm Mackie."

"Hello, Mackie." I offered Mackie my hand in friendship, but she didn't take it. Instead, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a unique pocket watch, that hosted several intricate gothic designs. It was a breathtaking piece for sure.

"I think this belongs to you?" Mackie said, as she started to hand me the watch.

I looked at Mackie in surprise. What was she talking about?

"Here." Mackie continued to offer the watch. I figured, that maybe it was mine? So I took it. Big mistake... as soon as I had the watch in my hand, I received a blinding pain in my head. "Gaaah!!" I dropped the watch and Flew my hands to my splitting head. What was going on!?

*FLASH BACK*

Devian: "Parker! Please! You can't just "take" our memories! The plan will not work if you do."

Parker: "Leave me alone, Dev! Why don't you just trust me for once!?"

Devian: "Park..."

Parker: "...Please, Devian. I can do this!"

Devian: "Parker! No!"

Parker: "I'm sorry..."

*END FLASH BACK*

I opened my eyes to see that I was laying back on the bed. My vision was blurry, but I figured that was a normal side effect of... wait... was that a flash back!? But... how could I have a flash back if...?

"Hey!" Mackie's voice interrupted my thoughts. "Are you okay?"

It took me a moment to realize that she was talking to me. My eyes slowly focused on Mackie's shocked, if not terrified, face. "I-I don't..." I was at a loss. I didn't know if I was okay, or not! In fact, I wasn't even sure of who I was, or who the people that rescued me were.

"Maybe you hit your head?" Mackie suggested. "Parker said that you had passed out from the broken ribs, but... I am beginning to think he was wrong."

Ah. Broken ribs! That must be where the pain in my side was coming from. But it did not explain the apparent flash back. No, that seemed to have come from the pocket watch.

"Mackie." I decided to ask Mackie how and where she found the watch, "how did you come across this watch? What makes you think that it is mine?"

Mackie, however, was just as confused. "Well." She began, " Parker said that he had seen it lying next to you when he and the boys found you. Why?"

That was all I needed to hear. "Mackie (here, I pulled the best puppy eyes that I could), can you please take me to where they found me? I have a feeling that I left something of importance behind... I'm not sure what, exactly, but I have a feeling..."

Mackie looked at me like I was crazy. "Yeah, no." She said, as she started to walk towards the door that she had entered.

*Note to self* puppy eyes do NOT work on Mackie. "What!" I was shocked. Just a minute ago, Mackie had been trying to help me, and now... "why not?"

"Well first of all, you are weak and helpless."

"I am not!"

"Yeah you are! You need to rest for at least another two days, before we take you anywhere!"

"But..."

"I already talked to Parker, it's settled. No going out. Besides, the place where they found you, is pretty secluded. I have a feeling that no one will disturb anything that was left, Okay?" With that, Mackie left.

I sighed, realizing that I had lost the argument. Oh well, what was the use? Besides, I was not even sure of what was so important anyway. I would just have to hope, Like Mackie said, maybe no one would bother my place of rescue. If only I had known...

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

At Devian's place of rescue, two distorted figures, known as time shadows, are wrestling with each other, over a locket, that is shaped like an hour glass:

Little do they know, that their disagreement is being closely watched, by Salis, Lord of Shadows.

Time Shadow 1: "Itsss mine! Give it here!

Time Shadow 2: "NO! NO! Itsss mine! I found it firssst!

Time Shadow 1: "Massster will not be pleasssed if he knowsss that you found thisss!"

Time Shadow 2: "What! What'sss that sssupposssed to mean!?"

Enter Salis: "What is what supposed to mean, my loyal shadows?"

Both Shadows: "My Lord!"

Salis: "Cut the formalities! What are you two useless shadows fighting about?"

Both Shadows: "I found thisss! Hey! I found it!"

Salis: "ENOUGH!! I don't care who found it, I want to know what it is, that was found!"

Both shadows immediately ceased their childish argument over the trinket, and handed it over to the Shadow Lord. Salis took the locket, and rubbed his thumb across the smooth surface. As he did this, an evil smile made its way to his lips. He knew exactly what this was, and who it belonged to.

Salis: "Well. It seems that you two have some value, after all."

Both Shadows: "...."

Salis: "After all, how can a Time Weaver weave time without his memories?"

Time Shadow 2: "Oooh! Oooh! I love riddlesss! Pick me!"

Salis: "Alright, I'll give you one guess."

Time Shadow 2: "Umm. He could ussse knitting needlesss?"

Salis: "Wrong."

Salis, tired of the childish shadow, reached into the air above the shadow, and pulled out a black time strand. Both shadows stared in horror, as the strand burst into flames in Salis' hand. The shadow that had failed to answer the question correctly, didn't know what hit him... he screamed, as his shadowy body burst into flames, just like his time strand. That was the end of the shadow.

Salis *to himself*: "That boy thinks he can out smart me. That fool! Oh well, I think that it's about time that I pay a vist to my fellow Time Weaver *Insert maniacal laugh.*
