I was in our dining room, eating breakfast, when I heard Mackie finally coming back from bringing our guest... well... proisoner, his food. I watched as she entered the dining room, grabbed her plate, and sat directly in front of me. "Oh, this is just great!" I thought to myself. I knew what she was going to ask, and I knew that the answer that I could offer her, would not be to her satisfaction.
I was sure that I would have to explain to Mackie, that no, we could not keep our prisoner as a guest, due to the fact that he could become a potential threat to all of our lives.
However, If I knew Mackie (and I do), she would probably use some type of reverse psychology trick on me, and then, she would get Leo and Teo to side with her! Of course, I would have to keep my stance on the situation and refuse their pleas, which would make me feel even more guilty about this situation. In short, it would not be a fun experience.
"Alright, Parker." Mackie started in a serious voice, "spill it!"
WHAT!? That was not the conversation I was expecting! Or hoping for, for that matter. Surprised and panicked, I choked on some of my food, thinking of all the possible ways that I might have somehow slipped up, and because of that, Mackie had found out about my plan. She would kill me, if she had figured everything out! "I-I'm not really sure about what you are talking about?" I stammered, hoping that I sounded honest. Of course, this is Mackie that we're talking about. So no, in case you were wondering, she did not buy it. Or... maybe I just didn't sell it...? *Note to Self* reread chapter ten of my self-help book: How to Sell Your Words, Without Selling Yourself... hey, don't judge me.
"Why do think you can hide it?" Mackie's voice was icy cold, now, as it interrupted my thoughts.
"Huh? Me? Hiding something?" *To myself*: "Real smooth, Parker. Real smooth🤦🏻."
Mackie's deadpan expression, told me that she was not interested, nor amused, by my question. I figured that it would probably be in my best interest, to explain what I had had to do to her, the twins, and Devian.
Well, here we go. Nice and slow, Parker...
"ItwasntmyideaIdidntwanttodoityouhavetobelievemebecausethatmemoryspellwassohardtolearnireallydontwanttofigureitoutagain!!*Translation*(It wasn't my idea! I didn't want to do it!You have to believe me, because that memory spell was so hard to learn, I really don't want to figure it out again)... yeah, that was NOT nice and slow.
Mackie's expression went from indifferent, to her "I-have-an-idiot-psychopath-as-my-brother-should-I-call-the-cops" face.
"Okay-y-y then... wow. Parker, what are talking about?" Mackie asked.
I stared at my sister. Wait... so does that mean... "Well, what are you talking about, Mackie?" I turned Mackie's question back on her, suddenly realizing that I may have overreacted.
"Umm. Just that Leo said that you got the job... wait... MEMORY SPELL!?"
"Uh." I was not sure about what I would say next, or about how I would say it. This called for a desperate move... time twisting.
I slowly reached under the table, in order to hide my hand. It was very important that I did not let Mackie see what I was up to. I carefully joined my pointer finger to my thumb. As I did this, I could feel five grains of hour glass sand, forming between my fingers. I slowly rubbed the grains between my my thumb and pointer, until I had formed a straight line. After that, I dragged the sand line across my pointer with my thumb, feeling them turn. Perfect! I had been able to take us right back to where I wanted the conversation...
"Alright, Parker. Spill it!" *Note* if this line seems familiar, it is. I twisted time back to breakfast, so I could answer Mackie's demand properly this time, and not cause suspicion.
"Oh! Well, I know that I can't hide anyting from my sister. Well, guess what? I got the job!"
This time, Mackie looked a lot happier. "REALLY!? I am so happy for you!" She cried, "Leo had mentioned it, but I didn't believe him. You and I both know how unbelievable the twins are."
"Surprise!" I said, happy that she had fallen for the trick (and that I wouldn't have to spend a night in the ICU).
Mackie jumped up from her chair, and threw her arms around me. "I am so happy for you! When do you start?"
"Oh. I actually start..." Here, I glanced at the watch on my wrist, "OH NO! I should have been gone ten minutes ago!" It was my turn to jump out of my chair. I got dressed as fast as I could, while Mackie generously got my lunch together.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
In fifteen minutes, I was on the way to my new job.
I had a good feeling about this one; the manager was an expert antique clock repair man. I figured that this was finally the job for me (I was let go from three others. Ironically, I couldn't seem to get to my job on time).
So, about earlier; I am pretty sure that you want to understand a little more about my ability to twist time. Well, for starters, just so you know, a Time Keeper's time abilities are NOT to be flaunted (in my defense, in Mackie's case, it was an emergency).
Well anyway, I, myself, am a time twister. I can any twist any place of time, into a whole different version of what had originally taken place. With that being said, it had been easy for me to twist time back to when I had come across a memory spell that had been in our library...
Mackie had yelled at me for neglecting a pile of books that had been left off of their shelves. Originally, while I was putting all of them back, my gaze had lingered on an old spell book. Of course, I had not seen the relevant point of reading a dense old spell book at the time. It's not like we're witches, or something.
Anyways, after Devian had informed me about his plan and I had informed the other time keepers, that was when I realized that maybe I could use that spellbook, after all. All I had to do, was to convince Dev. Piece of cake, right? Apparently, I was wrong...
*FLASH BACK*
Me: "Dev. I was hoping that we could try this spell... I just think that it may be, you know, easier."
Devian: "What? What spell?"
Me: "It's just a small memory..."
Devian: "NO!!"
Me: "Devian, please! I can't do this!"
Devian: "Parker. You and I both know that it's against the rules for time keepers to get involved with memories! You could get in serious trouble..."
Me: "Dev, it will be so much easier..."
Devian: "Parker! Please! You can't just "take" our memories! The plan will not work if you do."
*END FLASH BACK*
I suppose that after Devian, my best friend, said this... I don't know... I guess I lost it. I remember screaming at him, accusing him of not trusting me. He had looked at me with such a hurt expression. He begged me not to do it, but it was too late. As I twisted the time, along with the memories of my friends, I looked straight at Devian... "I'm sorry..." I said. And I truly was.
