Amarie is standing in the street. The crowd she was once taking to is starting to disperse. Sveinn and Demir, still in shock, walk up to Amarie
Sveinn: Amarie...wha-
Demir: WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?!
I thought you said you didn't have an ability.
Amarie: [confused] I don't...
Demir: Well your eyes said otherwise
Sveinn: How do you feel?
Amarie: I don't know...tired I guess
Amarie looks down at the palms of her hands
Amarie: [Whisper] Could I really have an ability?
Amarie brings her attention back to Sveinn and Demir
Amarie: We can figure it out later, but right now we should help fix the shop, then..help the people.
The three outcasts spend the rest of the day helping the store owner. They clean up the shop and board any broken windows.
Store Owner: Thank you all so much! I don't know what I would've done if you all hadn't shown up
Amarie: That's our purpose. To help those who have no power against the authorities. Low ranks have no power in this world, but we're going to fix that.
Store Owner: Well I'd love to help in any way I can
Demir: Maybe give us a place to sleep...or some food.
Amarie lightly elbows them
Demir: What? She said she wanted to help...
Store Owner: Of course!! If you need a place to sleep for the night, you can stay in the room above the shop
Demir flashes a smile at Amarie as she rolls her eyes
Time 23:00 -Location: Spare room above the shop
Demir and Sveinn, tires from the day, are passed out on a mattress together, sound asleep. Amarie, lying on the worn-out couch, is asleep breaking out into a cold sweat. Flashes are going through her head. Images of her life flash before her.
Inside Amarie's mind/dream
Amarie is standing, alone with nothing but darkness surrounding her. She looks down at her hands, which appear to be clammy. She looks back up to see her reflection staring back at her, but this one is different. Her reflection's green eyes are glowing bright, brighter than ever before. Amarie reaches her hand out to touch her, but the reflection comes to life, turns around, and runs away.
Amarie: Wait! Come back.
Amarie starts to run after her as her surroundings around her start to change. She is now at her old school. In front of her are Amarie and Sveinn, as kids. Young Amarie is on the ground, beat up, and crying.
Sveinn(young): Here [reaches a hand out] let me help you up
Amarie(young): thanks[grabs his handI]
Sveinn(young): I'm Sveinn by the way
Amarie(young): ...Amarie
Amarie watches as young Amarie and Sveinn laugh and run off to play together. Then she sees the reflection of herself appear again. Amarie starts running after her
Amarie: Stop, please! What's going on? Where am I?
Suddenly, Amarie finds herself at the harbor. She watches as her 14-year-old self and Hiroshi escape from the ship. Before she watches herself get burned by the police, she runs off scared. She takes a turn past the cargo and all of a sudden finds herself at the old, abandoned building that she and Hiroshi escaped to.
Hiroshi: Oh Amarie. I'm so sorry this happened
Amarie(14 yrs): It's ok Hiroshi. I'm used to this kind of thing. It's never been this bad before...but(smiles) it'll be ok.
Hiroshi: (sighs) Amarie, no one should have to deal with this kind of thing. Just because you weren't born with the same ability as them, doesn't mean your life doesn't have any value. Everyone, no matter what their ability is, deserves to have a chance at life.
Amarie: Really?!? Do you think maybe one day I'll be like them? You know, strong and powerful
Hiroshi: Amarie... I don't want you to be like them. You..you're already strong and powerful. The world just doesn't see it as I do. One day, you'll do great things. Just remember, power changes people. When people gain power, they have to choose to help...or hurt. If you ever possess power as they do, remember Amarie, don't forget who you are.
Hiroshi starts to cover Amarie's burns with wrap. Present-day Amarie looks down at her arm and leg to look at the scars she received that day. 14-year old Amarie winces in pain as Hiroshi continues to wrap her arm, leg, neck, and face. Her former self then lifts her head to look at Amarie. Amarie looks down at her in sorrow. As she continues to look at her former self, Both of their eyes start to glow.
Location: Room above the shop
Amarie wakes up gasping for air. Her eyes continue to glow as they did in her dream. Demir and Sveinn both sit up wondering what is happening. They both watch as Amarie's eyes continue to glow.
After about 10 seconds, the glow fades and Amarie is able to catch her breath.
Sveinn: Amarie? Are you ok? What happened?
Amarie: I...I don't know. I don't know what's happening to me. Lately, I've been feeling different...I don't know how to describe
Demir: Like you have more power?
Amarie nods her head
Demir: (light chuckle) I told you! You have an ability. I don't suppose you know what it is
Amarie shakes her head in disappointment
Demir: (reassuring) That's ok. We'll figure it out...together. We're here for you, Amarie.
Amarie:(smile) thanks...I don't even know where to start.
Sveinn: Well...It can't be a physical ability, right? A physical ability wouldn't make your eyes glow like that.
Amarie: So it's mental ability. Like telekinesis?
Demir: (excited) Maybe clairvoyance, or telepathy!
Sveinn: It could be any of those. Maybe we should just get some rest and figure it out tomorrow.
Amarie: I'm not really in the mood to sleep right now...
Sveinn: Did you have a bad dream?
Amarie: There were just things that appeared that I didn't really want to remember. As much as I want to forget them, those events...made me who I am today.
Amarie looks down in sorrow. Both Sveinn and Demir hug Amarie, which seems to cheer her up.
Amarie:(whispers) It'll be ok.
