Time 7:30 Location- In front of the antique store
After last night's events, Amarie wasn't able to get much sleep. She looked exhausted, and Sveinn and Demir noticed. Demir notices a flyer posted on a nearby light post.
Demir: Hey! I know what'll cheer you up(grabs flyer and shows it to Amarie and Sveinn) This masquerade ball!! My parents host it every year. We're not exactly on the best terms right now, but that's the great thing about this! Anyone can go and (smirk)a mask is required.
Sveinn: I guess it would be a nice distraction if we went
Amarie: -but I don't even have a mask...or a dress
Demir: (excited) sounds like its time to go SHOPPING!!!
-side note- sorry to interrupt the story π Demir does have a lot of money on hand...they just don't have enough to buy a home in the city...that's why they lived on the street...
The three outcasts go from store to store, trying on different outfits. Sveinn ends up buying a plain white tux along with a mask that looks like the same one in The Phantom of the Opera. Demir bought themselves a black suit vest that matches the black of their pants along with a crimson red button-up shirt. They have a simple mask that covers just the top part of their face, but they decided they wanted it bedazzled with jewels to match their sparkling personality. After spending hours trying to find the right look, Amarie chose to wear an emerald green dress that falls to her knees. They arrive at the town hall, where the ball is being thrown.
As soon as they walk in, Demir immediately goes straight to the buffet and starts stuffing their face with food. Sveinn and Amarie are standing awkwardly near the entrance. Amarie turns her head and notices a group of girls standing in the corner, laughing. Amarie notices the girl talking. She's tall with dark skin and will her hair up in a braid.
Amarie: (blushing) I wonder who those girls are...
Sveinn: They look to be about our age. Maybe Demir knows them. They grew up in this city after all.
Amarie continues to stare at the three girls, mesmerized by their friendship, their acceptance of one another. Friendship she wishes she had back in Taikal.
Sveinn: (nudges Amarie) Hey, wanna dance?
Amarie smiles and grabs Sveinn's hand as they walk toward the center of the room. Amarie puts her arms around Sveinn's neck as he puts his arms around her waist
Sveinn: I was wondering...has Demir said anything about me? You two talk a lot and I haven't really gotten a chance to talk to them.
Amarie: (chuckles) Oh they definitely have been talking about you. Why don't you go ask them to dance?
Sveinn: Are you sure? I don't want to leave you alone
Amarie: Go! I'll be fine.
Sveinn hugs Amarie and then walks over to the buffet table where Demir is still stuffing their face with food. Amarie watches as Sveinn goes over to Demir and asks them to dance. Excitement spreads across their face and they both rush back onto the dance floor. Amarie smiles and turns around only to bump into someone.
Amarie: Oh!...I'm so...sorry(blushes)
Amarie freezes up as soon as she realizes she bumped into the girl she saw earlier
Girl: (confused) Are...you ok?
Amarie: (snaps back to reality) uhhhh...yeah! Sorry...my mind just went black there for a second. Not that you asked but here I am telling you anyway.hehehe...
but yeah I'm completely fine.
Girl: ok...
Are you here alone?
Amarie: What? oh uhh...no. My friends are dancing right now...(awkward) somewhere
Girl: Well, if you're not busy right now...you wanna go on a walk somewhere? I need to get some fresh air.
Amarie:(blushing) Sure!
Amarie and the girl go outside to a nearby garden
Girl: soooo...What's your name?
Amarie: Amarie, yours?
Girl: Maisha (pronounced My-ee-sha)
Amarie: Well... it's nice to meet you, Maisha
Maisha: likewise...
I don't think I've seen you around here before
Amarie: I'm originally from Taikal, but due to...recent events, we came to Meihei.
Maisha: What happened?
Amarie: I shouldn't say...
Maisha: You can trust me. Plus (points to mask) it's not like I know what you exactly look like.
Amarie: (sigh)... I don't have an ability
Maisha: (shocked) Oh
Amarie: Well...at least I don't think I do. I don't know. It's...confusing.
Maisha: Wow...tjat's tough. I can't even imagine what that must've been like
Maisha and Amarie are sitting on a bench in the garden. Maisha puts her hand on top of Amarie's.
Maisha: For what it's worth. I think you're really brave to have escaped and survived. It's not every day you see a no rank.
Amarie: Really?
Maisha: (Smiles) yeah
Amarie suddenly closes her eyes and kisses Maisha. Realizing what she's doing, she pulls away quickly.
Amarie: I'm so sorry. I don't know what I was thinking
Maisha: (chuckles) It's ok
We should head back. It's starting to get cold out
Amarie: ...yeah...
As Amarie walks into the building she notices that Maisha didn't follow her in. With a disappointed look on her face, she continues to look for Sveinn and Demir. She finds both of them off of the dance floor talking to each other. They seem to be enjoying themselves. She starts walking towards when suddenly the doors burst open. The police start running in, interrogating people.
Police officer:(points to Amarie) There she is. Get her!
Police officers surround Amarie. She tries to fend them off but there are too many. They put her in handcuffs. She gives Sveinn and Demir a worried look. As Amarie accepts her defeat she looks up to see Maisha talking to an officer with a smirk on her face. As Maisha turns to look Amarie in the eyes, a look of guilt spread across her face.
Maisha: Amarie, I'm so-
But it's too late for her to say anything. The police throw Amarie into the back of the car and take her away.
