Chapter 4 - Random Chapter IV

Oneliner: "...so I shall be your familiar from this day on."

Genre: Fantasy

(A/N I'll keep this shorter since his text is a little Sneak Peek for Emperor of Wolves. I'd appreciate feedback and suggestions for improvement. I hope you enjoy it. It may change before being implemented into the book.)

"Finally..." Leo arrived back at the palace. "They didn't hold back, did they?" Leo could feel his heart beating like crazy he never was so nervous before entering the imperial palace. His home. "Mom... Dad. I hope you're fine." Leo started walking through the main hall, most of it laid in ruins, or was ablaze. "This is unforgivable, outrageous. I swear, as the goddess help me, I will kill those who are responsible for this." Through all his rage, he cast a wind spell powerful enough to burst open the palace doors, blow around the rubble and blow out any fire in the main hall. "Oh crap, I forgot. I shouldn't use magic! Mom, Dad, I'm coming!"

Leo began the search for his parents, but he knew deep inside: He would never be able to talk to them anymore. "Best bet? Throne room!" Leo desperately whispered as an attempt to calm himself down before entering. Upon opening the door just a little bit, he stopped as a disgustingly strong smell of blood hit him. Panic arose as Leo now burst through the door, to see his lifeless parents and their respective throne. A text written in blood was on the wall, orcish. It translated to: Long live the emperor.

Leo's was in ruins, ready to cry, yet he remained calm. He knew now there wasn't any other way but to do that. As immoral it would sound, Leo was determined to play with life and death. "Necromancy. If I remember correctly, the grimoire was labeled: Necromancy for the braindead" Leo started running towards the library, however, slowed down as soon as he arrived, panting and exhausted. "I *pant* should train *pant* way more."

Inside there were thousands of books of all colors and sizes. Here was Leo's favorite place in the palace. It always offered a unique smell and calmness. Regarding the events, the atmosphere seemed to adapt to the dull and threatening feeling from everywhere else. Leo was surprised by how untouched the library has compared to every other room. As he passed by a bookshelf, he noticed a grimoire he has never seen anywhere near the palace. He pulled it out and read out loud: "Living the Legend."

All of a sudden, the back of his hand started to burn, and a gentle and calming female was spoke to his mind: "Ragaz Blackburn, son to Curtis Blackburn and Ivy Blackburn. I've come to heed your call for help, so I shall be your familiar from this day on."

(A/N I hope you enjoyed it. I encourage you to leave suggestions for improvement.)
