It was a usual night in Washington, as I was about to close my detective agency and call it a day. I'm an unknown detective I didn't expect any requests anymore tonight. Until a woman came around the corner off Apple Road, frantically looking left and right. As she spotted me, she ran towards me, "Detective Carter! I'm glad I ran into you. I desperately need your help." I took a closer look and immediately the woman as Miss Baker. She wore her usual red ruffled dress. She wore black high heels. "Miss Baker? What seems to be the problem?" I opened the door and with a simple hand gesture for her to enter the building.
Miss Baker entered my office and distressed walk up and down. "Miss Baker, I need you to calm down and tell me what your problem seems to be." Still uneasy, Miss Baker sat down in the chair in front of my always messy desk. "Detective Carter. I need your help! My daughter, Cassy, was been kidnapped. The perpetrators want one million US dollars. I am not allowed to contact the police or they might hurt her."
The bushes in front of my window rustled. I rushed outside, maybe getting a good look at the eavesdropper. "Have you been followed?" A confused Miss Baker timidly shook her head. "Hm...anyway, we need to gather information fast!" On the way to Miss Barker's house, I asked for the most necessary, talking quietly, since I spotted the stalker again. In the corner of my eye, it looked like were calling someone.
"So, let me rehearse: Your family doesn't have any enemies, Cassy was supposed to go to her boyfriend but she never arrived. Instead, when you got home Cassy's room had a broken window and, the floor was covered in blood?" I was thinking about all the how' or why's of this case. Finally, as we reached Cassy's room. Clothes were strewn all around the room, cupboards were ripped open, the bed upside down.Everything looked like someone searched for something, based on the looks and the missing person they didn't find what they were looking for. The many blood puddles on the carpet floor are not the only indicator of these people being a dangerous bunch. I needed to find her, quick.
