Chapter 12 - Chapter Eleven

"Gusion, I..." Right before Guinevere could utter her answer, the ground began to tremble an not far from where they stood, the Lord was tramping towards them.

"H-Hold that thought!" Gusion told her nervously. He grabbed her hand and fled her away. "We need to lose this guy first before he kills us."

"Can't we take him?"

"No, there's only two of us and you're one step away of losing your leg, milady! Come on, I'll carry you."

Guinevere swings her arm around his neck as he lifts her up in one forced motion. After turning to a corner, there was a tall foliage of grass and Gusion didn't think twice about choosing it as their temporary hiding spot.

Gusion puts her down softly in the grass. He kept his mouth shut and eyes glued to the Lord who had only walked past them.

"I think we're safe for now," Gusion sighed in relief, turning his gaze back to Guinevere. Studying her bleeding leg, he enables his healing magic.

"Gus, you'll lose your mana." Guinevere had declined.

"I rather lose all of it than to lose you." There was softness in his eyes as he spoke in a pigeon's coo.

Guinevere had no choice but to watch him heal her. Anyhow, she needed two legs to run quickly if she wanted to see the Death Chanter alive and with all of her seven limbs still attached.

Gusion was determined to get her strength back, even if it meant invading her space by touching some upper parts of her thighs, though she doesn't seem to mind.

"Thank you." She whispered after he was finished. Noticing how their faces were only centimeters apart, Guinevere slowly backed away. "To answer your question earlier, I-"

Gusion cuts her off when he pulls her in an instant for a slow-paced kiss. Frozen in her spot, it was as though she had been in an out-of-body experience. She watched as she lets him take over, letting his lips travel down to her neck as he lies her below him on the grass.

Granger sighed and slapped his face for the millionth time as Alucard had been attacked by the mysterious ninja again. Granger fired his last batch of bullets, and when he had enough of watching Alucard becoming the stupid bait, he decided to use his third attacks and have his violin case turn into a cannon, sending massive rockets. He didn't care whether he was going to kill Alucard as well, he just want the pesky assassin to die already.

After firing one last rocket to the jungle where Hayabusa must be hiding, Granger walked over towards Alucard who was trying to regain his strength. "He's gone." Said Granger after having his eyes scan around the clearing for a few seconds and saw their enemy no more.

"You could've killed me!" Yelled Alucard, though his outburst was of no effect to the boy.

Granger decided to roam without caring if Alucard was following or not. His eyes immediately stopped upon an object that didn't belong in its surroundings. Picking up the purple bonnet from the ground, Granger was in immense bewilderment.

"She's here, alright." Granger told his fellow demon hunter. They then stopped in front of two dividing paths. "We should split up if we want to find her faster."

"I see you're becoming excited."

"Shut up." Granger seethed. He didn't throw the blonde another glare and went straight to the right path.

When Guinevere realized what was going to happen, she pushed Gusion off. "I-I must not, Gusion. I'm sorry."

Gusion backed away thankfully. He was wearing a pondering, frustrated scowl and Guinevere assumed it was her new as mad about.

"Gus, I'm really sorry..."

"Nonsense, Guinevere." It was shocking enough. He hasn't called her by that name before. It was always Miss Violet or simply Violet. And it felt weird to be called Guinevere, it felt like she was now only an acquaintance to him. "I should be the one to plead for your apology for I let myself take advantage of you, in which I should not. I am a man of royalty and discipline. I should've resisted these urges."

Guinevere had no say anymore. She didn't want to say it was going to be all right, for it's going to be awkward going back as best friends. Their friendship was now broken. Perhaps it already was the second he proposed.

The tension between them grew uncomfortably thick as they continue to lay in the grass. "I thought that you loved me back," Gusion muttered. "But I was right. You only lied to me out of pity. All my efforts of trying to earn your love for the past years led to nothing but the destruction of our friendship."

Guinevere can only stare at the boy beside her. She frowned when she catch sight of the ring. He was still wearing it. He shouldn't. He knew she didn't love him back, no matter what he did, he will only be just a good friend to her.

"So you're looking for the Death Chanter?" He said it strangely casually, which was painful for Guinevere to only reply a nod. "May I ask, why you are looking for him?"

"He was the boy I met a few years back." Guinevere spoken at last, but her voice was caught in a cough. "We never really bonded, but we became friends in an instant. From then on, he has become an important part of me."

"Not to sound jealous, but do you still think he's the same kid you met? What if he doesn't know you anymore and mistakes you as a demon?"

"He sent me this..." Patting her head, she trailed off and jumped back to her feet, scanning the ground for her bow. "My bow is gone. Have you seen it?"

"No, I didn't see you wearing one when I first saw you here." Gusion replied. Coming out of hiding, Guinevere encircled the whole clearing for her bow.

"Gwen?"

A recognizable gorgeous man with perfect blonde hair catches Guinevere and Gusion's attention. "Lance!" Gasping in excitement, Guinevere ran towards her brother and lunged at him for a suffocating hug.

"Oof! Gwen, you're... killing... me!" The Perfumed Knight grunted in pain as he pushed his sister off.

"It's so wonderful to see you brother!" Said Miss Violet full of glee. "I have been looking everywhere for you."

"As I could say the opposite to you." The knight nervously chuckled, reminiscing the torturous times she used him as a main test subject for his experiments.

Also noticing Gusion who had just came out of their hiding spot, a knowing smirk appeared on Lancelot's face. "Congratulations on your engagement by the way. Though I didn't know you were having your honeymoon so soon here in the Celestial Palace."

"Why, you!" Guinevere groaned, enraged. "We're legally engaged yes, but we're still not married." Retorted Guinevere.

Gusion cleared his throat uncomfortably as he shook Lancelot's hand. "Pleasure to meet you here, Lancelot."

"Hello to you too, future brother-in-law." Lancelot said, throwing a smiling glance at his grumpy sister. "Now, by all means, what are you doing here if you aren't having your honeymoon?"

Lancelot has no idea Guinevere wanted him dead at the moment.
