Chereads / A Goblin's story / Chapter 28 - the prophet of balance and Palitoh's chosen king

Chapter 28 - the prophet of balance and Palitoh's chosen king

The statue searches the room slowly, as if taking in every detail in its surroundings. The grinding of is head moving around on its neck, the sound of soft stone as dirt crumbled from its joints. It makes eye contact with us and stands. It was a giant. I hear Xyle shift behind me and note the sound of his sword sliding out of its sheath.

"Don't draw." I demands.

"What??" Xyle pauses for a moment. "Wait. Why? Is it not going to attack?"

"I don't know. It doesn't look provoked yet, so I assume not. So don't."

"But how can you be sure it won't?"

"We might be able to communicate with it. Don't try anything yet."

"But what if it's some guardian puppet?" Oh for the...

"This is Palitoh's temple. It can be the Guardian or an overseer. Either way, I don't think we need to attack."

"... I'm drawing just in case."

"Xyle, I swear to the heavens, I will bite you. Let go of your sword." I glare at him. Xyle lets go of his sword and it sheaths again with a click that echoed through the room.

I look back to the statue and notice its gaze heavy on me. I hold my breath at the intimidation but I don't feel intimidated. Odd thing to feel but yeah.

"Hello." A voice suddenly rumbles through the room as if it came from another space. The statue looks back to Xyle. "Welcome, young hero. What brings you to summon this king to you?"

"... Holy hell, it talks." Xyle mutters. "Hi. Uh hey Tess, what did we come here for?"

"Good question. I came here for my scavenger trial. What are you here for?"

"I'm here because of you!"

"You're here because you wanted to follow me. What about what your mission?"

"Oh right. That. I came to search for the great blade. The one left here by Palitoh."

"... Is that all you wish?"

"Huh?? Uh well ah. No. But don't worry about the other thing. I'm happy for now."

"Huh?"

"And the others?"

"G-good day, to you." The Baron says as bravely as he could sound.

"It's close to nigh, but we'll enough, young baron. What do you wish from here?"

"I and my companion here have come for blessing tablets to return with."

"You and the lady mage? Interesting." He paused and my ear twitched. Something was wrong with the barons statement. "And you good mercenary."

"... I can for a record of the gods that resides in this temple."

"... Very Well. Hero. This is what you seek. Use it wisely now. And be sure to return it to the right place when you are done with it." Kind of a laid back response but okay. Xyles sword gets replaced with a gleaming large crimson dagger that hung from his belt on his back.

"Whoa th-thank you."

"You're welcome. Baron, you and your 'friend' shall be met with what you seek outside. Treat it well."

The Baron and the girl suddenly vanish leaving a hint of blood in the air for my nose to pick up. That didn't smell good at all.

"Good mercenary. Simply ask it of this child here." The statue points to me. Wait I know something he wants?

"The goblin?" Mason asks. He looks to me confused and I am just as lost. Xyle suddenly calls to me.

"Oh Tess! That room we passed on the way back here with the gods in it!"

"... Oh!! That room! What is it you need to know exactly?"

"There are scripts I need to collect."

"Scripts How many?"

"Seven I believe."

So he wants the ones that are missing. I pull out my notepad that I wrote them down on and hand them to him. He looks through them and goes wide eye completely please.

"Thank you. I don't know how you got this, but I'm grateful nonetheless."

"Yeah. Sure thing."

"Now child"

"Y-yes!?"

"Haha! No need to be frightened. I simply didn't get a full answer from you. I figured it was something you didn't want the other to hear."

"Wait. You mean the barons and mage?... True I didn't trust them with any of this."

"Yet you trust these two? Enough to have them keep you company?"

"... I don't mind them hearing my request if that's what you're asking."

"You minded before then?"

"We weren't a party before, and even after I didn't find it necessary since none of us shared our goals until this point."

"... Well said! Then what do you ask for? Are you ready to bare the burden of it?"

"... I have to be. My livelihood depends on it."

"... Is that all?"

"Look. I get what you're doing and I don't care how selfish my goal sounds to you, but to me this sort of thing will help a lot more than what's known about those like me. Especially those like me."

"Well said! Just one more question then before I ask the real one. Promise."

"Alright."

"Where do the Lord's reside your heart?"

"... I don't understand the question."

"The seven lords. Where are they in your heart? Or more precisely where is your heart located to have two of them in you already?"

"... What??" Where is my heart?? Isn't it beating in my chest? It asked as if I don't have one. And what? Is something else replacing it??

Malcolm what is he saying?

It's nothing strange. But are you sure you want to be in this space?

It's the only way I can give an answer! And is there someone else here that I'm unaware of!?

Yes and no. That's not an easy one to answer. The best I can give you is my sister, Hayula. But she isn't spiritually here like I am.

that makes no sense!

Guess this is my only answer for now.

"... The best I can tell you is that the black god has presided himself in me and made me a disciple of balance. Is that sufficient?"

"... Very much so." He paused. I just met this thing and I already know what those pauses mean.

"What are you not satisfied with?" I ask before it had the chance to ask his last question.

"... Your answer. But it's clear you yourself aren't sure of it, I can see you do not lie. So I will take it as is for now, so for my final question to you. What do you wish for?"

"... Your talisman of the golden temple, your majesty." I say as I step to one knee and lower my head.

"On one condition, child of balance." Child of

"WHOA!!" the statue was suddenly in front of me with a hand on my head lifting me off the ground and suspending me high in the air just over his head.

"Prove you're can handle the responsibility and I will give it to you. And allow your party to leave with their items."

"What!? Them too!? They don't have anything to!! Aha aahaaAH!!" FUCK! He's trying to crush my skull!!

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

"Tessa!" Xyle draws his dagger and rushes the statue that held Tessa suspended. Mason draws his clever and goes after him. The statue uses his other hand to stop the blades and and knocks them over. Xyle trips from the loss of balance and Mason slides a good distance from them. Tessa pulls at the fingers to get the statues grip on her head loose.

"Good! Good! That's it, fight back! Else this wouldn't be a proper test."

The statue throws Tessa across the room and into the stairway, completely destroying it.

"TESSA!!! Holy fucking Christ!!! Why!!?" Xyle panics. "What is going on!!?"

"Hero!! Calm down!" Mason calls out. "We need to get out of here! Go grab the goblin!"

"R-right!"

The statue suddenly appears in front of Xyle and blocks his way to her. "Now now. I can't let you do that yet. This is a test after all."

The statue kicks Xyle to Mason and makes them crash into each other. The statue walks to Tessa until he stood just above her. She was badly bruised and her limbs were dislocated in odd places. Her body slowly started to regenerate as she regained the strength to look up at it tower over her.

"Well now, child. I would like to know if you have the resolve to carry the burden the gods placed on you. But I doubt you know how grand the burden really is. So I will add a condition to help you understand. If you prove your resolve, I will give everyone their required item for their quests. And even give you my blessing. Though truth be told, I am curious as to why they chose a goblin golem of all things to do this. It's quite contradictory really." The statue clenches its fist and gets ready to strike down on her. "Then again, master Palitoh did the same to me before I became this and got trapped here by a bunch of ungrateful excuses of worshippers!"

He strikes down as hard as he could and the rubble goes flying. Tessa leaps past its head and lands behind the statue. It missed.

"... Do you mean the incident with the disappearance of the white church?"

The statue looks to her. Then to the place he hit. "... Indeed. It was an odd occurrence to be honest. They knew what they were doing would disturb the balance that the black and white god held for the world, yet they broke a taboo and locked us all away in these temples. Really now, what were those fool thinking?"

"That's a good question. Maybe we could ask their descendants?"

"True enough. But you'll have to resolute yourself first." The statue rushes Tessa and dashes past her to Xyle and Mason.

Tessa runs after it and dropkicks it's head, knocking the crown off its head. Mason takes the opportunity to take a swing at it with his clever. Tessa jump out of the way and the statue dodges just in time. Xyle suddenly appears behind it and aims for the joint in its head. The statue grabs the blade of Xyle's dagger and arm and sends him to Tessa. Tessa catches him and uses him as leverage to roundhouse kick as the statue rushes her again. It blocks and jumps out of the way of Xyles dagger again.

"Whoo!" The statue sighs. "You guys know how to work as a team. That's for sure."

"It's a matter of trust in your comrades." Xyle says confidently.

"That's a matter of perspective really." Tessa rebuttals.

"Heh! I like that! That's nice! I'm more amazed at the Mercenary being so willing to protect you now of all times."

"... Like the goblin said." Mason replies. "'It's a matter of perspective really.'" His clever suddenly starts glowing as his blessed marks start to appear in lime green and glow around his shoulders and flow onto his clever.

Tessa grabs Xyle and they run towards Mason who swings his clever into the ground sending a shock wave to the statue who blocks it as it's pushed a few yards back. It looks up to find Tessa's foot heading for its eye. It knocks her foot away before it connects just in time to find Xyle ready to strike up at its head. It dodges and punches Xyle in the side only to be met with Mason charging him from his clever aim to the chest. It parries, Mason is thrown off and Tessa returns with a punch as she howls and connects to his head again. He topples and catches him self then grabs Tessa's arm and throws her across the room. Mason and Xyle rush to her side and catch her and place her down.

The statue glares at them with excitement. "Again, I am curious, mercenary. What binds you to these two? Aside from the job of keeping watch."

"Hmph. A better question is. Why do you allow me to stay here when it has nothing to do with me?"

"... Clever play, good mercenary. But I have that answer. The information you have has everything to do with her. Which is more my business than the hero is."

"Wait. What?" Xyle is confused to what the statue said about him. "What does that mean?"

"It means you are the one that shouldn't be hereActually, why are you still here? You have what you need?"

"It's cuz his obsession with the goblin had him become a party with her so now he's stuck with her." Mason answers.

"Ah. Well now who's not making sense."

"Oh for the gods in heaven, WHY ARE WE FIGHTING!?!?!?"

"You need to take responsibility for your title."

"Why do I have to fight!!? Seriously! Are you just trigger happy or something!?"

"A bit. Though so far you are proving to be a good lead. That's a good start."

"That's not answering my question!"

"... Oh~... You never got the real explanation of your title why though?"

"I don't know. I didn't have the time?"

"Hm" the statue starts to glow with the gold lines and circles. "Then all I shall say is you are the chosen candidate for the throne." He suddenly vanishes and rushes Tessa. "Congratulations!"

Tessa jumps over it and stomps its back to gain distance again. Tessa suddenly starts muttering to herself while Xyle and Mason kept the statue distracted. Xyle notices her standing still and calls to her.

"TESSA! What the hell!?"

"Shut up!" Mason says to Xyle. He knew what she was doing and had to stop Xyle from making her lose focus.

"Approved."

acknowledged.

Activating [core].

[night dancer spells] activated.

[dark magic counter spells] activated.

Connecting to [Alfa trigger].

Tessa's blessings start to appear on her body and start to steam as if burning into her skin.

[Alfa trigger] ready.

All senses set for battle.

All limits removed.

All skills at new level sets.

All blessings set to fight response.

Her marks are now completely exposed and appear as around her like a shield. The dark emerald colors trace her arms and legs while the night blue mark traced her spine. Only a small portion of the black mark pulsed behind her clothes where no one could see. Her nails, became the only part of her body that exposed the black blessing. She rushes to the trio and pounces the statue. Mason and Xyle jump out of range while the statue blocks the attack and is sent flying.

Takes the opportunity to release his blessings as well and his lime green marks do the same as Tessa's, coating his arms like shields. Xyle looks to the two in amaze.

"Hero, now is the time to do the same." Mason says to him.

"Eh!?"

"Oh no. Don't tell me they didn't teach you about charm release." Tessa says.

"Uh!"

"Are you serious!?" Mason shouts then instantly covers his mouth.

"Ugh. We don't have time for this. Hold still." Tessa grabs the base of Xyle's skull and her blue mark glows until all of his marks start to pulse and he strains from the sensation of them burning through his skin. He cringes once they release and she lets him go.

"... Whoa" Xyle looks to his body in amaze as the marks move like clockwork as he moves.

"This is temporary, got it?" Tessa tells him.

"Yeah." Xyle stands ready to fight completely excited for what he might be capable of.

"Whoo! That was a rush" the statue stands and looks to the trio and rushes them again. He's suddenly distracted by Xyle's new marks knowing he didn't know how to release them yet. Mason took the opportunity to swing and send a shock wave at it. It dodges and attacks Xyle who blocks with the dagger. "Ooh~! This is exciting, isn't it, young hero. To be taught such a thing from a new god king. You must be honoured."

"Geh!!" Xyle is sent back a few yards and admires his new resistance. "... Yeah. It does feel good."

"Good! Good!" The statue throws a punch and Xyle dodges it and roundhouse kicks it in the side. His kick was strong enough to crack a hole in it as it slides across the room to the throne. The statue checks it's now crumbling side to reveal a fleshy patch pulsing from underneath. "... very good."

Tessa rushes the statue to kick and it catches her foot and slams her into the seat of the throne. Mason attacks next and gives a barrage of attacks. The statue blocks and dodges each one before getting a punch in. Xyle jumps the statue next and it stops his dagger which pierces through its arm. It uses the chance to snatch the dagger from Xyle and grabs Xyles face to slam him onto the ground. Mason returns with a grab to its head making it topple back to the throne where Tessa sat waiting to bunny kick it to the sky and hops out of the seat to overshoot its height.

The statue looks up at her as they fall watching her green marks move to her legs as sparks appear at her feet. He saw she could feel it but she lets it happen as they crash to the ground.

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

Ha Ha I have my feet firmly planted into its face. The crater beneath us was big enough to make a bowl bath in. I could see half his head was buried half way through the center. It wasn't moving. The dust around us finally cleared enough for me to see that the throne was gone and the boys were staring at us in concern. I stumble off of it and stagger toward them completely worn out. I swear I'm done fighting.

I hear the crunch of the earth behind me as I make my way to the boys. I had to stop to check and sure enough the statue king stood back up, completely wrecked. I did a hell of a number on its face, that's for sure. Its head and torso were crumbling as it moved. The eye was barely staying in place. The jaw was disconnected and hanging from some kind of flesh underneath that was pulsing and twitching as the jaw swung about. It's torso was falling apart as it tried to hold itself together.

"... Well then" it's voice echoes as if nothing happened. "That was well done. Very nicely executed I must say." As it spoke the crumbling stopped and started to repair itself in reverse slowly down to the smallest chip. "Well done, child and company. I didn't expect you to use your element or your Alfa trigger to awaken the hero of all people. That part was absolutely beautiful!" It starts clapping as it made its way towards us. "A bit sloppy on the heroes end but amazing nonetheless, child. With that in mind, have you come to an understanding of this?"

"... I need to be able to take the responsibility to watch over their actions. This entire time you've been watching each of our moves and reading our next counter. To see if our teaming would falter in any way."

"Yes! Well said! A leader must not just tell what they team is doing but also pay attention to their team as well as their surroundings. Keep a close attention to who needs you and who you need in that moment. Which you did splendidly. You are worthy in my eye. Heheh. With that said"

I feel something suddenly grow in my head and pull itself out of my eyes. A smooth yellow crystal, much like the one in the statues chest. It was just as big too. It reverts to a powder suddenly and enters my eyes before I could blink and register what just happened. It felt like water just washed over my eyes.

"You'll get the stone once you return outside. Let's meet again once your awaken if fulfilled, lord of balance."

As soon as he says this I suddenly feel myself fall and everything goes dark.

Uh what??

You've been pushed into this space.

Malcolm! Hey what just happened?

You won a good fight and proved I made the right choice.

For what? Being a disciple? Which I didn't get a proper explanation for until just then?

Yes. Being a disciple means being a chosen king of a temple. Like the one you were just in.

So I'm just like that statue? That golden king?

Yes. You will be the obsidian king if you continue to improve.

Holy hell that's a lot to take in. That is one hell of a burden.

You have proven you are up to the task of staying mindful of who you chose to fight at your side. If only for a moment.

Okay then. He also said something about me being more important than the hero. What does that mean?

You were important to him alone. The hero had no business being there to begin with, but since he was partied with you, he was caught up in something made for you alone. I would say you were lucky to have them both there with you. It helped the process to move faster for you.

Oh. Well then lucky me. So Why me? I didn't expect to be this important in all of this.

I don't believe anyone did. Not even us gods. Yet here you are under the whims of lost gods that are in need of help.

but again why me? Why not the hero. Xyle was given more power and purpose at the start. He may not know much other than what they or the worshippers tell him but he has more qualifications than I do.

if I had chosen him first, you would have had a point. But if I must choose between the two of you I would still ask for you. Even if your roles were reversed.

thank you.

there will be a moment where you will need to choose to help and guide others, even if they don't want it from you. I will make sure you do. So be prepared for the inevitable, my disciple.

yes, sir. You can count on me for sure. I refuse to disappoint.

very well.

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

Meanwhile, Xyle and Mason held on to Tessa who had collapsed from fatigue. Xyle started panicking.

"WHOA! Tessa! Tessa!! What the hell happened to her!?" He says as his marks vanish around him and he loses strength in his body for a moment. "Uh oh boy."

"Don't worry. You two are fine." The statue says with a giddy tone. "Just a show of going past your limits. I'm impressed you're still conscious, young hero. She used way more than you did but most of her power went into you. That is trust at its finest. She must see something, even I don't see, in you."

"What?? Whoa oh my head."

"Well. In any case, good mercenary."

"Hm?"

"Do tell your contractor to have a more broader view of the child you hold. She may be what she is, but she is far more than he will ever comprehend alright?"

"Uh! Yeah. Sure."

"Also hand her that stone in you pocket when you leave and tell him she found it. It's only fair after all of this, don't you think."

"... Yeah. It is only fair."

"Then bye bye. Till next we meet, you two."

Xyle and Mason instantly find themselves at the entrance of the cave in the night. A camp light was lit at the end of the forest where the quest started. The follow the trail back while Xyle starts rambling about what he felt when Tessa made him awaken his marks. Mason listened to Xyle half relieved for some reason as he carried Tessa back in his arms.

Once at the camp, Maul and Brights greets them completely shocked at what they saw from the three. Xyle looked brights had more serious match with him. Mason has holes and broken chips in his armor with a black eye and blood drenched hair. Tessa, though slowly healing was completely unconscious in Mason's arms and barely breathing.

Xyle goes to brights and simply laughs as if everything was fine. He was used to that sort of reaction. He followed Brights to the camp and shows off his new weapon. Maul checks Tessa for any problems. He didn't want the Halliway family to yell at him for letting their favorite goblin get severely injured, even with her healing properties.

"I need to talk to you. And it's way more serious than just her being able to get into the guild." Mason mutters to Maul. Maul looks to him and sees the seriousness in his face.

"Alright. Let's get you two fixed up back at the guild then you'll tell me everything that happened."

°°°°°

At the guild, Maul tells Brights to send everyone that passed on their way. Once everyone left only Xyle stayed behind to talk to Brights.

"Wait Brights. Where's Tessa and Mason. Is she gonna be okay? She hadn't woken up since we got back."

"Don't worry I'm sure Maul is taking care of them with the yellow mages. You'll probably see them tomorrow if you come back."

"... Yeah. Okay. Thanks."

Xyle leaves and gets into a carriage that was stationed for him to return to the high section. He looks out the window as he leaves to the inn across the way where Maul was treating Mason and Tessa.

In the inn, Maul and Mason sat in a room with Tessa in the bed still out cold. They took note of her marks pulsing with her breath as her body continued to heal.

"Now." Maul says as he looks too Mason and gets his attention. "Tell what happened in there. I know for a fact their wasn't supposed to be anything this bad there aside from the other registered adventurers that want her out of the picture all together. But most of them were going through the hunters trial."

"Well, you're not gonna believe what im about to tell you so try not to break my other arm out of disbelief." Mason explains to Maul what he went through after running into Tessa at the exit. He explains how she found multiple secrets and rooms that were left undisturbed before the trials. He told him of the scripts that supposedly didn't exist and were only lore to the tales of the gods, then hands him the note she made telling him she even translated them. Finally he spoke of the battle they had with the golden statue in a secret underground room that resembled the golden king of Palitoh before the disappearance of the white church. He spoke of the conversations they had in detail. Including the message the statue had for him to Maul.

Maul looked at him in horror as he spoke of the unbelievable story he just heard from his hired hand. He couldn't say anything back to contradict it after knowing what she could do first hand from training with her. Now that he understands what goes on with her being. He realized that she was more than he could bring himself to believe. This only made him more curious about her abilities and courage as he thought long and hard about the message to him.

"... What do you think will happen to this world in the future? Mason?"

"... Whatever it may beThat one seems to be the greater impactor to the coming change. Let's just hope that change is for a greater good this time."

"Such is the hopes of many."

"Oh. It told me to return this for her." Mason takes out a stone from his pouch and hands it to Maul.

"Ah. Don't worry about it. After all of this that you've told me, it's not necessary. She's staying, without question. I have much I'd like to know from her as well I believe I also owe her an apology from today's eventOut of curiosity, where would you class her after all of that? In the adventurers ranks?"

"....honestly, I'd make hers a secret for security reasons. Who knows how many people would ride her ass for what I could class her."

"That high!?"

"Yup. I'd say just a class or two below the gold plates. Maybe a high grade silver plate."

"Okay, no exaggerations. I'll start her out as a middle bronze then since you can testify for her. With this as a reference and reason, I won't need to argue with the higher guild leaders for letting a goblin in the faction."

"So long as she continues to surpass expectations, I don't think that'll be the most of your worries."

"Yes well the biggest concern I have now is convincing her to keep it to herself as well. Knowing her household, no one would hear the end of it and it will cause all of us trouble. We shouldn't let her get into trouble just because she has a grand set."

"Then I'd say the lower iron would be the best place for her to start. With the knowledge of goblins as of late, the only thing that is actually hindering her is the stereotype that most of them are cowards. If she can get to this point without running from the trouble that faced her, then it's only logical thats where she'd go as a first-timer."

"... Alright. You have a point. They are strong despite their fears and they are well adapted to many things already. Alright, then she can be a lower iron in the D-ranks."

"What!?"

Maul and Mason jump in their seats and look to the bed to find Tessa awake.

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

I just woke up. And the first thing I hear isn't just being accepted,... But being placed in the D-ranks already! EEEEKK!!

Now to figure out what the fuck I just sounded like earlier. Did I squeal or squeak??

"... Halliway??" Maul calls me and I look to him excited and at the same time I couldn't believe what I heard. I can't say anything as I eagerly wait for him to repeat himself. Please let me hear right. Please don't let that be a waking dream.

"... Tessa." Damn you, Mason!

"Hm?!"

"Was that you just now?"

"... I'm pretty sure it" I gasp and cover my mouth. I sound like my old self. I sound like me again! I I look into my shirt immediately and ,without a care in the world, grab my chest and give my new softness a good squeeze. I realize I don't have my armor on anymore so I pull the large shirt I had on to the back as tight as possible to see the little mounds on my chest pushing against it and grab them over my shirt this time. They were real and they were mine again.

I feel a smile creep its way across my face.

"T-tessa???"

"Hm??" I took me a good minute to realize I was fondling myself in front of two guys OMFG!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!!!? I LITERALLY TURNED TWELVE FOR LIKE FIVE WHOLE MINUTES!! Why!!!? I dive under the blanket and scream internally.

"T-Tessa"

"Fucking what!? You've been calling me for five minute! What do you want!!? Gawd~..."

"S-sorry! Uh I wanted to ask if I could use appraisal on you. So I can match you properly for the classing in the guild."

I peek from under the blanket to think of what he was asking then sit up and hold the blanket over my body like a tent. "Sure. Go ahead."

He stares at me for a long while and I sit, nervously waiting for something to happen. He finally grabs a notepad from his pouch and writes something down. Then he hands it to Maul who eyeballs me weird before handing it back. Hey! I wanna see!

"... You are going to be the death of me one of these days." Maul says as he slouched in his seat with a hand on his brow. "Next question do you know what just happened to you this very moment?"

"You mean besides the fact that I physically became a girl?"

"... That too one of your blessings is full. Do you know which one?"

"... No?"

"It's one you haven't had before. The yellow one. You didn't have that blessing until recently and now you have it in full."

"... I don't know what to tell you."

"You don't have to tell me anything. Mason already told me the unbelievable tale of your current title."

"Eh~..."

"Lastly how much have you heard from our conversation?"

"Uh I get a rank up?"

"Very good. Yes. You get a rank up."

"Yay!!"

"And you will be placed in the lower iron. A D-rank."

"Eee~!!!"

"But you MUST keep this to yourself. All of this. Nothing we have spoken of shall leave this room, is that clear?"

"I can at least tell the family I'm in the guild, right?"

"Yes. But that's all."

"Okay." *internal squealing*.

"You'll be getting you plates tomorrow when you come in. You can start your ventures whenever you're ready congratulations, miss Halliway. And welcome to the guild faction."

I jump out of bed and bounce around like a dancing puppy. I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!! OMG!! I don't believe it!! This feels like I just got accepted into my top college with just scholarships! Yes!!

I know they're watching me look like a five year old that's high on sugar right now, but I do not care! I'm a guild member, bitches! FUCK you all and you stupid stereotypes! Hah!

"Tessa sit down, girl!" I hear Maul shout and I plop my overly happy ass on the bed and try my damned to hold still. I can feel the breeze on my cheeks from my ears flailing. "... Pfft!! Hehehe! I can't. I can't do it. Mason you deal with Whatever that is that's happening right now. Hee hehe no~ ."

Mason sighs at Maul and gives me the guild band. "Make sure you come back with this tomorrow. You'll be officially admitted and sent off on your first quest."

"What? Already?"

"It's a personal one from me. If you don't mind."

"Nope. Don't mind at all."

"... You shouldn't be too trusting of people."

"At the moment I can trust you, until you have no need for me anymore. am I right?"

"... You're sharp. I'll give you that." Mason leaves the room and my ears finally stop flapping for a moment. Maul finally stopped giggling and takes a breath.

"Well, now that that's settled. I have one last thing to say to you before sending you home."

"And what's that?"

"... I would like to sincerely apologize to you for the things I said before you started this test. I shouldn't have provoked you in such a way but my patients and curiosity got the better of me. I didn't understand how painful that must have been to hear from someone like myself. Being as you are a goblin. Saying such things would be like adding fuel to a fire that was already spreading in a forest. I hope you can forgive me for doing so."

"... Yeah Thank you."

"... Now go on home. You should get some rest."

"Yup thank you for everything, mr. Maul."

"... Of course."

Maul leaves and I get ready to go myself.
