My name is Tessa. I'm a sixteen year old high school girl, yet somehow... I became a goblin.
Some time before...
In a small classroom filled with all kinds of students. A group for every student, but one. I'm sitting at my desk alone as per usual without a group to associate with.
I'm often made the target of bullying by most of my peers. One in particular constantly makes me his go to for every dumb thing. His name is Xyle. A simple punk that was a bit of an odd ball even in his own group, but he is still acknowledged as one of them. He has good grades, good sportsmanship, and good looks. I have those things too... Except for the good looks part. He always calls me little goblin. Well, feature-wise, he's not wrong. I have a pudgy face, untamable hair, and night eyes with tiny irises. At least my nose is normal, but that's about it.
Late in the day, the class is left empty except for me, who always stayed behind so I can study without the awkward loneliness of going home by myself. I wasn't alone however, when the door opens as Xyle enters the room with a bored expression on his face until he noticed me still by my seat. With a devious smirk on his face, he sneaks up on me to scare me when a bell separate from the usual school chimes rang through the room, scaring both of us followed by a blindingly bright light.
I soon hear preppy voices above me. I open my eyes and see five floating figures snickering and bickering to each other. They were talking about Xyle. I look around and see him floating next to me unconscious. The figures where saying a lot of things about him looking the part of a good hero without the punk clothes. I'll admit, he did look good without his usual get up when they stripped him and put him in some medieval light weight armor. They even gave him a dagger. Lucky him.
Soon he's sent off somewhere below us. I can now see that we were floating in the damn clouds! Oh god what are they gonna do to me?! Send me with him? I hope I don't get made into the healer or something weak like that. But I don't hear them mention anything of the sort. I'm not even mentioned with the word "hero" like Xyle was. I just feel myself falling as the five figures dissipate into nothing. Then it's suddenly dark.
Ow... My head feels like I got rocks in it.
I feel my head and notice all my hair is gone first. Of course, I panic a little. Thinking it was probably a bad prank or something. I look around and see that I'm surrounded by trees, then spot a water hole. I stagger to it like I was at a party and my drink got spiked. Heavily. I got double vision so I wash my face off and clean up a little to relax my nerves. It didn't help once I could see my reflection clearly.
*screech*!!!?
I'm an ugly green little goblin.
OMG OMG OMG OH MY GAWD!!! NOO! What what is this!? What happened to me?! Why am I a goblin!? This can't be happening. Wake up. Wake up! Wake up!!
*rrraagh!*
Oh gawd! Is that my voice. Ew!! Jesus Christ, what am I gonna do? What do I do?!
After a moment of silence, something starts creeping in the bushes and trees behind me. I'm terrified and try to think.
Oh no. Think. Think. What's a usual goblin have? Well, one is clothes at least, but... Am I a guy!? I'm flatter than usual! What... Wait. No. Nothing below... Nothing at all. What? What kind of goblin am I!? I don't even have a gender! Let alone clothes! No weapons. No knowledge... Nothing. I have absolutely NOTHING.... I'm gonna die like this and there's nothing I can do about it!
The sound from earlier snaps me back to reality. When I look to see what came out of the trees, it was a little cat... Thing?Â
Wait. Is that a saber tooth kitten? If that's near then... Aren't I near a pack of big cats?
Low and behold, three adults arrive behind the kitten, who meows loudly at me followed by an even louder purr.Â
Aww. How cute... I better leave. This is probably theirs anyway.
Before I got the chance to stand, one of the adults start sniffing me out. It had a large scar on its chin and a darker fur draped over its back. I'm so scared I can't move. The adult sniffs me all over. Some spots tickled and it took a lot of nerves not to cringe from laughing. As soon as the adult finished, it pulls the dark fur off its back and drops it In front of me, then wonders past me with the others to the water hole.
I am so grateful, yet even more pitiful.
I soon feel a paw pat my leg. I scratch its ear and sit by a tree, letting the fur I got cover me. It was like a cozy blanket. At least I got something warm to sleep with once night falls.
Some time passes and the wild cats take me to a hole under a nearby mountain. It was big enough for just one wild cat so I figured they were just showing me a good resting place. Before I crawl in, I turn around and notice the beasts were gone. I don't think about it and go inside the hole for the night. I don't get much sleep though. As I sleep, I hear a monotone voice calling to me. I recognize it, but from where?
I'm sorry. It tells me. You were given such an unfortunate start and I couldn't help. I'm truly sorry. I will give you my blessing, knowledge and charm so you may live in this world freely and in peace.
I feel a tingle creep from my head all the way to my toes like a frosty chill and wake up from the strangely comfortable feeling and sit up to see it's still dark outside. The moon was just over the horizon, large, bright, and full. Not even the trees could hide it from me. A light suddenly catches my attention from inside the hole. I look to find magic on the back walls that looked like music notes.
I touch it and it pops like a bubble. Weird. Ugh! Forget it I'm tired. Your forgiven, whomever you are. Imma sleep now.
