Now that I've gotten myself settled, thanks to the Halliway family, I now have my own place in the lower sect of the city. That being a room of my own in the Halliway estate. At the moment, about a month passed since my meet and greet with Mr. Halliway and he said I would be given a formal acceptance later on.
In the meantime, I was supposed to go out to get my guild registry and gear from the armory, but…
Why the hell are we shopping for clothes when i'm the only one that has absolutely no feminine appeal and mostly masculine charm? Because Vanessa thought we should at least try to find something for me, but alas, her efforts were in vain.
The attendants at the shop has been taking us to the mens section nonstop while Vanessa kept complaining that I need something cute. Though I understand why she's so persistent, I find her attempts to make me at least look like a girl completely pointless. I am a girl, that's for damn sure, but...
"There is just absolutely no way for Tessa to even resemble a girl even if you doll her up! She just too handsome!" Barks Christa. A bit over the top, but I agree.
...Handsome?!
"Grrr. Dammit all to hell! Fine we'll look for something more appealing to you features since nothing in the girls segment seems to work for you at all." Vanessa grumbles. She was not happy with this outcome.
I don't see why we're in such a rush to get me something to wear. I just need to go to an armory for gear to hunt and scavenge.
"... Hey, Vanessa." I want to ask her why we are here instead of the adventurers guild down the road.
"Eek! Don't call me so suddenly with that amazing voice of yours!" I guess she's still hooked on my singing from awhile ago.
"... Right. Could you tell me why were in the glamour shop instead of the guild or armory?" I say ignoring her bashfulness. I'm not gonna get use to that but at least I can ignore it for the most part.
"Your formal acceptance is in a few days, you! We need you to be presentable for that before anything else!" Vanessa insists. Oh right. That thing. "We need you to look your finest first and foremost at post haste! Christa! Go look over there for something nice! And makes sure its not too manly, got it!"
"Yes madam!" Christa dashes off to another section of the room to see what she could find. I decide to take a seat nearby and watch them flail about with the attendant assisting us.
I look around and notice very few goblins in here and most are helping their people find clothes, unlike us who are being the other way around. It was a bit unnerving since most of the people are staring at me and the goblins are conversing among themselves while sneaking glances at me. All the goblins that were here were obviously girls too, being well endowed despite having no hair. They were actually pretty now that I see more of them at my stature. A small group of them look at me and I smile at them so I don't give them some weird impression of me, but I don't think it helped since they turn tail instantly with flailing ears.
Our ears wiggle? Like elf ears? Huh. Now I want to try and see if I can make mine wiggle.
I look ahead and see myself in a standing mirror in the distance. I decide to give the ear wiggle a try out of boredom and they start twitching and bouncing like a cat's ear being touched. It's kind of fun to see. I can make them wiggle at different times too.
"What are you looking at to make your ears go nuts?" Vanessa suddenly calls to me from one of the racks.
"Huh!? Oh nothing. I just wanted to see if I could control it. I'm a bit bored sitting here to be honest." I admit. She looks to the mirror that was ahead of me and gives a face of 'ah. That's funny.' Then goes back to looking at the clothes. I scan the room again slightly embarrassed and notice an outfit hanging on display in the young boys area. It was a cute and simple three piece suite in a navy blue and light grey color combo.
I stand and go to get a better look at it as I take it off the hook it hung from. I could probably add stockings to it to make it seem more girlish with a pair of flats or boots.
"Vanessa." I call.
"I told you not to call me like that, geez!" Ignoring the purposeful cuteness.
"Will something like this be okay? For the formal?"
"Huh?" She looks at the outfit as I hold it out for her to see. "... Why didn't I think of that before. Of course shorts would be an excellent idea! It's neither masculine or feminine and it's all around cute! Well done, Tessa! You actually have amazing taste!" Hey now. "Come on hurry and try it on!"
"Its too small!"
"Oh right. Tenent! I need a few different styles like this one in this goblins size!"
"Yes. Ma'am. Just a moment." She take the suit from me and looks around the boys and teens clothing and comes back with a few other outfits in a similar set for my size. How convenient. "Here you are. I think this one would look absolutely handsome on you."
"Thank you." I say ignoring that word again. I go to change with some help from the attendant and look in the standing mirror. It pretty much complimented my current figure and look. I don't look like a girl but I don't seem guy-ish either. Simply professional. I smile at the idea and look to Vanessa. "I like this look." I tell her. "This can be for all our formal and semi-formal occasions. Yeah?"
"... As expected you look absolutely splendid!" She agrees. "So which one will you wear for the formal acceptance?"
"Hmm~..." I look at the rest and see them all in different colors of the rainbow. Eve pink. I then see a simple vest and shirt set under the bombardment of other outfits and pull it out to look at it better. It was better than the blue one Iwas wearing. "This one!"
"Oh! Good choice." The attendant says to me.
I told Vanessa that I would rather just get two or three suits, but she insisted on all of them. Despite all of those clothes and fancy suits, it didn't cost as much as I thought I would. Only one gold for everything. I also got some thigh high stocking and a pair of heeled sandals and a pair of dress boots from the girls section which threw the rest of the room into a loop as they watch us leave.
On the way out, a woman trips right in front of me and I somehow bump into her and she drops her hat. She is dressed in so much white that I almost thought she was glowing. "Ow! Watch it, goblin!" She snarls. wow. I can't even begin to describe how much I want to call her out after I just watched her trip over her own clothes. So I will.
"I'm sorry I was under the impression you needed help after stepping on your cloak, miss mage." I retort as 'gentlemanly' as possible to hide my sarcasm. As expected she blushes the moment I say so and I could tell her mistake was only half the reason. "I hope you're okay." I continue.
"...!! I-I'm fine!" She stammers as she straightens her stance and walks on. Yeah, fuck you too, miss bitch.
"Tessa! Tessa!" Vanessa suddenly calls to me in a whisper. "Do you realize who that was!?"
"Hm?"
"That was Dressrosa Baltess!! The famous royal mage! It's said she holds the greatest power in all of Tressos! The high tower in the center of the city! And! And! Even greater! She's the chosen mage of heroes! And she's even engaged to the son of the most wealthiest of nobles, the eldest son of the Campbell House, Ramisus Campbell!" Wow, is she ever fan-girling. "And you just spoke to her! And touched her! Eeeeek!!"
"Christ, girl, relax. I get it. I somehow stepped into the forbidden garden."
"What's amazing is that you decided to let out that manly charm you have to quell her infamous raging fury of hate for goblins." Christa adds. "I'm surprised she didn't snap at you and curse you the moment you spoke to her."
"T-That's right! OHMYGOD Tessa! You must be the luckiest goblin in the entire cosmos!... But well, that's as expected of my new sister! Haa haha!" And now Vanessa is gloating. Yeah I definitely dug my own grave with that one. At least it got me out of trouble though. Although, really, what the hell is someone from the high end doing in the middle? As I think this while we leave the shop, I notice a familiar silhouette at the corner of my eye standing against the wall of the shop talking to someone in front of a carriage.
To my horror, it was the one person I didn't want to see me like this. The one that never seems to stop being praised for his attributes. The one I can't seem to stand being compared to or even be noticed by. Xyle. Still the charming, highly loved simple punk. Only this time he's in some crazy heavy looking armor with a big ass sword hanging from his back. His eyes meet mine and he looks to me like he was confused and stops talking to his new comrades all together.
