Chapter 11 - Regrets and Uninterested

DREAM

Retter is at the outdoor market, the barracks ran out of medical equipment so they sent him to retrieve some from the market.

"hmph... Dummkopfs, constantly getting themselves injured because they're so reckless," He muttered. Frieda is with her cousin, also acquiring supplies. She was carrying a basket of granny smith apples and her cousin is checking out the beauty section. While she is looking around she spots Retter at the outdoor apothecary.

"Retter!" she shouted, walking towards him. Retter heard someone shout his name and was ready to lash out at whoever it was, But It was Frieda. His mood instantly went from angry to calm. There was something about Frieda that made him feel at peace, perhaps it was her cheerful personality or her friendly character.

"Retter, it's rare seeing you out and about here of all places, what's going on?" Frieda asked. Retter gazed at her and noticed she was wearing an apron with gold lining over her slightly torn cotton candy dress.

"Oh, du vaisen, the other Knights are reckless, so they sent me to get some medical supplies. was ist mit dir?" He returned.

"I'm here with mein cousin to get a few things," Frieda answered. She remembered that Retter hated going to crowded places due to all the noise and physical contact with strangers.

"Oh... you look pretty in that apron, it makes you look noble," Retter complimented while blushing. Frieda also blushed.

"D-Danke, it belonged to my mother, so I thought I wear it," She explained.

"I'm guessing you're planning on baking something," Retter asked.

"How can you tell?" Frieda asked.

"The apron and you're holding a basket of granny smith Appfels, which are the best to use for baking," Retter smirked. Frieda awkwardly chuckled. Retter pulled something out of his pocket and handed it to Frieda.

"I... I saw this and thought of you... There weren't any yellows ones so I went with red," Retter looked away Blushing. Frieda's face was completely flushed, Retter was giving her a red rose.

(He loves me?!) She thought. While she wasn't looking Retter put it in her hair. Suddenly, the romantic moment was interrupted by a loud screech.

"FRIEDA! WHERE ARE YOU?" It said. It was her dirty-blond-haired cousin Mia, with her hair in a bun, stomping towards her.

"What are you doing? I want to get a move on, there's a Boutique I want to go to!" Mia complained.

"I-I'm sorry, I got distracted!" Frieda put her hands up.

"Distracted? You always get distracted! This is why dad made..." Mia suddenly stopped her words when she saw Retter in his trainee Tunic. His dark spiky black hair flowed with the wind and his piercing blood-red eyes stared straight into your soul.

"Oh... Uh... Hallo hübscher, I'm Mia, next head Dame and likely to be future Queen," Mia flirted, Latching onto his arm. Retter was completely offended by this woman, Mia was brushing her fingers on his chest and waving her green skirt. Frieda gasped and Retter was trying hard to not insult this woman.

"Fas mich nicht an..." He whispered.

"Are you one of the Trainee knights? I've never seen you before in the mess hall," Mia cooed, fluttering her honey brown eyes.

"Ja, I don't like crowds," He monotonously answered, frowning at her.

"Oh, well that explains it, I don't go to the barracks much, except for when my dad hosts the banquets," she continued talking, Retter has had enough.

"Den Mund halten!" He growled. This time, Mia gasped.

"Weg von mir!" He ordered.

"Huh?" Mia spoke.

"Nunmehr!" He exploded. Mia stumbled back, shocked. Retter was giving off an ominous atmosphere, scaring the other villagers. (Except Frieda) His piercing blood-red eyes glaring at Mia.

"Why... I... Um... Vergiss es! Let's go, Frieda! I need some more makeup for the Banquet tonight!" Mia stormed off. Retter soon calmed down as Mia disappeared into the crowd.

"I-I'm so sorry about my cousin, she-"

"Nein, don't apologize, I'm not angry at you," Retter smiled, Frieda smiled back.

"FRIEDA!" Mia yelled

"I should go," Frieda sighed.

"It's fine, I'll see you soon," Retter said.

"Ja, See you soon," Frieda said, waving goodbye. When Frieda left, Retter went back to his stoic self, scaring the villagers.

"Wo schaust du hin?" He asked, menacingly. They stopped staring and immediately went back to what they were doing. Retter headed back to the Barracks, scowling at the other people. He hated them, as a child, they treated him like he was evil. His father was supposedly evil and Retter's red eyes made them think he was a demon. Now Retter is older and stronger (Man has abs and biceps, he's ripped!) He also training to be a Knight so if he wanted, Retter could kill them.

"Luna?"

"Lulu, wake up!"

"Kiddo, c'mon, your mom made orange cinnamon rolls,"

"WOOOOWOOO!!!"

"Agh! I'm awake!" Luna violently sat up with Banjo's woo-woo.

"wha... what happened?" Luna asked panting, realizing she's on her bed. She didn't remember going home.

"That's what we wanna know," Blaze stated.

"Your friend dropped you off, he said you fell asleep during the movie but there's a weird mark on your chest, under your clavicle," Gerhardt said. Blaze pulled down Luna's shirt to get a closer examination.

"It kinda looks like a tick bite," Blaze said.

"Ticks usually bite in warm moist places, Like the groin, or armpits," Nyx explained.

"Flea?" Gerhardt suggested, Blaze glowered at Banjo making him whimper.

"Y'know fleas can't survive in Banjo's fur," Nyx dismissed. Blaze slightly tapped the bite.

"How does it feel?" She asked.

"Tender..." Luna said, tiredly.

"How do you feel?" Nyx asked.

"Tired," Luna answered.

"you're probably anemic, moon," Gerhardt suggested. He is a hematologist so he should know.

"You should rest up, sweetie," Blaze said. Soon both parents left the room.

"Alright kiddo, what really happened last night?" Nyx asked.

"Eh?" Luna looked at her great-aunt.

"That bite is too big to be from a bug, so either it was bat or vampire," Nyx said.

"How can you tell?" Luna asked. she didn't remember much about last night.

"My psycho ex is a vamp, so I had quite a bit of bites on me throughout my life; not hickeys," Nyx explained.

"Naja... it's kinda fuzzy, I remembered I fell and scraped my knee, then Ronnie was having an asthma attack," Luna explained. She lifted the blanket and saw that her knee was already bandaged up.

"G wrapped it up last night when your "friend" brought you home," Nyx explained.

Meanwhile!

Ronnie is in his coffin-shaped bed, feeling guilty.

"I... I didn't mean to hurt her, I-I just couldn't control myself... Her scent... It's too strong," Ronnie frantically talked. He was on his bed, covered in his dark grey blanket.

"Oi, Brat!" Xavier barged into his room.

"Chert poberi, Xavier! I told you to knock!" Ronnie growled, sitting up.

"And I told you: I'm not an old-fashioned vampire. I won't die if I break into your room," Xavier replied.

"I wish you would..." Ronnie muttered, laying back down.

"Seychas, what has you acting all emo? Going through another phase, or is your new girlfriend mad at you?" Xavier teased, sitting on the side of the bed.

"I'm not Emo! and she's still acting stubborn," Ronnie pouted.

"It's just... last night, I... I bit her, but I didn't want-" Ronnie was interrupted by Xavier clapping.

"Congrats, brat! You're no longer a virgin!" He congratulated.

"What? I'm 14!" Ronnie blushed, sitting up once again, confused about what Xavier is talking about.

"Your teeth aren't virgins anymore, I should say. You finally had your first bite, and on a girl," Xavier chirped.

"How is that a good thing? I didn't mean to, she fell down then her scent was strong. It was hard to resist!" Ronnie thundered, explaining himself.

"Don't worry about it! She probably won't remember," Xavier shrugged, attempting to comfort Ronnie... in his weird ways.

"But all that aside, how did she taste? what did she smell like? Was she sweet? tangy?" Xavier asked, getting closer to him.

"She was... sweet... and smelled, amazing," Ronnie said, softly smiling at the memory.

"So... can I have a taste?" Xavier requested, his eyes widening in excitement.

"No! that's creepy!" Ronnie shouted, shoving his blanket off.

"I'm a vampire/demon, so I will be creepy," Xavier commented.

"I still say no! She's 13, you're 17," He refused.

"Age is just a number, brat." Xavier dismissed.

"And a knife is just an object," Ronnie replied.
