At least, that is what she thought had happened.
"He was so excited when you emailed him."
The man was kind, with rosy cheeks.
He looked like a man who wouldn't hurt a fly.
His face and expression was soft.
When he said that, lots of thoughts came to mind on how he knew that his son was excited about her Email.
Did his son tell him immediately about the email?
Did he find out on his own without his son's words?
Did he notice by face expressions and behaviors?
Lots of thoughts.
"How is he-anyway?"
She was asking out of curiosity. She hasn't seen Nic in about two years. He was probably different now, alot might have happened in those years she hasn't seen him.
The man smiled kindly.
"You can ask him yourself."
Her whole body shivered.
She was shocked.
He's here?
"Wha-Wha?"
She then saw a tall, blonde figure coming from around the corner holding a plastic cup with a big blue straw, with some kind of colorful drink. At the bottom of this drink, was many small, colorful spheres. He was walking with a woman in about her twenties or thirties. She had blonde hair like him and looked similar to him.
For a moment, Lee forgot who he was and thought he was someone else, or thought he was a random blonde boy she saw often.
It was hard to believe he was real, if it was Nic.
He finally focused his vision on her and looked dumbfounded and ackward. This was strange to see her standing with his father.
"Lee. Hey."
"Hello, Nic. It's been a while."
She was nervous, she couldn't believe he was standing there. She took a small breath, and calmed down. He definitely changed. He looked different from last time she saw him.
He was taller and looked older.
"I didn't know you drank Boba."
She tried to start conversation.
The crickets were heard and there was a long tention. No one spoke.
After much silence he broke the quietness.
"I come here reguarly."
He was calm and a smile started to form on his face.
"My brother is in a class over there."
She then pointed to the direction.
"While he was in his class, my mom and I thought we would look around, when we bumped into your dad, and then, you and your mom."
There was then a thump sound.
Both of them stopped looking at the other and looked at their mothers hugging and laughing. They came out of their hug. "You guys wanna hangout with us?" Nic's mom asked with a grin.
"Sorry, my son will be done with his class soon.
We got to go pick him up, but we will see you guys later."
The two kids then parted ways and said goodbye, one going in one direction and the other in the other direction. Lee looked at him once more and then saw them get into their white car, and drive off.
