Chapter 38 - Chapter 38

(After being sent to another memory by Chaos, Kate wakes up to find herself in an unknown village that seems to be deep within the woods. As she tries to gather herself, some of the villagers enter the village carrying a young man. While this happens, this gets the Village's Elder Junera's attention as they bring the unconscious man to one of their specialists to check upon him.)

Junera: What's the meaning of this? Just who is this?

Rebekah: I found him alongside the Great Oni River when I went to hunting for fish. I do not know how long he's been there.

Junera: And your first choice was to bring him here, child? We do not allow visitors in our village, you know this Rebekah.

Rebekah: I know I know, but I couldn't just leave him there. I had to help him. It was the right thing to do.

(Knowing what Rebekah is saying is morally correct, Junera sighs as she gives her approval in letting the man be treated. As this is happening, Kate walks over to there position just as their specialist is removing the man's wet shirt revealing marks on both shoulders which looks like streaks of lighting which can only be obtained if struck by lightning. Upon this discovery, Kate immediately realizes that it was Dante that they pulled from the river.)

Kate: Oh my god...This must be after...

(Now fully realizing what's taken place before her eyes, she comes to the conclusion that this took place weeks after Mason had ordered Dante's execution. She then burst with tears, unable to stop.)

Kate: My dear boy.....Oh, how I wish I could have prevented this. I could've never comprehended just what happened to you.

(As Kate says this, she hears an ever-fading voice.)

"Do not lose sight of why you're here. You cannot succumb to him."

(Upon hearing this, she looks around in search of who's voice she heard, but alas she fails. Next, within the memory, a month goes by as Dante finally awakes since being brought to the village. As he sits up, he immediately greeted by Rebekah.)

Rebekah: You're finally awake. I started to think you'd never wake up again.

(As Rebekah says this, Dante looks at his hands and then touches his face.)

Dante: Am I alive?

Rebekah: Yes. Of course, you are.

Dante: Are you really real? Is any of this real?

Rebekah: Everything you see is real. You are alive...I..I'm afraid I don't know your name. Do you remember your name?

Dante: It's Dante.

Rebekah: Well Dante, I'm Rebekah and you're currently in the Inadu Village within the Inadu Forest.

Dante: I'm way out here? Just how did I get here?

Rebekah: You were drifting in the Great Oni River. Our doctor said that you've must've been in there for weeks. I was the one who found you and brought you here.

(Dante then looks at Rebekah and grabs her hand.)

Dante: Thank you for saving my life, Rebekah. I am eternally in your debt.

Rebekah: Don't worry about it, Dante. I'm just glad you survived whatever caused you to end up in the river. Do you happen to remember what happened?

(As Rebekah asks this, Dante sees flashes of what happened. He then remembers a moment while in and out of consciousness, being held by Mason and then being thrown into the Great Oni River off a cliff.)

Dante: I was struck by lightning. That's what happened.

(As Dante says this, Kate who's been watching & listening, suddenly sees a dark figure completely made of darkness stalking from the bushes. As she runs towards the bushes, the ghastly figure is nowhere to be found until she turns around and the mysterious being reappears in front of her and with quick succession puts his hand on Kate's head transporting her to a place filled with nothingness and darkness. It's here when she begins to hear that voice again.)

"Do not fret, I will get you out of this darkness. All you have to do is reach for the light."

(Then out of nowhere a speck of light appears in front of Kate and she quickly grabs hold of it. Accomplishing this, then pulls her out of the darkness into a pocket dimension designed as a colorful forest where the sky resembles deep outer space. It is here where she is suddenly greeted by none other than Karasu in his human form.)

Kate: Where am I?

Karasu: There is no need to fear. You are safe here. I pulled you out of the darkness and brought you here, a pocket dimension that I created.

Kate: You mean to tell me that I'm in a space between dimensions?

Karasu: Correct. I can see where Dante gets his intelligence from.

Kate: Excuse my manners, but who are you?

Karasu: My name is Karasu. I am what you call a Yatagarasu.

Kate: You're the Divine Crow who prevents Divine Intervention. How are you here?

Karasu: That is a simple question. I am mentally bonded to your son, Dante. As you just learned not too long ago, he fights the same battle I do. Thus making him a prime candidate for me to bond with. You may know my previous companion, Lenneth.

Kate: Do you know what's going on right now?

Karasu: Yes. I am well aware of what's taking place. You see since Dante has been infected with Chaos, we've been trying to fight it off, but it is too powerful even for me, I must admit. But with your help, I believe that we can suppress Chaos, therefore, giving Dante back absolute control of his mind.

Kate: And how do we do that?

Karasu: Another simple answer. We use the very same spell you used to seal away Dante's powers, except this time you're going to seal it in the deepest part of his being.

Kate: Forgive me, but that doesn't sound like a real solution. We are only sealing it, can we not remove it?

Karasu: Given the current circumstances, we cannot. To do that would require Dante to have full access to his subconsciousness. Dante has tried several times to gain access to it, but Chaos stopped him every time he got close. So tell me, Kate. Do you think you can do this?

Kate: I can and I will. However, it takes a great deal of magic to cast that spell, let alone that we're trying to seal up the chaos within him.

Karasu: You forget that you aren't alone. I will aid you in this by bestowing upon you a fraction of my divinity. That alone should fuel you with more than enough power and protect you while you cast your spell. Now then, I believe we should get going. We do not have a lot of time left. The longer both of you remain unconscious, Chaos gains more control.

Kate: I'm ready.

Karasu: Back into the void we go.

(As Karasu says this, he claps and unexpectedly they are back within nothingness. Once there, Kate begins her spell while Karasu places his hand on her shoulder transferring massive amounts of power into her.)

Karasu: You must keep a clear and open mind. Feel the divinity flow within you, take every single ounce of it and release it!

(Just as Karasu says this, Kate suddenly burst with extraordinary power. This then causing Chaos to awake as out of nowhere large eyes open up. Chaos then tries to disrupt Kate and her spell, but the mere touch of her gives it a tremendous amount of pain.)

Karasu: Good. The transference of my divinity seems to work. Now then, when you're ready, fire your spell.

Kate: It's ready!

Karasu: Release it now!

(Upon Karasu's request, Kate slams her hand into the ground releasing an enormous magical sigil laced with Karasu's Divine essence. This causes Chaos to roar with intense force prompting Kate and Karasu to create a protective perfect cube.)

Chaos: Do you truly believe that this will stop me? Your boy is as good as mine. It's only a matter of time before I take control.

(After this, Chaos fades away.)

Karasu: I will admit, I am very impressed. Never I have I thought that I'd ever partner up with the Scarlet Sorceress. Excellent work, Kate. Best of luck with the impending battle, I'm sure you will do just fine.

(And just as Karasu finishes, Kate suddenly wakes up in Dante's cell. She then looks over at Dante and notices that he's still unconscious.)

Kate: Dante? Dante, open your eyes!

(After hearing his mother's voice Dante then comes to.)

Dante: It's...It's gone. The voices, I don't hear them anymore. Just what happened while I was out?

Kate: I met your friend, Karasu.

Dante: What?

Kate: He snatched me out of the depths in your mind and helped me seal the chaos.

Dante: Sealed? So it's still within me?

Kate: Yes for the time being. He did reveal how to truly get rid of it though. I'm sure since your minds are linked, that he's conveyed it to you as well.

Dante: He has.

(As Dante says this, the guards arrive at Dante's cell.)

Guard: Your Highness.

Kate: What is it?

Guard: The King requests your presence.

Kate: Tell him that I'm preoccupied at the moment.

Guard: I'm afraid it's urgent, your Majesty. The Four Kingdom Regional Council have arrived. They are currently awaiting your arrival in the conference chambers.

Kate: I see. I must be on my way, Dante.

Dante: Go on, mother.

(As Kate opens up a portal, Dante stands up.)

Dante: Before you go...Thank you. Hopefully, there's a chance that you can now prove my innocence after all.

(As Dante says this, Kate nods as she walks through the portal. After this and the guards leave, Dante sits back down. While this happens, a crow flies in and sits on his shoulder.)

Dante: Did you complete it?

(The crow caws)

Dante: Excellent. It's only a matter of time now. Just a few more moments and then the fun begins.

(As Dante says this, he lets off a devilish grin. Meanwhile, on the edge of a cliff, Mikael stands there patiently.)

Mikael: Did you bring it?

(A man with a hood covering his face approaches.)

Hooded Man: Is our deal still valid?

(The Hooded man says as he hands Mikael a box in which he then opens.)

Mikael: For this gracious gift? It is. Great to do business with you, friend. Tell your father that the deal still stands.

(The hooded man nods, the vanishes as Mikael continues to look forward.)
