(Back over by Crow's Perch, on the training mountains, Lenneth offers her hand, helping Dante back up to his feet.)
Lenneth: If you could follow me. There is something I think I will need your assistance with.
Dante: If it is yet another one of your hunts, I'm afraid that it'll have to wait. I want to know more about the Black Crow.
Lenneth: It's dealing with my daughter Eden and if I can recall correctly, once upon a time you cared deeply for her.
Dante: And despite the fact that we have history, you are aware that I haven't seen her years. Has something happened to her?
Lenneth: No, but if she continues on with her the path she has chosen, she could find herself in deep trouble.
Dante: Talk.
Lenneth: Follow me to my study. I will explain everything in detail there.
(As Lenneth says this, they begin to make their way to Lenneth's study. As they do this, over in the Lockheart Kingdom, Stephen walks towards the door of the palace.)
Mason: A word Stephen?
Stephen: Not now father. I do not wish to talk to you. Now if you will excuse me, I'll be on my way.
Mason: You hate me.
(As Mason says this, Stephen turns around.)
Stephen: He was my brother. It doesn't matter if he was your son or not, Dante was my brother! He was a part of our family and you drove him away over suspicion of what you thought he would become. But I guess it doesn't matter now, does it? You've made him into the thing you thought he was destined to be and now he's coming after you. You have no one to blame for this, but yourself.
Mason: So what if Dante has the chance to take my life. Will you just stand there idly by or will you protect your family?
Stephen: Do not wait up for me. I'll be helping my mother rebuild the damage caused by the fight.
(As Stephen says this, he leaves. Meanwhile, back over at Crow's Perch, Dante and Lenneth enter her study. Once there, Lenneth takes a sit.)
Dante: So just what is Eden going up against?
Lenneth: Not a what, but who. Have you ever heard of an organization called The Order of Amatsu?
Dante: The Order of Amatsu?
Lenneth: I had thought not. The Order of Amatsu is a secret cult that worships the Chaos God, Amatsu Mikaboshi. An ancient being who lives and feeds off of chaos. This organization resides within the shadows, manipulating things behind the scenes. It is said that they had existed longer than most kingdoms.
Dante: And just what is their goal?
Lenneth: They wish to collect the pieces of the Divine Key to break the seal that divides us from the Divine Realm. They wish to bring back the Gods to our world slay them, throwing our world into chaos. And that chaos will feed Amatsu, resurrecting him.
Dante: Well I must say for a secret organization, you sure do know a lot about them. What's your problem with them?
Lenneth: The Order of Amatsu goes against this very establishment. This place, the Yatagarasu Temple was created to prevent Divine Interference. Meaning anyone who threatens to make contact with the Gods in any way must be dealt with. Since you've known me, you've probably thought that every mission that I've sent you on, every assassination were random, but I assure you they weren't. Each person that I've had you kill were either a member of the Amatsu or an Amatsu Worshiper.
Dante: So this whole time we've been fighting a secret war?
Lenneth: Indeed so. To the outside world, we are mass murderers, assassins with no remorse, but in hindsight, we are the ones who are keeping the balance. Knowing this and fighting this endless war, this is the burden of being The Black Crow.
Dante: I see. So Eden is involved with them somehow?
Lenneth: Not yet, but I fear she will come into contact with them soon enough.
Dante: Do you know where she is?
Lenneth: I do not. You must see an old friend of mine in the Grand City of Onfroy. Her name is Kura Hata. She has a very unique tracking ability. You will find Eden's location through her.
Dante: I believe I've had the pleasure of witnessing said ability.
Lenneth: You have?
Dante: I'm sure you've heard of the skirmish I had in New Dawn City.
Lenneth: I see.
Dante: He was a member of Ragnarock. His name is Rei. He was the one who lead them to me. It should've been impossible as I've been cloaked many times over with Kitara's magic.
Lenneth: Mmm...He could've had an orb that amplifies his eyesight. It is how Kura is able to see at such a far range.
Dante: I don't think it was an orb he used. His eyes glowed when he saw me.
Lenneth: They glowed you say? Then he must be using a forbidden tool within his clan called the Ocular Lens. They increase their sight on an unimaginable scale. When you come across him again you must either destroy his lens or take away his eyes. If he can track you, then what's stopping him from finding other Crows.
Dante: Don't worry about him. I'll have his head soon enough, but before I go, I have a question to ask you.
Lenneth: What is it?
Dante: How did you get involved in this? Becoming the Black Crow?
Lenneth: When I was younger, my mother left me and brother with our father and never returned. She didn't say anything, she just disappeared without a trace. At the time I blame my father because I thought it was his fault, but one day he told me that I would understand. So when my brother and I were old enough we traveled out here to find her. We had heard about multiple villages and cities being wiped out so we decided to follow the destruction.
Dante: How were you two sure it was your mother?
Lenneth: Because it wasn't the first time she had left cities in her wake.
Dante: Did you ever find her?
Lenneth: We did. We found her completely covered in blood, standing in a pile of all the enemies she killed. It was at that moment I saw that look in her eyes again. There were moments when she with us, enjoying our lives together as a family, but there seconds, moments when you could see it. That dark and cold gaze in her eyes. She was completely emotionless. When she turned to us she wore the same mask that I do now.
Dante: Your mother was the Black Crow?
Lenneth: She was the original.
Dante: Unbelievable.
Lenneth: Looking back at that moment, its completely makes sense as to why I'm the way I am. That dark and cold gaze my mother had, I have it as well and so does my daughter. I'm afraid that the rest of the story will have to wait. I will inform Kitara of your journey.
Dante: Kitara will not like this.
Lenneth: She will understand. Best of luck Dante.
Dante: Don't worry. If anyone touches her, I'll kill them.
Lenneth: Not if she kills them first.
(As Lenneth says this, Dante vanishes back up to the training mountains and starts to look out into the distance.)
Dante: Just what have you gotten yourself into.
(As Dante says this, he vanishes away. After this, back at Dante's hideout, Kitara senses Lenneth's presence and walks outside to see her standing, looking over the cliff.)
Kitara: Are you here to kill me too, Lenneth?
Lenneth: I am not.
Kitara: Then where is Dante?
Lenneth: That is what I came here to tell you. Dante has set out on a mission to find my daughter.
Kitara: What?!? Why send him? You could've sent anyone else.
Lenneth: You misunderstand my intentions, Kitara. Ever since our falling out, Eden will not listen to reason.
Kitara: But she will listen to Dante.
Lenneth: You and I both know it had to be him. He is my best shot at saving her from the hands of The Order.
Kitara: If the Order of Amatsu is targeting her, does that mean that you've told Dante everything?
Lenneth: It was time. I could not keep him in the dark any longer. I had wished to spare him from fighting this war. I wanted him to have his own life instead of following my footsteps. Hopefully, you can succeed where I have failed.
Kitara: You didn't fail him. I believe Dante just has to deal with his anger and when he does, he will finally be able to move on. But I'm afraid that's all the time I have to spare. I have other things I must attend to.
Lenneth: Marcy Quinn wasn't it? I hope you enjoy your time as a teacher, Kitara.
Kitara: How did you know?
Lenneth: I watch over all of my students. Until next time, Kitara.
(Lenneth burst into Crow feathers.)
