Chereads / The Lockheart's Ruin / Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

(The next day, Mason is out in the backyard of the Royal palace sitting when his top pupil and Royal Class Knight, Mori Toyotomi walks up and kneels.)

Mason: I see that you are back from your task. How was your journey into the Land of Ataria?

Mori: It was long and tedious, but I managed to make the most of it. I wanted to tell you that the man you wanted me to find got your message.

Mason: And?

Mori: He accepts your offer. He will deal with the impending threat.

Mason: Excellent. Thank you.

Mori: I've heard a great deal of what's been happening since I left. I can't believe that Dante is still alive and that he attacked the Lockheart Kingdom. He was very fortunate that I wasn't here during the attack. He would've been dead.

Mason: Of that, I have no doubt, Mori. Dante is a problem that needs to be taken care of and swiftly. He is a threat that I cannot allow to linger.

Mori: I couldn't agree more, your highness.

Mason: Tell me something, Mori. Do you judge me for my actions against him?

Mori: How can I, sir? You did what you thought best to protect our world. If Dante really does have the Raven Gene and activates it, it's up to us to put a stop to him.

Mason: Thank you. You may go. Enjoy your day, Mori.

Mori: Thank you, sir.

(As Mori says this, Stephen walks up.)

Mason: What brings you to me, my son?

Stephen: I just got word of a disturbance not too far from here, in a town on the outskirts. And just a few moments ago, I felt some strong power. Since I can't find mother, and despite the strain in our relationship, I figured I'd still tell you where I'm heading.

Mason: I see. Mori, why do you aid my son in the matter.

Stephen: That won't be necessary. Ken will be joining me.

Mason: And so will Mori.

Stephen: But father.

Mason: Given how you and Ken faired against Dante and his fellow Crow, I think having Mori join you is the best option.

Stephen: Very well then. (Stephen turns to Mori.) I've heard that you've been trained personally by my father. He doesn't take on students, but he took you on. That must make you an exceptional fighter.

Mason: Indeed so. He's the best within the entire Lockheart Army.

Mori: That is such high praise, your highness.

Mason: Nonsense. It has become a well-known fact among the guards, knights and the people of the kingdom. The praise is well deserved. Now go. And come back safely.

Mori: We will not fail you, your highness.

(As Mori says this, Mason nods. After this, Stephen, Mori, and Ken all begin to make their way a potential threat. As they do this, over by Dante's hideout, Marcy follows Kitara to Dante's training grounds.)

Kitara: So Marcy. I've been meaning to ask, but what spells did they teach you while you were in that coven?

Marcy: Nothing offensive. Just a lot of stuff teaching me to control my magic as I still don't have control over it.

Kitara: And what about your fox spirit?

Marcy: Nothing. They completely ignored that part of me. I don't even know much about it.

Kitara: You're saying you've never contact with it?

Marcy: No.

Kitara: Then how about we start there? I can send us deep within your subconsciousness to communicate with your fox spirit. How does that sound?

Marcy: Let's do it.

Kitara: Okay. Come and sit in front of me. Close your eyes and calm your breathing.

(As Kitara says this, comes and does as Kitara says. After this, Kitara sits, closes her eyes and places her hand on Marcy's forehead.)

Kitara: Good, you're doing great. Now try to find the essence of the fox spirit. Find it and focus hard on it. I'll start the spell now.

(As Kitara starts the spell, Marcy, and Kitara quickly find themselves in a dark place deep within Marcy's subconscious. Once there, Marcy begins to follow the essence of the fox spirit.)

Kitara: You're doing a fine job, Marcy. Have you found its scent?

Marcy: Yes, but it's very weak.

Kitara: That's okay. Just keep focusing on it and you will find it. Do not worry, I am here with you, okay?

Marcy: Okay. I'll try my best.

(As Kitara continues to guide Marcy through her subconscious, Kitara starts to feel an immense heat as they continue to venture forward. Then suddenly the fox opens its eyes and the pressure of its power knocks both Marcy and Kitara out of the spell. After this, Marcy and Kitara are both stunned by the overwhelming power that of the Fox Spirit. Once Kitara regains her composure, she looks at Marcy only to see that she was shaken up.)

Marcy: Did you feel that?

Kitara: I did.

Marcy: That is inside of me.

Kitara: There is no need to fear it, Marcy. I will teach you not only how to unlock its power but control it as well. You have my word. What do you say we pick this up at a later date?

Marcy: Okay.

Kitara: What do you want to work on? Your magic or physical training?

Marcy: Physical training.

Kitara: Physical training? I would've thought you'd pick magic.

Marcy: Normally I would've, but watching how you took on Ragnarock the other day, I want you to teach how to fight without magic for now.

Kitara: I see. Very well then, on your feet Marcy.

(Marcy stands up and tries to mimic Kitara's fighting stance.)

Kitara: Let's begin.

(As Kitara says this, they begin to spar. While they spar against each other, Stephen, Ken and Mori all arrive at the town where the disturbance occurred only to see a portion of the town destroyed.)

Ken: Just what happened here?

Mori: It looks as if a battle took place here. A brief one at that.

Stephen: We were too late to get here.

(As Stephen says this, Mori steps walk towards the center of the destruction, places his hand and closes his eyes.)

Mori: Both of you, come place a hand on my shoulder.

Ken: Just what are you about to do?

Mori: Uncover what happened here.

(As Mori says this, Stephen and Ken places a hand on Mori's shoulder. As this happens, a force field appears around them and slowly begins to engulf the entire area that has been destroyed. Once it is completely covered, Mori stands back up.)

Mori: Time Manipulation: Memory Reconstruction!

(As Mori says this, he opens his eyes. After this, everything that was effected starts to revert back to things where. While this is happening, Stephen and Ken, are both amazed after witnessing Mori's ability.)

Ken: This is incredible. Where did you learn such a skill?

Stephen: Did my father teach you this?

Mori: He did. I've learned a lot from your father, Stephen.

(As Mori says this, time stops to the beginning before the town was destroyed. Once restored, Stephen and the others notice a woman with bright orange hair approach a man.)

Vincent: Listen, whatever it is that you are going to say, I don't want to hear it.

Azura: You're Vincent correct?

Vincent: How do you know my name?

Azura: Well I've been looking all over for you. You're not an easy man to track, Vincent.

(As Azura says this, Vincent gets in her face.)

Vincent: As I said before, whatever you're going to say, save it or else.

(As Vincent says this, his eyes start to glow yellow.)

Azura: You should know that I don't respond well to threats, Vincent. I'll say this once, stand down or else.

Vincent: As if I would.

Azura: Very well then.

(As Azura says this, she vanishes on side of Vincent and punches him in the jaw sending him crashing into the ground. After this, Vincent jumps up and charges towards Azura with a punch, but to his surprise she catches it.)

Vincent: What!?!

(Just as Vincent says this, he looks into Azura's eyes and notices that she has the exact same yellow glow in her eyes like his.)

Vincent: You have it too?!?

Azura: You've should've let me finished before you had threatened me.

(As Azura says this, she then proceeds to punch Vincent in the gut, then kicks him into a building. After this, the citizens start to flee. Moments later, Vincent burst through the debris and charges towards Azura and begins to throw an endless amount of strikes, but it's all to no avail as Azura simply dodges them all and hits Vincent with a powerful wave of pure force destroying everything in the area. After this, Azura walks over to Vincent as he is lying on the ground. As Azura is standing over him, Vincent notices the Ragnarock Mark upon her fist.)

Vincent: That mark...You're the leader, aren't you? Azura.

Azura: I am. Do you know why I'm here?

Vincent: Given that you haven't killed me, I assume you're here to recruit me.

Azura: Am I. And what do you say?

(As Azura offers up her hand, Vincent ponders the idea of joining, then takes up Azura on her by taking her hand.)

Azura: Good. Then we'll be on our way.

(As Azura says this, Mori suddenly falls to a knee as his technique starts to take a toll on his body. While this happens, time starts to revert back and the force field that Mori created fades.)

Stephen: Are you okay, Mori?

Mori: I'm fine. Not need to worry about me. It's just that I've never done that technique with two people before. I've only ever done it with King Lockheart.

Stephen: My father was right, you're indeed powerful. My father taught you well, Mori.

Mori: This is such high praise, my prince.

Stephen: Please, call me Stephen.

Mori: Very well. As you wish, Prince Stephen.

Ken: Well now we know everything, let's head back.

Stephen: Yes let's go.
