Chapter 123 - Chapter 123

Karciel's pulled his body from the wall and staggered to stand up. He saw Haktor frowning lightly as he looked at him with pity.

"The effect of the pills you took is wearing off faster than your men." Haktor spoke in a monotonous voice, no trace of pity in it.

"Probably because he consumed two at the same time that the effects wore off faster than the others." Sebastiene commented as he walked closer while rubbing his chin.

Seeing Karciel's confused eyes, Sebastiene indifferently pulled a mirror from his space and gave it to him. Karciel took the mirror and looked at his reflection.

His beautiful blue eyes were gone, only bloodshot eyes were there. His golden hair was replaced by a dull gray and his sun tanned complexion had turned an ugly grayish purple. He touched his once handsome face which was now filled with wrinkles. His gorgeous appearance that he once was so proud of was gone and in its place was a creature beyond ugliness.

He looked like a walking dead!

"Hahahahaha!" Karciel suddenly bellowed as tears run down his face. "Master!"

Haktor was startled by the call Karciel shouted and thought that his master would appear out of nowhere.

"Master! Why have you done this to me?" He screamed as his body visibly turned old. "I have done all that you asked. Why have you abandoned me?"

"Why?"

Haktor and Sebastiene glanced at each other at the sorry state that Karciel was in.

"I think it would be better for us to go back now." Sebastiene casually said. "We have done our mission successfully."

Just as Sebastiene finished his sentence a portal opened right behind Karciel and a white haired demon with red eyes came out. It all happened so fast! One second they were staring at the beautiful demon that came out of the portal and in a second, Karciel was clutching his neck which was slit by the same demon who immediately went back into the portal.

When they saw Karciel fall on the floor with his blood starting to pool and his body already convulsing, they immediately knew that the demon was an enemy. But they realized it a second too late! Even Sebastiene was stunned by the visual of the white haired demon that he was not able to act in time.

"Fvck!" Haktor cursed when he realized that Karciel was already good as dead.

"Lady Mel would be so disappointed in us." Sebastiene sighed as he closed his eye and touched his head in disbelief.

"Do you think Lady Mel would believe us if we tell her that a beautiful girl popped out of a portal and killed him?" Haktor asked as he covered his mouth with his chin, also in disbelief.

Both men were not in disbelief at the death of Karciel not the appearance of a beautiful demon. They were both in disbelief that they were so stunned at the beauty of the demon that they were not able to move!

"General, your orders?" A knight asked on the side.

"Send a message to Lady Mel, tell her that the coast is clear." Haktor ordered.

The knight made a salute by putting his right hand over his heart and went back to where the other knights were. He approached another knight and told her the order of the general. The female knight then nodded and whistled. The air around her started to shimmer and a beautiful blue spiritual bird appeared. She spoke to the bird and gave it instructions. The bird nodded and disappeared in a shower of sparkly dust.

Sebastiene and Haktor sighed at the same time. Their first mission was actually a failure. With two of the strongest among the knights, they failed a very simple mission of keeping Karciel alive.

Haktor kicked a body of one of Karciel's guards that have turned old and graying. But they were both surprised when the person groaned.

"What the lady in hell?" Haktor shouted in surprise and raised the foot he used to kick the old man on the floor.

"I have never heard of that one before." Sebastiene smirked mockingly.

"Shut up!" Haktor glared at him.

Sebastiene chuckled and bent down to check on the guard. There were no signs of ageing anymore but the guard looks around ninety years old. He was skinny and his eyes had turned white.

"It seems that the side effects won't kill the consumer of the pills but just hasten the ageing of the physical body." Sebastiene said and stood back up. "It would be good if we find a sample of that pill."

Haktor whipped around to face him.

"You are not thinking of feeding that to our brothers, right?" He asked Sebastiene with a cold frown.

"No." Sebastiene shook his head lightly. "But I think Miss Elaheh could do something about it."

"What do you mean?" Haktor walked closer to him.

"This won't be the last time we would fight people with this pill and there is also a possibility that the knights might accidentally consume one." Sebastiene's eyes glowed. "Having an antidote for the side effects won't be too bad, right?"

"That's true." Haktor nodded.

Just thinking of the effect the pills did to the guards, he knew that there would be a possibility that the enemy would try to trick his brothers into taking them. There could even be other people who are affected by the pill by consuming them unintentionally. They could help those people and at the same time, protect themselves if Miss Elaheh did find an antidote or even perfect the pill.

They were busy checking the bodies for any pills when a languid voice spoke.

"Well, isn't this disappointing."
