Chereads / Daughters of House Castellan / Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Sebastiene came out of the flame and raised an eyebrow at the shield that Anderson put up.

"Quite quick of you to realize it, Sir Anderson." Sebastiene smiled before putting his hand against the shield. "But how long will this shield last against an attack from me?"

Sebastiene's annoying smile was replaced with a menacing one.

Everyone was startled at what Sebastiene said. The twins, seeing that Sebastiene was about to attack Anderson, both ran to stop him. The wind ability user increased their movements while the other supports tried to amplify the strength of the barrier Anderson made.

Rays of red light started to seep through between Sebastiene's hand and the barrier. It will not be a half hearted attack. With the power Sebastiene was using, someone might actually end up heavily injured or even killed.

Everyone was holding their breaths at the sight.

Will they be able to stop his attack?

It felt like time slowed down as the members of the team all raced to stop Sebastiene's attack or stop Sebastiene from attacking.

I can feel the people sat on edge as they anticipate what will happen next.

Dong!!

The sound of the gong echoed through the air making everyone stop in their tracks.

Time was up.

Marionne's team failed. They were not able to take the flag from Sebastiene.

The light on Sebastiene's hand dissipated as he smiled normally again.

"Time's up!" Sebastiene withdrew his hand. "Thank you for participating!"

One of the twins, Cabel, immediately ran towards Marionne and Anderson to check on them. The other one, Abel, fell on his butt at the shock. They all knew that the gong saved them from a very nasty ending. They all looked at Sebastiene with both fear and respect.

Marionne stood up and tapped Anderson on the shoulder. "Thank you sir Anderson."

Anderson, who was sweating heavily, gave her a light nod and dissolved his barrier.

"You may join the others down the stage lady Fuego." Sebastiene informed her. Marionne bowed and led her team down the stage. They went straight to the lady knight who was slowly gaining consciousness to check on her. Marionne then left them to sit on her seat after thanking them.

Meanwhile, Sebastiene approached us and I made a barrier so others cannot hear us. We were discussing the scores and result of the test.

"I think the best candidate would be lady Fuego." Father commented.

"I agree your grace." Sebastiene nodded. "In terms of strength and commanding ability, she is the best."

"Actually, general Fuujin is also strong." Athy commented. "It's just that I doubt how he would be able to know there are Wind Clan members around and their exact abilities."

"You think that he and the other Wind clan members are spies?" Uriel asked her.

"No." Athy shook her head. "I just find it odd how well they fight together, like they have been training together. Even their formations and attack patterns are flawless."

"That is probably because they are trained under one master, my lady." Sebastiene cut in.

We all looked at Sebastiene.

"Wind Clan warriors are trained by a single master, Lord Rico Javier. He trains all of them in every move and positions they fit in. So wherever they are, as long as they have other clan members with them, they can easily fit in a formation amd know their positions. This made the Wind clan the easiest warriors to command." Sebastiene explained.

"And Haktor Fuujin is their current general, making him the strongest contestant for the position of commander of the Knights of Noktis." Anderson, who came back to Athy's side, chimed in.

"You fought together with Lady Fuego yet you are endorsing Lord Fuujin. Aren't you loyal Sir Anderson?" Athy teased him.

"My loyalty lies with House Castellan. I only chose who I think is best for the position, my lady." Anderson answered calmly.

"And you think that Lord Fuujin is the best?" I asked.

"In term of power and experience, he is my lady." Anderson replied. "His answers to the first test was not only the fastest way but it also considered lowering the number of casualties.

"Lady Fuego is not worthy then?" Mother asked. "She is also strong and good at commanding."

"Lady Fuego was born in a powerful Knight family. She had watched and trained with her father since she was young." Anderson paused.

"But?" Athy asked.

"She doesn't have any experience with battle by herself." Anderson sighed.

"So?" Uriel asked.

"It means that in all the fights she had, she was always protected by someone." Sebastiene explained. "Her experience may not be on par with Lord Fuujin.

"Why do you address him as 'Lord'?" Athy frowned. "Is he a noble?"

"Not a noble but the son of the Clan leader, my lady." Anderson corrected.

"He is the son of Lady Jemimah?" Uriel asked.

"Yes my lady." Sebastiene replied.

"The leader of the Wind clan is a woman?" Mother asked amazed.

"Yes Your Grace." Sebastiene confirmed. "She became the leader after her husband died to protect the northern border against a horde of demon beasts. Plenty of warriors were left without a leader causing them to almost be annihilated. Lady Jemimah took arms and led the warriors to victory. She is a well-known beauty but best known as a strong and smart leader."

"When did that happen?" I asked.

"My lady?" Sebastiene asked confused.

"The attack of wild beasts." I looked at him. "When did that happen?"

"It happened more than twenty years ago my lady." Sebastiene answered.

"I did not know about this." Father looked at Sebastiene.

"If I am not wrong, House Castellan's last head, Lord Opal, removed all Wind clan members for some reasons." Sebastiene said thoughtfully.

"My brother, Opal, died more than a decade ago." Father frowned. "I was still unmarried at that time and fought on the frontlines. I only came back after I heard that he and his wife died from an unknown desease from my father. I was named the new Archduke and married my now wife after a few years. I was not aware of any of these."

"I'm not sure either Your Grace." Sebastiene bowed his head.

"I want you to find out everything about this Sebastiene." I told him.

"Yes, my lady." He replied.

"Now back to the main topic." Athy clapped her tiny hands. "What to do with the commander position?"

I smiled and told them my plan to which everyone agreed.

After the meeting, Sebastiene bowed to us and walked up the stage again.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to look at Sebastiene. They were excited to know who would become their new commander.

"Hello everyone!" Sebastiene started as he waved a piece of paper in the air. "I now have the results of the tests."
