Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Father smiled at us and patted our heads.

"Mother is resting in your quarters," Athy informed our father, "you should go up and rest too father. We will bring you food there."

"We'll take care of everything else." I chimed in. "There are so many things to work on tomorrow."

"I know." Father sighed. He looked at the people scattered on the floor. "What about these people?"

"We will help them settle in for the night and they can travel home in the morning." Uriel responded. Father nodded and continues up the stairs to rest for the night.

"Everyone, after eating, these ladies will guide you to different rooms you can use for the night." I announced as Athy summoned some maids.

"But please do not take what is not yours or we will send you to our dungeons." Uriel reminded them smilingly.

"We will send you home in the morning." I continued.

The people thanked us and continued eating. We watched them as they reluctantly followed the maids to their rooms. Those that cannot walk were carried by others to their rooms.

"Athy, how long can your summoned spirits stay?" I asked my sister.

"I'm not sure." she responded thoughtfully. "The ones I summoned only disappeared when I cancel the summoning. Even if I am asleep, they would just do what I ordered them to do."

"How are you feeling now?" I asked her. There are times when using one's abilities causes their bodies to weaken or suffer damages. I'm worried that Athy was using too much and suffer damages.

"I feel fine actually." she replied. "I can stay awake until morning to be sure."

"Thant's good but you should still get some sleep." I urged her. "you'll never grow taller if you don't get proper rest."

"Pfffft!" Uriel slapped me lightly on the arm and we both giggled. Athy looked at me fiercely before storming off to her room. She was the shortest among us sisters back in our old world. We have always teased her about it and it pissed her sometimes.

"You should to get some rest too sis." Uriel advised. "We will talk about everything else in the morning."

I nodded and looked at the doors. "Athy's summoned spirits will watch the castle for the night." Uriel said when she noticed me looking. " Get some rest sis."

"I will." I reassured her and we both went to our respective rooms.

My room was spacious and clean, no hint of the battle that took place just outside the castle doors. I unbuttoned my dress, wore my robe and went to the bathroom to ready the water for my bath. The tub was clean and empty, there was no sign of water anywhere inside the bathroom. I sighed. I placed my hand on the edge of the tub and warm water started to fill the tub from the bottom.

Steam can be seen visibly rising up from the water. I saw a bottle of oil on the side, the maids pour it in the water for fragrance but disregarded it and just went into the water. I started to scrub myself using a small towel. I was sure not a drop of blood got on my skin or dress but I could see the water turning red. I look up to see the messenger, the first person I killed in both of my lifetimes, came into my view. He was standing at the foot part of the bathtub staring back at me, blood still oozing from the wound on his neck. I closed my eyes and opened them again only to see all the faces I have killed today, sir Corin and the knights who betrayed us in Riverforth. They weren't talking or doing anything, just stared at me. I held my breath and ducked my head under water, when I came up again, they were gone.

'Do not feel pity for those you killed.' I ran my hand on my hair and scolded myself. 'Killing is normal in this world, if you want to protect them, you need to be able to kill.'

I cried to myself in the bathtub. No matter how many times I tell myself those things, it does not change the fact that I killed. I did not apologize to those I killed, they deserved it, but I can't shake off the feeling of killing someone. The smell of blood as it flowed out of someones body or the gurgling sound of the men as their lives are seeping away. I cried for me who was able to take someone else's life without a thought or remorse. I cried hard but kept mum so my family won't hear.

I cried until the warm water turned cold. I continued scrubbing and shampooed my hair before replacing the water to new warm water. I finished my bath and went to bed tiredly. I applied a cold towel on my eyes, to avoid swelling in the morning, before falling asleep.
