"Alvera Elquine." I whispered looking at Athy who was frowning deep in thought.
"That name sounds familiar." Uriel mumbled. "Where have I heard that before?"
We looked at her and Athy sarcastically rolled her eyes at her causing Uriel to look at me.
"What?" she asked.
"Alvera Elquine is the female knight Athy summoned from the underworld. We even chose her to protect mother." I explained to Uriel.
"Then we should call her here!" Uriel slammed her hands on the table excitedly. "It would be easier to understand if she explains it herself."
"No." Athy immediately denied her idea. "I have a better Idea."
Athy raised her hand and summoned another spirit. It was a spirit of an old man with long beard and long hair.
"I have heed your summon." The spirit spoke. "I am the scholar of history, Amun Del Mavis."
"Amun, please tell us the entire history of Elleveire Kingdom." Athy commanded.
"Please make it easy to understand." I inserted.
"Of course my lady." Amun replied.
Amun went to the head part of the table, his back facing the wall with windows. Suddenly, the room went dark and images started showing behind Amun, like home theater projector. The image was a map of the Arimoth empire which he briefly explained what happened to since we already read about it earlier. The map started to change where boundaries per kingdom became visible as the empire fell.
The map then focused on the Elleveire Kingdom
"When the emperor was killed, the head of House Castellan was chosen to become King of the West. The Castellan was a family that has been around even before the empire was founded, thus many of the people trusts them. But Escolas Lativ Castellan, the head of House Castellan at that time, refused the position. He instead nominated the son of his fallen friend as the first king, Kaissius Avel Brouette."
The image shown was that of a handsome man in his early forty's with a scar on the cheek. It was Escolas Lativ Castellan's image at the time he was requested to be the new king. Then it changed into a new image of a man also in his thirty's with a clean shaven face.
"Kaissius was a knight of the empire who served under Emperor Francis as a general and also took part in the uprising. He was a smart man who thinks of others and was not afraid to clash with the king when he opposed about the harem. He was also well known in the west as a kind and helpful man. His background was not as deep as Escolas's was but he was referred by him making the people agree. Thus, Elleveire's first king ascended the throne as the King of the West.
On his first day as the King, he announced the name of the new kingdom that he came up with the other nobles. 'Elleveire' became the official name of the kingdom and Kaissius was also renamed into Kaissius Avel Brouette Dela Elleveire, as all royal family was to take on the last name of Elleveire as a sign that they are royalty. He settled right in the center of Elleveire Kingdom and built the royal capital with the help of the nobles. He placed two advisors on his side to help him with managing the kingdom."
An image of the royal capital in its making was at play and we found it captivating. It was like watching a movie but the instead of a video it was images taken at the same spot but different times.
"Escolas was given the title of Archduke and a territory on the west part of the kingdom which they named Westreon archduchy. The other nobles were given their titles as well as territories but not one was as high as Escolas."
An image of the Westreon castle and Westreon ccity was shown on the projection.
Six months into his reign, King Kaissius married a marquis' daughter, Ellianne Clarisse McClare, as his queen after months of the nobles urging him to get married and bear a successor."
The image changed into that of a beautiful woman with blond hair and green eyes. Then, it changed into an image of the royal family with Kaissius, Ellianne and a child.
"They only had one son, Prince Voughn Lucius Brouette Dela Elleveire who succeeded the throne. All kings that succeeded after came from King Kaissius' bloodline, including the reigning monarch, King Farvel." Amun finished.
"Did all the emperors family really die?" Uriel asked. "None survived?"
"Yes my lady. It was Escolas Castillan that killed the remaining imperial family. He even killed the ones who were connected to the royal family and not just stopping at the main family." Amun explained.
"Why?" I asked. "He could have just let the others live if they were already a far relative of the emperor?"
"It was because of House Castellans promise to the gods and goddesses, to protect Elleivere from anyone who would harm it." Amun ansered. "That promise also includes anyone who poses a threat to the royal family."
"So House Castellan can never go against the royal family because of the promise?" Athy frowned at the thought.
"The promise your ancestors made was that your family shall protect Elleveire kingdom from anyone who would harm it To put it simply, it includes changing the royal family if the need arises." Amun simplified.
"Oh?" Athy raised her eyebrow. "So if I don't like the king, I can just kill him?"
"It is not that simple to change a king my lady." Amun smiled softly. "For a Castellan to change the ruler, the current one should have done or would do harm to the kingdom. People of the kingdom should also request for the royal family to be changed before a Castellan may overthrow them."
We all looked at each other in understanding.
"That is why House Castellan is called the Sword of the Kingdom, for they eliminate everything that would bring harm to the kingdom." Amun explained to us.
"But we are also dubbed as 'the power behind the king' by everyone?" I added.
"That is because you will follow the king as long as he is doing the good for the kingdom and his people." he rationalized. "For five hundred years, House Castellan had fought the enemies with the royal family. Not once was Elleveire Kingdom defeated by those said enemies as long as a Castellan stood beside the king."
"What will happen to the Castellans who break the promise?" Athy asked.
"Then the blessings bestowed upon that person will be revoked and they will be banished from House Castellan, never to be able to return again." Amun answered. "Though, it has never happened."
"Then, was the blessing given to House Castellan only increases our abilities?" I asked.
"This.." Amun hesitated, "I am not sure of the full promise my lady. Maybe you should call upon one of your ancestors to answer it."
"I see. You may go back." Athy said and Amun gave a light bow.
"Thank you." We all said before Athy cancelled her summoning.
The room went back to light as Amun was sent back to the underworld. We we all stayed in the library to read more books on the different subjects found on the first floor. We shared our understanding with each other so it would be easier to cover different subjects at the same time. A maid informed Athy that lunch was ready and we all left for our meal.
During lunch with our parents, we told them about all we learned from Amun and the books. We scheduled a time for all of us to explain it to them in detail. After we ate, Astrid arrived and started her job as our mothers personal maid. We sisters went back to the library to read some more until dinnertime. All we did was study and learn as much as we can, though, we noticed that we could remember everything we have read which made it easier for us.
