Chapter 14 - "WHICH DRAMA DID I MISS?"

"So how was school today kids."

A question that Kian Randall would aways ask once they all were sat at the table as the dinner started, making Della  remind about everything that had happened in the daytime.

'What was she going to say?'

"So that's it. I just need to hand over my final submission and it will be done."

Ava completed. Her parents looked at her with so much pride, a genuine smile on their faces.

She was their prodigal child. She was all set to go to an Ivy League college and Kian and Tinsley could not be any more prouder of their daughter.

The next turn was Maples's and then Shawn's, and Della did not even realize when her's came because she was clueless and all eyes were on her.

She put her fork and knife down, clearing her throat. Bethany could only wonder what was going on with her daughter.

"Nothing much...to be honest...the usuals."

She mumbled those words out, after having a hard time thinking what to say.

"What about classes? Any final submissions you had to make or have to?"

It was Bethany who dropped that question expecting a positive response from her daughter only because she was acting really unlike of herself.

"No mum...I do not take skill classes like Ava."

She said, dejectively as if her mother did not know about that. She was hardly keeping up with the normal ones.

"Right...I keep forgetting you are not as bright as Ava."

Beth let out under her breath, cutting the piece of chicken on her plate aggressively, showing off her annoyance at her daughter's response.

Tinsley looked over at her husband sensing the tension, who just eyed her back letting her know that everything would be fine.

"Actually Della and I share the P.S. English class this time."

It drew everyone's attention, taking Della in shock.

He only chuckled in her way when their eyes interlocked.

"Well is not that wonderful? And unexpected?"

Tinsley tried to revive the vibe by speaking up. Beth had lost interest in the dinner a long time ago and nothing about that piece of information seemed to be wonderful to her.

She always felt like her daughter was too much into the Randall's boy and that would not do any good to her future as she had gone through the same situations earlier in her life and she just did not want the same things to happen to Della.

She wanted Dell to be like Ava and do good in school and aim for a good college if not for an Ivy League and be career-oriented like Madison.

"So you had to take up a class with juniors now?"

Beth asked and it triggered Della more as she denied her mother's speculation.

"No mama...it is not like that."

"I just do not understand why you cannot be like Ava and concentrate even a little bit...you are in your final year for God's sake."

Beth could no longer hold it back. She just had enough of watching her daughter be reckless and throw away her future.

"Beth..."

Tinsley tried to calm her down. She had a feeling that the dinner was not going to go well from the beginning and when both the ladies just appeared late for it.

"No Tinsley...Kian...I'm sorry that it had to come out while we all were dining...it is just I can't see her being an idiot and throwing her life away like that...but this girl...she never understands..."

Beth stood up to leave and Tinsley got up too, and so did Kian. It has always been a sore topic about Della not doing too well at school.

But it had not gotten to the point where things would get disrupted at the very dining table.

It could be that this year was Della's final year and it must have taken a toll upon Beth's head so both Tinsley and Kian did not mind.

The house was there as well. Della practically grew up here more than in her place.

"Marry bring the desserts...I think we are done with dinner here."

Tinsley called out to her maid and right away all their plates were taken away. Della remained quiet not wanting escalate the situation and just gave a plain eye to Shawn who looked at ger apologetically.

"Kitty, why is your plate still full?"

Kian saw his youngest had not even eaten and they did not even notice because they were all too much consumed with the drama.

"Why Kitty? Merry leave her plate...she is not getting any dessert till she is at least half done."

Tinsley's remark made Kitty groan out in frustration. The little one just did not want to fill her tummy with healthy food.

"Beth clam down. The kids are more intelligent than us. They know what they are doing."

Kian stepped in hoping to let the situation calm down. And Tinsley was grateful that her husband had finally taken the step to handle the situation.

"Exactly. Della will catch up. There is still time left for the graduation and the finals."

Tinsley added. Kian nodded to that. Beth just shook her head and sat back down, glaring at her daughter, who was just staring at her empty plate and also at Shawn, whose eyes were on Della.

But then he looked away when he felt Beth's gaze. Hopefully, by then Mary will come out with the desserts and start to deliver them one by one.

"I want my dessert now."

Kitty protested when she saw her favourite was served to everyone but her.

Kian shook his head denying her until she was done with her plate and it made the little one knock her glass off the table breaking it.

"Kitty!"

Tinsley shrieked, not expecting her youngest to be such a menace.

"Which drama did I miss?"

In came a very drunk Madison...and the evening was about to get more vibrant.
